International supermodel and new mum, Gigi Hadid has shared a rare glimpse of her amazing home on her mother's farm. Taking to her Instagram stories, Hadid asked her followers to send her the dates they would like to see pictures from, sharing candid shots of her life over the last year. From her gender-neutral nursery to a cute playroom, let's take a look around...
Gigi spent much of her pregnancy quarantining with her husband, Zayn Malik, enjoying the good life at her mother, Yolanda Hadid’s Pennsylvania farm. Their daughter, Khai was born after a 14-hour labour on September 23, 2020, right into Zayn’s arms, Gigi revealed in an interview for her first Vogue solo cover.
Yolanda Hadid, who also shot to fame as one of the stars of the hit TV reality show Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, bought the gorgeous £3.1 million ($4m) country estate in New Hope, Pennsylvania in 2017. With 32 acres of rolling countryside, a beautifully manicured garden and a number of separate residences, the estate has ample room for the new parents to set up a cosy home in their own little farmhouse.
There is a full complement of farmyard animals ranging from Shetland ponies and horses to Highland cows and sheep. To pass the time during the pandemic, Gigi’s been sharing posts of her cooking, horse riding and playing video games plus posting some pictures of her gorgeous new nursery and playroom.
Gigi’s choice of paint samples proves she’s also got her finger on the pulse when it comes to interiors. With a warm terracotta shade on the walls, the nursery is gender-neutral and picks up on some huge trends thanks to a rattan basket, tufted pillows and cane furniture.
The picture shows a shortlist of warm neutral shades from the high-end paint company Sherwin-Williams that Gigi considered using in her nursery. Ranging from yellowy creams to terracotta, a pale shade of Warming Peach, the stronger colour Rojo Dust and the soft pink of Coral Island were all in the running.
Gigi also shared this cute playroom setup that she had put together in a corner of her office. With a play tent, ball pit and piles of soft toys, there is plenty to occupy her little girl when she gets older and it looks like Gigi's office was already pink! On the wall, you can see a framed Masterchef apron, which hangs in pride of place. The model is a keen cook and she won the US Celebrity Masterchef TV show in December 2020.
Gigi has also demonstrated her talent for interior design when she shared pictures of her New York apartment in the cool and quirky Noho neighbourhood. Gigi shelled out £3.1 million ($4m) for the two-bedroom property back in 2016, and has gone for a colourful and eclectic decorating scheme with playful art pieces and nods to her Arabic heritage.
She posted on July 25, 2020: "Spent all of last year designing and curating my passion project / dream spot. Of course it all came together right before quarantining out of the city.... but I’m excited for the time I’ll get to spend enjoying all the special corners that were made with a lil help from some of my favorite creatives (tap!) who embraced my ideas and didn’t call me crazy."
As soon as you enter the apartment you are welcomed with a piece by artist Eamon Harrington, which promises that 'all people are safe here' and costs around £1,200 ($1.5k). There's also a giant yellow pen sculpture tucked into the corner, another example of Gigi's rule-breaking approach to design. The entrance hall also features industrial-style exposed bulb ceiling lights and black frame doors which lead into a bathroom decorated with a collage of iconic covers from The New Yorker.
The star attraction of Gigi's living room has got to her Roche Bobois Mah Jong sofa by Missoni Home. One of the most expensive sofas in the world, the day bed-style product sells for £20,000 ($26k). Gigi has stayed on-brand with the cushions, which are from Jean Paul Gaultier's collection for Roche Bobois. A personal touch sits on the tray table – a beautifully carved 'Hand of Fatima', which is an islamic symbol of good fortune.
The supermodel likes nothing better than to put her culinary skills to good use in the kitchen, which has all the markings of a practical and well-thought-out space. An on-trend mix of open shelving and modern cabinets are matched with a glorious white marble splashback, a gold tap and beautifully fine statement pendant lights.
Like the other rooms in the house, the master bedroom has a boho feel that's cosy and comfortable. We particularly love the basket wall art feature above the headboard. Gigi has been spotted in New York earlier this year and is obviously putting the pad to good use with her brand new family.
