Having spent time living across California in Laurel Canyon, Toluca Lake and Sherman Oaks, Demi Lovato has accumulated an incredible collection of jaw-dropping real estate to date. Today, they live in a sprawling 8,500-square-foot home in the stylish Los Angeles neighbourhood of Studio City. However, the singer wasn't born into such a luxurious lifestyle.
A world away from the glitz and glamour that surrounds them today, Demetria Devonne Lovato was born on 20 August 1992, in Albuquerque, New Mexico and raised in Dallas, Texas. The middle child of three, Demi's parents, Patrick Lovato and Dianna De La Garza, divorced when the singer was just two years old. In 1995, Demi's mum married Demi's stepdad, Eddie De La Garza, who the star has spoken of as a father figure.
Demi's family lived in this three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in the city of Colleyville in northeastern Texas after the divorce. The 3,200-square-foot property was the perfect home for the budding star and today is estimated to be worth $563,000 (£408k).
In the past, Demi has been candid about the hardships the family faced while they were growing up. Their 2017 documentary, Simply Complicated, gave fans a glimpse inside their childhood home, including this gallery wall adorned with family photos.
Growing up, Demi entered and won a number of talent contests and performed in a host of famous venues, including the Dallas Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day halftime show with LeAnn Rimes. However, their career started to gain traction at the age of 10 when Demi became a regular on the children's TV show Barney & Friends, alongside close friend Selena Gomez.
In 2007 at the age of 15, Demi began working with Disney Channel, a move that helped catapult them to fame. Their first role was on As The Bell Rings, however, they were soon cast as Mitchie Torres in Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, alongside the Jonas Brothers.
After this on-screen success, Demi released their first album Don't Forget in 2008 and also joined the Jonas Brothers on their Burnin' Up tour the same year. They went on to release one of their most successful albums, Here We Go Again, in 2009, followed by a further four well-received albums. However, in 2018, the single 'Sober', in which Demi revealed details of their relapse after six years of sobriety, offered a more personal window into the star's struggles in the spotlight.
Back in 2007, when their career was reaching new heights, Demi rented out this home in Toluca Lake as their Californian base. The star stayed in the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom home with their family for two years before moving on.
Spread over three floors, the home spans just over 5,000 square feet of accommodation, offering plenty of space for the young star and their siblings. The living room boasts a double-height ceiling with a custom chandelier and drapes that frame dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows.
The traditional-style kitchen has been decked out in wooden cabinets and stone worktops. However, while many elements of the home's design are classic, it features a state-of-the-art security system, which would have been reassuring for Demi as their fame grew.

The beautiful backyard would've been the perfect spot for relaxing and entertaining, with a pool, a spa and a spacious patio area that's easily accessed through a set of French double doors. Elsewhere on the property, there's also a handy detached two-car garage.
In September 2010, around the time of their 18th birthday, the former child star joined the property ladder and snapped up this cute home for $2.3 million (£1.7m). Purchased by Demi for themselves and their family, the Californian home sits tucked away in the foothills of the suburban neighbourhood of Sherman Oaks.
Bought whilst Demi was on tour with the Jonas Brothers, just before they entered a rehab facility in November of the same year, the walled and gated Spanish-style home has just over 4,000 square feet of space and dates back to 1928. The formal living room boasts a fireplace, arched windows and a vaulted ceiling with exposed trusses.
The four bedrooms and six bathrooms include a spacious master suite with a fireplace, two walk-in wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom with a separate bathtub and shower, while the room's small terrace has views across the San Fernando Valley and beyond.
Other stylish spaces in the main home include a family room with a media centre, a sunken wet bar and an office suite with a built-in desk. Outside there's a detached guesthouse, where Demi is said to have stayed when they wanted privacy from the rest of the family, complete with one bedroom, a full kitchen, living room and bathroom.
The backyard is the perfect private oasis. Packed with beautiful tropical trees, the rear of the property features a patio that leads out onto tiered gardens, a heated swimming pool with a waterfall and a sports court. In November 2020, Demi put the home on the market for $2.6 million (£1.9m) and sold it in January 2021 for the asking price.
In 2016, just as they were releasing their fifth album, Confident, Demi bought this plush Los Angeles home for $8.3 million (£6m). Hidden away in the Hollywood Hills, the mega-mansion sits perched above Sunset Boulevard and benefits from sweeping views of the city and ocean.
It may have been the lap of luxury, but in February 2017 just before Demi moved in, the home was deemed unlivable. A mudslide caused by torrential rain saw an estimated 20 tonnes of earth cascade down the hill, landing on Demi's driveway. It appears the damage was eventually resolved though as Demi was able to move in. However, the star went on to tragically suffer an overdose in the home in 2018.
The four-bedroom, seven-bathroom home sits on over an acre of land and boasts a number of wow-factor living areas, including a relaxed downstairs lounge that backs out onto the manicured garden. The upper floor is home to a party level with a bar, a media room and a huge terrace with breathtaking views.

In 2018, Demi listed the home for $9.5 million (£7m) but having failed to shift it, relisted the house for $9 million (£6.5m). They then decided to put the star-studded home up for rent at a huge $39,500 (£28.7k) a month. The star eventually sold the property in June 2020 for $8.3 million (£6m).
In June 2020, Demi splashed out $2,500 (£1.8k) a night to rent out a mirrored house in Joshua Tree National Park, California with their former fiancé Max Ehrich. Named Invisible House, the famous reflective residence disappears into the landscape, making it the perfect hidden home for a romantic getaway.
With a mirrored glass exterior that offers breathtaking views yet complete privacy for the home's residents, the unusual dwelling is the ultimate in luxury. Sliding glass doors open out onto 90 acres of private desert land and rocky terrain, which are perfect for exploring.

After selling their Sunset Strip home in June 2020, Demi was in the market for a new property, and they finally settled on this spectacular modern farmhouse. Set in the chilled-out Los Angeles suburb of Studio City, the star snapped up the home for $7 million (£5m) in September 2020.
Built in 2020, the new-build home is spread out over 8,500 square feet and features a beautiful open-plan living area with wide-plank hardwood floors, high ceilings and plenty of natural light.
