The youngest member of the Kardashian clan, Kylie Jenner has come a long way from her first appearance aged nine on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Now 25, the beauty entrepreneur has amassed a huge fortune, so it's no surprise that she has bought and sold a few luxe properties over the years. Three years after paying $15 million (£12m) for a vacant plot near Kris Jenner and Khloe Kardashian's Hidden Hills compounds, she has started construction on her dream home in the area, while the pad she joint owned with rapper Travis Scott has been slashed in price following their split in December 2022. Join us as we retrace Kylie’s journey from reality star to property mogul….
At just 21 years old, Kylie Jenner earned the title of the youngest self-made billionaire ever from Forbes and has spent time investing her fortune in top-end real estate, much like the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner family. With a number of amazing homes spread throughout California, she currently lives in Los Angeles, in a Holmby Hills mega-mansion, with her five-year-old daughter, Stormi and one-year-old son Aire–who was originally named Wolf—from her five-year relationship with rapper Travis Scott. But where did it all begin?
Kylie Kristen Jenner was born on 10th August 1997. The youngest in the large extended family, which includes her full sister Kendall and a total of eight siblings, the youngster grew up in the wealthy suburbs of Los Angeles. With her older half-sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney making headlines, the young Kylie was soon to be catapulted to fame.
At just nine years old, Kylie appeared in the first-ever episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Premiering in October 2007, the reality show followed Kylie's mum, Kris Jenner and her family in their day-to-day lives. This genre-defining reality show, which not only set the scene for the rest of Kylie's career but also changed the fame game forever, was finally set to end in 2021 after 20 seasons. Hulu picked up a new version of the show, however, releasing The Kardashians in April 2022.
When the original show premiered in 2007, the family were living in this home in the Hidden Hills, California. Matriarch and 'momager', Kris and Kylie's father Bruce Jenner (now known as Caitlyn Jenner), purchased the home for $2.9 million (£2.3m) in June 2006. The first three seasons were recorded in the property, capturing the dramatic lives of the Kardashians at the very early days of their fame.
At just over 3,900 square feet, Kylie Jenner's childhood home has four bedrooms and five bathrooms. The gourmet kitchen boasts a centre island and granite countertops with stainless steel appliances. Often featured in the show, Kris Jenner could be seen cooking up a storm for her children, a world away from today with the whole family using private chefs.
The living room features a fireplace and beamed ceiling with two skylights, which leads through to the dining room. A little different to the colour scheme Kylie favours today, the traditional-style home was put on the market by the family for $3.4 million (£2.7m) in December 2008 as they looked to upsize. According to property records, it sold in 2011 for $2.8 million (£2.2m).
After selling their first TV home, Kris Jenner purchased this mansion in 2010 for $4 million (£3.2m). 13-year-old Kylie stayed in the iconic home, which also featured in the early noughties sitcom, Hidden Hills. The house is known for its black and white hallway where the Kardashian-Jenners have held many an impromptu photoshoot and often use to stage their festive family photos.
Though numerous episodes of the reality show have been filmed inside the property, a fake house was used for exterior shots to keep the paparazzi and superfans at bay. Kris Jenner recently worked alongside designer Jeff Andrews to spruce up the interior of her long-time family home. Her glamorous TV room features a fireplace with a playful neon sign mounted above it, plus plush grey sofas and dark grey walls.
With the family's fame forever growing, teenage Kylie attended Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles until 2012, when she and sister Kendall signed up with a private tutor to be home-schooled. When she was just 15, Kylie and Kendall launched their first solo project in the form of a clothing line called Kendall + Kylie for the Californian company, PacSun. Little did we know that this was just the start of a huge career in retail for the canny star...
Kylie launched her first batch of Lip Kits when she was just 18 years old in 2015. By July 2018 she was featured on the cover of Forbes, ranking number 27 in their list of the richest self-made women and—more impressively—snatching the title of the world's youngest self-made billionaire from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. While some criticised both her claim to the title of 'self-made' and raised questions about the true value of her company, she was once again included on the Forbes billionaire list in 2020. Even before selling 51% of Kylie Cosmetics to beauty giant Coty Inc. for $600 million (£581m), she already had the means to invest in some serious real estate...
Kylie bought the first home in her celebrity property portfolio in March 2015, just before her Lip Kit launch, when she was just 17 years old. The star paid $2.6 million (£2m) for the 5,100-square-foot, five-bedroom home which sits on half an acre of land. Every inch the star starter home, this private sanctuary sits within the elite gated community and Kardashian stronghold, The Oaks of Calabasas. Other well-known stars to have lived there include Britney Spears, Justin Bieber and Katie Holmes.
The Tuscan-style villa boasts an open-plan living room with a monochrome colour scheme, which can be found throughout the house. A white stone fireplace sits alongside French doors that open outside to the magnificent swimming pool and grounds.
The home also includes an all-important glam room complete with an illuminated vanity, mirrored walls and custom drawers, a staple for any Kardashian family member. Elsewhere there's a master suite with a huge walk-in wardrobe, an attached casita and an office space. Kylie put the home on the market in 2016 for $3.9 million (£3.1m), eventually selling in 2017 for $3.2 million (£2.6m).
While she still owned her starter home in Calabasas, the star went on a property spending spree and purchased not one but three huge homes in the celebrity hotspot of the Hidden Hills in 2016, following the huge success of her Kylie Cosmetics business. The first purchase was a mini-mansion for $6 million (£4.8m) in May 2016, and the second was this much more modest house in August for $4.5 million (£3.6m).
It was reported that the star planned to use the property as an office for her growing business whilst living in the other home that she had purchased next door. Spread over one storey, the 5,200-square-foot home offers the ultimate in luxury living with an open-plan living room, a statement stone fireplace and vaulted ceilings.
The all-white kitchen boasts high ceilings and marble countertops with a cute window looking out over the garden. The home would have been the perfect spot for the private star to hunker down working on her burgeoning business empire, with a wet bar, theatre and a formal dining space.
The four-bed, three-and-a-half-bath home features a sprawling master suite with an ensuite bathroom and a walk-in-wardrobe, while outside there's a fireplace, a covered patio and a barbecue centre surrounding a large pool and spa complete with a fountain. Kylie sold the mansion just a year later in 2017 for $5.3 million (£4.2m) around the time she was becoming an item with rapper Travis Scott, while the next-door property was sold in 2018 in an off-market deal for a reported $6.7 million (£5.4m).
The third home Kylie purchased in the Hidden Hills in 2016 was this magnificent mansion. Sold to the star for $12 million (£9.6m), it was said to be her main residence and she revealed in an article with Architectural Digest that she'd undertaken extensive renovations to transform it into a pink paradise.
Offering 13,200 square feet of space, the home—pictured here before the revamp—features a gourmet kitchen, home theatre, games room, pool and spa. With wide doorways and plenty of natural light, this stylish living room flows seamlessly through into the open-plan dining area.
With eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, the home was built in 2015, making it only a year old when Jenner made her purchase. Completely unrecognisable today, the home was redesigned by Martyn Lawrence Bullard and features a brand new celebrity-worthy walk-in-wardrobe and a glam room that the star had custom-built.
With just under one-and-a-half acres of land, the surrounding grounds feature a swimming pool and an idyllic terrace—the perfect playground for the young entrepreneur and her daughter, Stormi, who was born in February 2018. In 2017, the star also reportedly purchased an empty plot of land adjacent to the home, which was intended to be a garden and horse farm for $5 million (£4m). However, she sold the plot for $5.5 million (£4.4m) in August 2018.
In October 2018, just eight months after the birth of her daughter Stormi, Kylie split the cost of this house with on-again-off-again boyfriend Travis Scott. The couple splashed out a total of $13.5 million (£10.8m) on the super-luxe home but decided to sell up in late 2022 around the same time they split for a second time. With no takers, the pair slashed the price by $2 million (£1.6m), presumably for a quick sale, so maybe this time they are calling it quits on their relationship for good.
Despite the split, the couple appear to have remained close and maintain a friendly relationship for the sake of their two children. And neither will be too upset when the house sells. According to Dirt, the 'trophy house' is considered a "spare", possibly in the same way that Kris Jenner revealed that she forgot she had a condo that she only uses for gift wrapping at Christmas!
Set behind a gated driveway in the coveted 90210 zip code of Beverly Hills Post Office, the private property is surrounded by dramatic views. The main living spaces are all open-plan, while a vast glass wall retracts to offer seamless indoor-outdoor living. European oak flooring, imported stone and modern fixtures run throughout the home against a backdrop of earthy, neutral shades. Kylie deftly hid her second pregnancy during this time, eventually giving birth to their son in February 2022.
A good-sized kitchen with high ceilings boasts white marble worktops and a wealth of rich, ebony cabinets, sitting adjacent to a breakfast room and walk-in pantry. Kylie’s formal dining room lies adjacent, blending seamlessly onto a dining terrace beyond, perfect for those iconic family get togethers.
The mansion is spread over 9,700 square feet and has seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. The primary suite would have been an ideal space for the then loved-up couple with its sweeping canyon views, private balcony and seating area with high ceilings.
The primary bedroom, with sitting area and private balcony also hosts dual master baths complete with a soaking tub and flatscreen TV, dual walk-in closets and even a toasty fireplace. We love Kylie’s dressing room or ‘glam room’ where the TV star and make-up mogul would have been primed and prepped by her glam squad of professional hair stylists and make-up artists.
Each additional bedroom reportedly has its own ensuite bathroom, while daughter Stormi’s was converted into a playroom connected to her delightfully pastel pink-themed bedroom. Elsewhere in the Jenner household, Kylie and the kids would have also enjoyed their blacked-out home cinema, billiard room with marble wet bar, and family room to snuggle up together. But what about the outside?
Resort-style grounds feature manicured gardens full of Italian cypresses and lavender, while the patio and barbecue area descend down to a swimming pool and spa. The couple made moves to sell up eight months after welcoming their baby son into the world in February 2022. The couple were reportedly hoping for $21.9 million (£18.2m) for the property. Records show the pair hold a 50/50 stake in the estate, so they are set to make a healthy profit even at the reduced price.
In March 2019, Kylie decided to splash out again and bought an undeveloped site in California's Madison Club in La Quinta for a reported $3.3 million (£2.6m). The lot came in at just under an acre with mountain and golf course views. On the same street as Kris Jenner's minimalist mansion and just a few doors down from a parcel of land that Kim Kardashian owns, plans for a 15,000-square-foot single-storey home were also said to be included in the deal and building is underway.
Kylie purchased this single-storey modern home in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles for $36.5 million (£29m) in April 2020. Sitting on nearly an acre of land, it comes with two guest apartments and a dedicated guardhouse to keep the star as safe as possible.
Clad in concrete, the property is built like a fortress. Inside, it offers over 19,000 square feet of space and features a chef's kitchen with a marble island, a dining room with panelled walls, seven huge bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.
In the large broken-plan living area, room dividers break up the space and create snug nooks for relaxing and socialising. The glitzy home isn't short of amenities either, with a home theatre, a bar, games rooms, gym and championship-level sports court.
In the same month she bought her Holmby Hills pad, the star splashed out on this empty plot of land for $15 million (£12m), just down the road from Kris Jenner and Khloe Kardashian's homes. The five-acre estate sits behind secure gates and once belonged to Miley Cyrus. The land used to be home to a five-bedroom property, which has since been knocked down, but the previous owners acquired permits to build a brand new 18,000-square-foot home.
Three years later, reports say construction work has finally started on Kylie's dream mansion, which will include a 12-car garage, sports court, guest house and a designated area for security staff. Though not seen in this image, wooden and concrete structures are already visible at the site. Little is known about what the interiors will look like but if past homes are anything to judge by, Kylie may bring in the talents of designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard, who redesigned her main Hidden Hills home.
In 2021, it was reported that Kylie was renting a luxury townhouse in the Big Apple with boyfriend Travis Scott. They attended several events in the city that summer, including New York Fashion Week and the MTV Music Video Awards, so the pad served as their swish home away from home. Steeped in history, the residence was built in 1839 and was owned by famed 19th-century American composer and conductor John Philip Sousa. As Kylie was set to spend the majority of her second pregnancy on the West Coast, the home hit the market for a whopping $26.5 million (£21.2m).
Spread over a huge 8,800 square feet, the lavish townhouse encompasses six storeys. The double-height living room features a contemporary fireplace and exposed brick walls and would've been the perfect place for the pair to relax and unwind. Recently gutted and completely renovated, the home has reportedly been on and off the market since 2012, and also once reportedly faced foreclosure.
Offering six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, the lavish interior also comes with a glass elevator, media room and a wine cellar, to name just a few of the pad's jaw-dropping amenities. The master bedroom sits on its very own private floor and includes an ensuite bathroom, a fireplace and a private terrace that overlooks the garden.
It may be city living but the home isn't short of outside space. The dazzling roof deck boasts a grilling station and a bar, while the fifth-floor private sun terrace features a hot tub, where you can soak up incredible views across the Big Apple's glittering skyline.
To judge by the adorable snaps Kylie posted on her Instagram recently showing the star enjoying family time with Stormi and Aire at her Holmby Hills home, the star is very comfortable right where she is. But with building well underway at her massive Hidden Hills plot, rumours of a new romance with Timothee Chalamet, and season 3 of The Kardashians dropping in May 2023, she may be moving on in the not too distant future. We can’t wait to see what she does with her new dream home!
