Since being sworn in as vice president of the United States, Kamala Harris has been shaking up her real estate portfolio and switching addresses. Just days after leaving the President's guest house for her official residence, One Observatory Circle, it appears the VP is ready to downsize her property assets. Click or scroll for more...
Since she moved into her official residence at One Observatory Circle, it seems that Kamala Harris is no longer in need of her apartment in Washington, D.C. The vice president has put her swanky city condo up for sale. Not the only sale she has made recently, Harris also sold her San Francisco apartment in February for $860,000 (£627k).
On the market for just shy of $2 million (£1.5m), Harris bought her Washington, D.C. home in 2017 for around $1.8 million (£1.3m), according to the Wall Street Journal. Located in the swanky Westlight building, the two-bedroom home is one of 71 units in the 10-storey building. It would have been the perfect place for the politician to live when she was elected to the Senate and needed a base in the capital.
Spread out over 1,700 square feet, the first-floor home boasts natural oak hardwood floors throughout and an all-white kitchen with a custom centre island and high-end appliances.
With a huge walk-in closet, there would have been plenty of space for Harris and her husband, Douglas Emhoff to store their suits. In the listing photos, all the furniture and belongings have been removed, but it's still easy to get a sense of the vice president's sophisticated style.
The bathrooms are modern and uncluttered with teak shower floors and double sinks. Sitting just off the master bedroom, which looks out over the central courtyard, this space would have made the perfect sanctuary after a busy day.
Upstairs, an expansive rooftop space is home to a grilling terrace and a swimming pool surrounded by wooden decking and sunset views. It's the perfect backdrop for city living!
