Reese Witherspoon’s renovated Brentwood mansion
Reese Witherspoon’s renovated Brentwood mansion: before
Sitting on approximately three acres, the English Country-style home dates back to 1993 and has a private driveway surrounded by heavy landscaping. In the before pictures here, we can see the classic stonework and mock-Tudor detailing across the seven-bedroom mansion’s exterior.
Reese Witherspoon’s renovated Brentwood mansion: before
Inside the sprawling 10,343-square-foot home, dark wood flooring can be found throughout Witherspoon’s former property, including the reception room. Featuring dual-aspect windows, white walls and contrasting black wood panelling, the property wasn't in bad shape when the star snapped it up.
Reese Witherspoon’s renovated Brentwood mansion: before
The Legally Blonde actor's office was once awash with more dark wood panelling and rich wood flooring, creating a rather cosy space to crack open a good book or settle down to watch one of the filmmaker’s Hollywood blockbusters. But what does the seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom mansion look like today?

Reese Witherspoon’s renovated Brentwood mansion: after
While some celebs decide to carry out their real estate makeovers from within, Reese felt the urge to renovate her home from the outside in, transforming the building’s beige exterior with a lick of dazzling white paint. The gardens themselves remain largely untouched, with the outdoor kitchen, saltwater pool and expansive lawns reportedly left unchanged.

Reese Witherspoon’s renovated Brentwood mansion: after
Inside, the somewhat gloomy reception room has been opened up with lighter furnishings, white walls and plenty of warm lamps to brighten the mood. Ornaments in the alcoves have been replaced by light sconces and the fireplace and dark wood panelling have been painted white, too, creating a more tranquil space in which to kick back and relax.

The office now feels larger, too, with pared-back furniture and lighter oak floors replacing the dark wood. The deep wood panelling has been painted a rich blue that sings against the oak. Elsewhere in the home, the kitchen and hallway were also given a brighter makeover, with new cabinetry and crisp white walls. It's little wonder the Brentwood estate found a buyer in just a few months.
Reese Witherspoon's Belle Meade renovation: before
The Sweet Home Alabama star has a few properties up her sleeve, including this Colonial-style estate, which you’ll find in the wealthy neighbourhood of Belle Meade, Nashville. The six-bedroom home was built in the 1930s, and purchased by Witherspoon in 2018 with soon-to-be ex-husband, Jim Toth, for $3.76 million (£3.1m), according to Mansion Global. Let’s take a look at the Tennessee manse pre-renovation…
Reese Witherspoon's Belle Meade renovation: before
Once inside, the rather dated property showcases its need for Reese’s designer touch throughout the 8,400-square-foot of living space. A large hallway seems smaller than it should, with low lighting, taupe walls and dark wood furnishings.
Reese Witherspoon's Belle Meade renovation: before
More dark wood features sit in the dining room, with richly decorative fabrics and heavy curtains framing multi-panelled windows. The rather formal spaces run throughout the first-floor rooms, alongside a gourmet kitchen and adjoining breakfast area. Elsewhere, you’ll find a family room, office space and a screened-in sunroom in which to relax on a sunny Nashville summer's day.
Reese Witherspoon's Belle Meade renovation: after
Witherspoon’s Belle Meade residence still sparkles in white brick and stately columns from the outside, with a large turquoise swimming pool complete with diving board and sun deck. The front of the property hosts a trio of dormer windows and a sweeping veranda that keeps watch across the circular drive below. Let’s take a look at Reese’s interior renovations…
Reese Witherspoon's Belle Meade renovation: after
The hallway is now much fresher – brightened up with crisp white walls and lighter furnishings, while more contemporary artwork adorns the walls. The house was once featured on Netflix’s The Home Edit, with professional organisers tackling Witherspoon’s closet in between excitable squeals. The actress has reportedly joined forces with The Home Edit through her media brand, Hello Sunshine.
Reese Witherspoon's Belle Meade renovation: after
Here we see a much lighter dining room, with more clean white walls and a softer palette. Despite her inspiring renovation works, according to Dirt Reese recently offloaded the Nashville mansion for a profitable $7.4 million (£5.8m) to music producer Randy Wachtler – almost doubling her initial investment in the off-market deal. However, we're sure the Draper James founder and property flipper has plenty of home editing projects on her mind.

Jeffree Star’s Hidden Hills mega-mansion makeover
YouTube star and cosmetics CEO Jeffree Star bought this mega-mansion in the Californian Hidden Hills for $14.6 million (£11.5m) in December 2019. Star decided to list the property in June 2021, buying a 70-acre ranch in Wyoming, but not before carrying out some extensive renovations to the seven-bedroom, 13-bathroom Hidden Hills pad…
Jeffree Star’s Hidden Hills mega-mansion makeover: before
Previously, the grand entranceway featured ornate tiled flooring, a dark wooden staircase and intricate ironwork that drew the eye towards the formal living room at the rear of the house and the expansive backyard beyond. The French Normandy-inspired home sits on an impressive 2.8-acre lot within the exclusive guard-gated community of Ashley Ridge in LA's Hidden Hills.
Jeffree Star’s Hidden Hills mega-mansion makeover: before
Across the whopping 19,000 square feet of living space, the social media mogul would’ve enjoyed a glittering array of amenities. From a chef’s kitchen to a one-of-a-kind wine cellar, the sprawling mansion also has a basement speakeasy and bar area pictured here. With more traditional furnishings and dark wood trim, we’re sure Star had a style transformation in mind even before moving in.
Jeffree Star’s Hidden Hills mega-mansion makeover: before
A glass elevator leads towards the primary suite, which encompasses two bathrooms and two closets, one of which has a bank vault door. Elsewhere, there's also a two-storey gym complete with changing rooms, a hot tub and its very own spa and sauna. Click or scroll on to discover how the multimillionaire made over the mansion...
Jeffree Star’s Hidden Hills mega-mansion makeover: after
Wanting to move on from the bubblegum pink aesthetic of his previous Calabasas home, Star called upon YouTube interior designers and husband-and-wife team Mr Kate to redesign the spa within his Hidden Hills estate, explaining that he wanted a glamorous, rich aesthetic. It’s clear that this style inspired Star's revamp throughout the mansion, as you can see from the cream marble and gold updates to the staircase in the entranceway.
Jeffree Star’s Hidden Hills mega-mansion makeover: after
The bar area has been upgraded with white paint and gold trim, with more contemporary furnishings and muted tones added to the luxe look. Within the sprawling Hidden Hills estate, you’ll also find two guest houses, a home cinema and a 5,400-square-foot "beauty barn" for make-up and hair.
Jeffree Star’s Hidden Hills mega-mansion makeover: after
The primary suite has been given a luxurious lick of dark paint, highlighting the gold ceiling and rich walnut floors that have replaced the rather dull grey carpet from before. Sold in July 2022 for $16.7 million (£13.2m), we’re sure the make-up magnate's mega-mansion had no trouble finding a buyer after all those revamps.

Brad Pitt's surprise guest house renovation
We know what you're thinking: this petite pad can't possibly belong to acting royalty Brad Pitt. Well, you'd be right. In fact, the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor joined forces with the Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott, to pull off a surprise guest house renovation for one of his closest friends.
Brad Pitt's surprise guest house renovation: before
The makeover featured on the new HGTV show Celebrity IOU, in which notable VIPs surprise important people in their lives with special renovation projects. Pitt took part in the pilot episode of the show and helped the Scotts to convert a redundant garage building into a purpose-built guest retreat.
Brad Pitt's surprise guest house renovation: before
The 400-square-foot unit belongs to Pitt's long-term make-up artist Jean Black, with whom he has been friends for some 30 years. The pair have worked on more than 40 films together, and Pitt even revealed that Black had to apply make-up to his derrière for Legends of the Fall in order to cover up his dodgy tan lines. Wanting to give something back to his lifelong friend, Pitt decided to surprise Black with the guest house of her dreams.
Brad Pitt's surprise guest house renovation: before
The garage featured basic shelving units, plastic storage boxes and folding chairs. Yet large windows and a generous ceiling offered a glimmer of renovation potential. Far from letting the Property Brothers do all the heavy lifting, Pitt pulled his weight and helped with everything from knocking down the ceiling to plastering the walls. The team had just three weeks to complete the surprise project before Black returned home from a work trip.

Brad Pitt's surprise guest house renovation: after
During the three weeks of renovation works, the Scott Brothers and Pitt completely overhauled the tiny garage, turning it into a beautiful guest suite for Black's visiting friends – of which Pitt is likely to be one! To make the most of the limited internal layout, Drew and Jonathan chose a Murphy bed, which could be folded away when not in use, saving precious floor space.

Brad Pitt's surprise guest house renovation: after
The snug space still offers extensive storage, but now features a make-up station where Black can store all of her favourite tools, as well as a bathroom and a living area. There's even a secret door bookshelf that leads into a walk-in closet. Keeping the design clean and simple, the Property Brothers opted for streamlined white units, space-saving recessed shelving and natural timber tones.

Brad Pitt's surprise guest house renovation: after
The chic, minimalist space also comes with a compact but perfectly practical kitchen, which has everything a guest would need for a cosy night's stay. A large window also opens up to a small patio area outside, ready for Black's friends to share an alfresco drink on a warm evening. If you ever needed proof that less is sometimes more, then this is definitely it.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski's townhouse transformation
We've long been fans of Hollywood power couple Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, not least because of their eye for design. In late 2015, the acting duo paid $6 million (£4.7m) for this enchanting townhouse in the stylish Park Slope Historic District of Brooklyn, New York. Positioned a few streets away from the iconic Prospect Park, this was the perfect family home for the couple and their two daughters, Violet and Hazel.
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski's townhouse transformation: before
Built in 1909, the 20-foot-wide French Renaissance Revival house offered the couple 3,400 square feet of inside space that was just waiting to be modernised. Beautiful period features could be found throughout, including inlaid bordered parquet floors, elegant bay windows, original timber panelling, delicate crown mouldings, chic fireplaces and pretty stained-glass windows, which all added to the property's personality.
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski's townhouse transformation: before
The limestone-clad townhouse soars up four floors and features seven bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as a formal sitting room, a central parlour and a timber-adorned dining room. Despite being grand and spacious, the home's old-fashioned interior design was making the rooms feel dark and stuffy, not helped by the dark wooden wainscotting that could be found in various rooms throughout the house.
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski's townhouse transformation: before
Located at the back of the house through the dining room, the kitchen was small and unremarkable. Kitted out with dated brown countertops and simple Shaker-style cabinetry, it was in need of a facelift and a dose of wow factor. According to Luxury Listings, Blunt and Krasinski spent just $300,000 (£237k) transforming the residence from top to bottom, and we think you'll agree that it was worth every single penny...
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski's townhouse transformation: after
For the task, the Mary Poppins and Jack Ryan stars commissioned Michael Ingui of Baxt Ingui Architects. The townhouse is now almost unrecognisable – light, bright and undeniably beautiful. Every room is effortlessly cool, thanks to a crisp white colour scheme that's embellished with splashes of vibrant colour.
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski's townhouse transformation: after
Blunt and Krasinski retained much of the property's early 20th-century charm, refining its period features by restoring the original ceiling beams and decorative millwork. The previously dark dining room is now filled with natural light, thanks to an oversized pocket door and pastel colour scheme. The heavy wainscotting and intricate coffered ceiling have been freshened up with white paint, while retro furnishings and contemporary light fixtures add to the home's playful vibe.
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski's townhouse transformation: after
The couple's kitchen has undergone one of the most impressive transformations. A showcase for contemporary design, it now offers floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that open the space up to the garden. Sleek built-in appliances are nestled within custom cabinetry adorned with brassware, while the long porcelain island beautifully mimics the flat skylight above. We don't know why, but in May 2018 the duo sold the pad for $6.5 million (£5.1m) – $1.5 million (£1.2m) under the asking price.

Scott Disick’s remodelled farmhouse
Fans of Flip It Like Disick will know all too well that Scott Disick is something of a real estate genius. The TV series follows the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star as he tackles high-end home renovation projects across Los Angeles and, in 2018, Disick picked up a traditional-style farmhouse in the heart of the city's Hidden Hills neighbourhood. Paying $3.2 million (£2.5m) for the privilege, he undertook a truly breathtaking makeover...
Scott Disick’s remodelled farmhouse: before
No doubt Disick was drawn to the home's voluminous rooms, incredible vaulted ceilings and sprawling floor plan. Despite needing some modernisation, the property benefited from over an acre of land, which included a spacious patio, a swimming pool and spa and a sports court. Large windows also allowed for idyllic views across the backyard.
Scott Disick’s remodelled farmhouse: before
Dating back to 1973, the traditional abode also offered a billiards room, a wet bar, five spacious bedrooms and six bathrooms. Numerous reception rooms provided significant space for adaptation, while the home's wrought ironwork, hardwood floors and crown mouldings added to its characterful appeal. Yet despite its high ceilings, ample glazing and simple colour palette, the interior felt dingy and needed a serious refresh.
Scott Disick’s remodelled farmhouse: before
The home's generously proportioned rooms had plenty of potential but were in need of some refining, as the master bathroom shows. Decked out in old-fashioned brown stone, tiles and built-ins, the space was crying out to be brought into the 21st century.
Scott Disick’s remodelled farmhouse: after
Thanks to Disick's eye for detail, the house has now been opened up to the garden, allowing free-flowing indoor-outdoor living. Key design details include 10-foot glass pivot doors, elegant wide-plank hardwood floors, crisp white walls and exposed timber beams. The bright and contemporary kitchen now features white oak cabinetry, Miele appliances and a stunning centre island with marble countertops.
Scott Disick’s remodelled farmhouse: after
As well as opening up the entire layout of the home, adding windows and removing its bulky stone fireplaces, Disick also increased the interior footprint to 5,663 square feet. The open-plan living area is simply stunning thanks to the reality star's use of high-quality finishes, including grey marble fireplaces, white oak doors with invisible hinges and recessed TV screens. Disick also installed a state-of-the-art surround sound system that can be accessed everywhere, including the garden.
Scott Disick’s remodelled farmhouse: after
The master bathroom transformation is one of Disick's most impressive moves. The real estate guru added dual walk-in showers, a freestanding tub and marble accents. Other key design elements include a climate-controlled wine closet that's enclosed behind a sheet of smoked glass and a zero-edge swimming pool. Outside, you'll also find a gas firepit and a reclaimed wood pavilion. The ultimate house flip, the fabulous farmhouse sold for $5.6 million (£4.4m) in late 2020.

French Montana’s mansion makeover
In 2016, Moroccan-American rapper French Montana purchased this stunning Calabasas compound from mega-star and serial house flipper, Selena Gomez. Costing Montana a cool $3.3 million (£2.6m), the house sits on three acres of land and now boasts no end of VIP-worthy entertaining spaces. Enclosed behind private gates in the ultra-exclusive Mureau Estates neighbourhood of Los Angeles, this captivating residence has undergone an impressive transformation.
Marc & Tiffany Angeles / Douglas Elliman
French Montana’s mansion makeover: before
Before French Montana got his hands on the property, the Mediterranean-style mansion was classically styled, with rustic stone fireplaces, a neutral colour palette, crisp white furnishings and traditional décor. We can totally understand why the 'Welcome to the Party' singer fell in love with the home, though, with many rooms in the 7,786-square-foot property offering double-height ceilings and direct access to a tranquil courtyard garden.
Marc & Tiffany Angeles / Douglas Elliman
French Montana’s mansion makeover: before
The house featured six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, with the master suite covering more space than the average city apartment. The room came with a comfortable seating area, a huge walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite with a spa-style bath and a steam shower. Downstairs, the home's kitchen was extremely old-fashioned, but offered plenty of room for improvement.
Marc & Tiffany Angeles / Douglas Elliman
French Montana’s mansion makeover: before
Before the amazing home makeover, the compound also offered a basic movie theatre with old-fashioned built-ins and dated furnishings, a two-storey dining room, a gym, an office and a custom wine cellar finished with slate and stone. Despite being grand and incredibly spacious, the property wasn't quite up to French Montana's unique design standards.
French Montana’s mansion makeover: after
Thanks to a complete interior overhaul, the mansion is now brimming with star quality. The formal lounge has been turned into a dramatic dining room with eye-catching artwork and a theatrical chandelier, while the old eating area is now a state-of-the-art games room. Montana replaced the room's patterned beige walls with sleek grey hues, while the woodwork has been painted black and the fireplace embellished with gilded marble.
French Montana’s mansion makeover: after
The home theatre received one of the best makeovers, thanks to the talents of Scott Disick. The project is said to have cost a cool $135,000 (£107k), and Disick selected the state-of-the-art AV equipment and an elaborate jungle theme in honour of Montana's 2017 album, Jungle Rules. The cool compound also boasts an unbelievable recording studio, which reportedly set the hit-maker back over $400,000 (£316k).
French Montana’s mansion makeover: after
The drab kitchen has been refreshed with simple white units and clean stainless steel accessories, while the rear garden now offers a swimming pool with a spa and waterfall, along with a cabana with an outdoor kitchen and a brick pizza oven, plus plenty of spaces for raucous parties. After putting in all that time and effort, French Montana sold the home in mid-2020 for $5.6 million (£4.4m), giving the musician a tidy profit on his investment. The mansion was last sold by the team on Selling Sunset, for $5 million (£3.9m) in August 2021.

Selena Gomez’s Studio City restyle
Selena Gomez is no stranger to real estate mergers. In fact, the former Disney Channel star is almost as successful a property flipper as she is a singer. Over the years, Gomez has owned an incredible array of properties in Los Angeles, including this stunning 1950s cottage. In 2017, the 'Lose You to Love Me' singer paid just shy of $2.3 million (£1.8m) for the Colonial-inspired home and set about transforming every inch of its interior, before selling up for $2.4 million (£1.9m) in September 2020.

Selena Gomez’s Studio City restyle: before
Built in 1951, the Studio City property benefited from 3,200 square feet of inside space, as well as plenty of amazing period features, including vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, brick fireplaces and oversized windows. Yet the single-storey dwelling definitely didn't quite fit with the singer's cool and contemporary style. The entrance door led into a traditional lounge with old-fashioned furnishings and a serious lack of wow-factor.
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage
Selena Gomez’s Studio City restyle: before
With three bedrooms, two bathrooms and numerous living spaces, the house offered plenty of scope for modifications. This windowless space is located in the middle of the property and was in serious need of some TLC. Traditional and uninspiring, a thorough overhaul was required in order to render the space fit for a pop princess.
Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage
Selena Gomez’s Studio City restyle: before
To the rear of the house there was also a spacious Great Room, with an open-plan kitchen, a pantry, dining area and snug family area positioned around a fireplace. The room had plenty of plus points, from swathes of windows to the herringbone stone floor tiles. Yet something about the space didn't quite work, as Gomez soon came to realise.
Selena Gomez’s Studio City restyle: after
Following an extensive renovation, the 'Rare' singer's reception room is now a chic and sophisticated space. A stripped-back monochrome palette and refined soft furnishings add grown-up vibes to this once-forgettable space. White timber window shutters aid with privacy and block out glare from the California sun, while rich green marble finishes the regal fireplace to perfection.
Selena Gomez’s Studio City restyle: after
The former lounge is now a light, bright and beautiful space with plenty of personality. We love the room's playful styling; a blend of retro furnishings, eclectic colours and unique decorative touches. Gomez painted her brick fireplace white and replaced the flooring with a lighter stain in order to brighten the space. A skylight was also added to draw natural light down into what was once a dark and dingy corner of the house.
Selena Gomez’s Studio City restyle: after
Though not much has physically changed in the Great Room, the space feels entirely reinvented. Bright and airy, the room has been opened up thanks to carefully positioned furnishings, rustic-inspired light fixtures and a fresh lick of crisp white paint. Keeping the colour palette simple, Gomez opted for neutral tones and Scandinavian-inspired décor. Savvy fans will recognise the beautifully bright kitchen from the singer's Instagram, and from HBO Max's Selena + Chef, Gomez's cooking show which began dueing quarantine.

Diane Keaton's Tucson house flip
Keen property hunters will already know that veteran actor Diane Keaton is no stranger to real estate renovations. The house-flipper has undertaken plenty of impressive projects over the years, including this one. The Annie Hall star purchased the 19th-century Sonoran row house in 2018 for $1.5 million (£1.2m), before selling it two years later after an extensive renovation for a cool $2.6 million (£2m).
Diane Keaton's Tucson house flip: before
The historic home lies in the city of Tucson, Arizona and dates back to around the 1900s. Between 2014 and 2018, the award-winning writer Kathe Lison painstakingly converted the property into a residence. Spanning almost 4,580 square feet, the unique home had plenty of room for improvement still, but its crumbling walls, rustic floors and age-old ceilings needed a lot of work.
Diane Keaton's Tucson house flip: before
Yet it's easy to see what Keaton was drawn to. Soaring ceilings, exposed timber beams, beehive fireplaces and other quirky period features make this house truly one-of-a-kind. Unfortunately, the sizeable living room lacked purpose and natural light, while the kitchen offered ill-fitting contemporary units and outdated appliances that were hindering the space.
Diane Keaton's Tucson house flip: before
With four generously sized bedrooms, four bathrooms and over a third of an acre of land waiting to be put to good use, the building's positives far outweighed its negatives. The Something's Gotta Give actor took her time with the project, spending a total of two years refining the home's ancient interior, turning the unique house into a breathtaking family home...
Diane Keaton's Tucson house flip: after
Following an extensive restoration, Keaton has given the Tucson house a new lease of life. The glamourous glow-up transformed the once-dark and uninviting living room into a cool and contemporary oasis, complemented by rustic timber accents and textured whitewashed walls. Keaton also installed clerestory windows in order to draw additional sunlight into the large, open-plan living space.
Diane Keaton's Tucson house flip: after
The artsy retreat now boasts a kitchen that's more in keeping with the overall look and feel of the period property. Rustic timber accents are complemented by matte black units, ultra-thin granite countertops and sleek ceramic floor tiles. Elsewhere, Keaton added an enormous swimming pool to the back garden, as well as a library, a walk-in pantry and a state-of-the-art media room. There's also a private courtyard, a pool house and an attached one-bedroom guest house.
Diane Keaton's Tucson house flip: after
The master bedroom is perhaps Keaton's greatest achievement. The stylish retreat is overflowing with southwestern charm and allows the home's gorgeous rustic plasterwork and original ceiling beams to do all the talking. Keeping the colour scheme simple, the suite now benefits from wall-to-wall built-in storage, authentic church pews and enamel pendant lighting that emphasises the generous height of the room's decorative ceiling.

Pharrell’s ultra-modern mansion makeover
This jaw-dropping glass mansion once belonged to movie mogul Tyler Perry before Pharrell Williams took it off his hands in 2018 for a cool $15.6 million (£12.3m). The sprawling Beverly Hills estate spans 17,245 square feet and enjoys a prominent hilltop position on Mulholland Drive, in the world-renowned 90210 zip code. Sitting on over four manicured acres of land, the home's updated interior is now the very definition of modern luxury.
Pharrell’s ultra-modern mansion makeover: before
The all-glass compound is considered one of the most unique homes in the area and benefits from floor-to-ceiling windows that draw plenty of natural light inside. The home was custom-built in 1992, and despite being fairly new, was starting to show signs of age, not helped by the property's dated, mismatched furnishings.
Pharrell’s ultra-modern mansion makeover: before
Designed for entertaining, every room is open-plan and spacious, but prior to the makeover, old-fashioned stone fireplaces and time-worn window dressings were adding years to the home. Yet the mansion offered plenty of USPs, including towering geometric ceilings, characterful pyramid-shaped skylights and an atrium-like entrance hall that soars up three floors. The triple-height foyer features floating marble staircases that intersect one another for the ultimate architectural welcome.
Pharrell’s ultra-modern mansion makeover: before
Across the home's footprint, you'll find 10 spacious bedrooms, 11 marble-clad bathrooms and multiple entertainment zones. Many of the rooms, including the boardroom-like dining area, offered wood-accented built-ins, dramatic light fixtures and polished marble floors, as well as direct access to the home's abundant outdoor decks. In need of a design injection, the mansion was just waiting to be transformed by one of the most stylish men in music...
Pharrell’s ultra-modern mansion makeover: after
Unsurprisingly, Pharrell's makeover doesn't disappoint. Sleek, modern and fresh, the Grammy Award-winner spared no expense when bringing the property up to his high design standards. The interior is now the perfect place for relaxation and entertaining, thanks to its luxurious furnishings and lavish fixtures. There's a cosy den, a laid-back family room, a formal living room and a home theatre for movie nights, each decorated with retro-inspired furniture in a plethora of metallic shades.
Pharrell’s ultra-modern mansion makeover: after
Once a dark and uninviting space, the main living area is now airy and filled with natural light. Taking a less-is-more approach, Pharrell stripped out the busy, dark furnishings and replaced them with a chic vintage-style modular sofa in a cool blue hue – the perfect complement to the turquoise-framed glass and pure white walls of the home's exterior.
Pharrell’s ultra-modern mansion makeover: after
Pharrell also updated the kitchen with gold and stainless steel fixtures, and transformed the palatial master bedroom into a mid-century oasis, with timber accents and 50s-inspired furnishings. The 'Happy' singer kept the estate's sports facilities, 30-car motor court, resort-style pool, slide and grotto. However, in October 2020, Pharrell parted with the property for just $14 million (£11m), making a substantial loss on his investment.

J.Lo and Ben Affleck's Georgia wedding venue makeover
While Jennifer Lopez has an impressive property portfolio of her own, this particular Hampton Island mansion belongs to old boyfriend/new husband Ben Affleck. In fact, the 87-acre Georgia estate was the venue for their three-day wedding event in July 2022. J.Lo decided to make her style stamp on the place almost 20 years ago – upholstering the pad with interior designer friend Rachel Ashwell. Her same decorator pal rejuvenated the space again in time for their wedding festivities.
J.Lo and Ben Affleck's Georgia wedding venue makeover: before
Affleck’s Riceboro plantation-style home is considered “one of the Crown Jewels of Georgia's Coast”, according to a previous listing, with 6,000 square feet of living space and a veranda overlooking the river. Known as the "Big House", the Academy Award-winning actor bought the property in 2003 for $7.1 million (£5.6m) while first dating J.Lo. The lounge is seen here before redecoration, with 15-foot high white walls, plump white sofas, large white fireplace surround and a heavy chandelier.
J.Lo and Ben Affleck's Georgia wedding venue makeover: before
More white painted walls sing against the reclaimed heart of pine floorboards in the dining room, where a dresser encases glassware and dinnerware ready for celebrity guests. White fabric upholstered dining chairs surround a large wooden table that sits beneath an antique glass chandelier, illuminated further via the large floor-to-ceiling windows.
J.Lo and Ben Affleck's Georgia wedding venue makeover: before
Alongside "The Big House", the VIP newlyweds also have access to an expansive, screened-in "Summer Cottage", complete with a large fireplace and exposed pitched ceilings. Elsewhere, you’ll also find "The Oyster House", a 10,000 square-foot structure encased in wooden panelling and plentiful windows, with five bedrooms and bunk beds made of salvaged marine vessels upstairs. But how does the wedding venue look now?
J.Lo and Ben Affleck's Georgia wedding venue makeover: after
Since the recent redecorating works by Ashwell, the Georgia estate’s lounge exudes a distinctly cosier feel. The mantelpiece is adorned with wedding-esque bouquets and the white fabric sofas have been updated. The furniture and furnishings can be purchased from Ashwell's company, shabbychic.com, according to the singer’s Instagram post in which she praises the interior designer for her work and "favorite cozy style".
J.Lo and Ben Affleck's Georgia wedding venue makeover: after
More homely "shabby chic" furnishings flow throughout the property, full of southern charm and natural light. Creating a country cottage feel, the walls now feature hanging plates and ornate mirrors, while table tops are graced with fresh flowers and sofas strewn with patterned cushions.
J.Lo and Ben Affleck's Georgia wedding venue makeover: after
The bedroom now plays host to a wash of whites and pinks, with more floral patterns sitting across the bedding and love-seat. After the Marry Me star posted photos of her house transformation to Instagram, Ashwell commented: ”It's always a privilege to work with you creating a magical home for you and your family. Your mindful attention to detail is what makes everything you do have meaning and soul."

Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott's dream home renovation
After renovating more than 500 homes for other people, alongside his identical twin brother, Drew, Jonathan Scott knows a thing or two about design. So, when he bought this beautiful historic home with his long-term girlfriend, New Girl actor Zooey Deschanel, we just knew it wouldn't stay drab for too long. The celebrity couple snapped up the place in July 2020 for $9.5 million (£7.5m), but before moving in they undertook a mammoth overhaul project.

Constructed in 1938, the East Coast Colonial-style home was designed and built by renowned Old Hollywood architect, Gerard Colcord. Situated in the Brentwood neighbourhood of Los Angeles, it boasts a spectacular columned façade and mature one-acre grounds, so it isn't difficult to see what drew the duo to the property. However, the 6,383-square-foot interior was a little uninspiring and outdated, and certainly in need of modernisation.

The two-storey residence had plenty of potential, though. With its spacious hallway, dual living rooms, dining room, kitchen, five bedrooms and eight bathrooms, it had space in abundance. From hardwood floors to authentic carved fireplaces, exposed beams and arched doorways, there were ample stunning period features worthy of rescuing. Plus, many of the ground floor rooms opened up to the lovely garden, thanks to endless sets of decorative timber French doors.

In January 2022, Scott wrote a feature for Reveal magazine all about the project. He called the place their “forever home" and went on to say: "As we pulled up the drive, it just seemed... magical. It sat on a little over an acre, and with its lush lawn and massive California sycamores, it looked like a park." It was quickly nicknamed Park House and after two years of renovations, Scott took to Instagram in July 2022 to share photos of the finished residence...

The once bland and dingy rooms are now light, bright and fresh, with vivid pops of colour, incredible patterns and prints, statement furniture and, of course, restored period features. Working together, Scott focused on architecture and construction, while Deschanel was the "liaison designer", focusing on the details and décor. The couple originally planned to update the bathrooms and move in before Christmas 2020. However, even for experienced property flipper Scott, the project was no small task. In fact, he called it the "largest residential renovation" of his career.

The couple soon discovered the house was water damaged and needed a lot of other repairs. "Then the pandemic hit, and a host of other delays ensued due to supply-chain issues and shuttered permit offices," Scott told Reveal. Despite the setbacks, the pair has achieved an amazing result, creating one-of-a-kind spaces that marry bold patterns and colours together perfectly. We particularly love the emerald green kitchen, with its brass accents. "It was really hands-on," Deschanel said on Drew and Jonathan's property website. "Many Saturdays, we sat searching for the right details to add to this home."

Scott described the finished property as "beautiful, eclectic and wonderfully unique", and we can't help but agree. Despite now being completely unrecognisable, the home retains much of its original details, with some new additions, like gorgeous anthracite windows and parquet floors, seamlessly slotting in. The couple also transformed their backyard, installing an outdoor kitchen and updating the patio next to the pool. "It took an army of hard-working, talented folks to make it happen," Scott told his Instagram followers.
