Since being sworn in as vice president of the United States, Kamala Harris has been shaking up her real estate portfolio and switching addresses. After moving into her official residence, One Observatory Circle in April this year, and putting her Washington, DC home on the market six months ago, it looks like the VP has finally found a buyer. The vice president listed her swanky city condo in April this year for just shy of $2 million (£1.5m). However, after languishing without any offers for months, Kamala reduced the price to just under $1.9 million (£1.4m) in July, and according to the New York Post, enlisted the help of a designer to stage the home. Just two months later, the VP found a buyer and sold the apartment for the new asking price. Not the only real estate sale she has made recently, Harris also sold her San Francisco apartment in February for $860,000 (£633k).
Harris bought her Washington, DC home in 2017 for around $1.8 million (£1.3m), according to The Wall Street Journal. Located in the swanky Westlight building, the two-bedroom home is one of 71 units in the 10-storey building. It would have been the perfect, contemporary base for the politician when she was elected to the Senate in the same year.
Spread out over 1,700 square feet, the first-floor home boasts natural oak hardwood floors throughout and an all-white kitchen with a custom centre island, a walk-in pantry and plenty of high-end appliances.
Featuring a huge walk-in closet, there would have been plenty of space for Harris and her husband, Douglas Emhoff, to store their suits. The latest listing photos showed the home packed with swish furniture brought in by Harris' designer, however, it's still easy to get a sense of the vice president's sophisticated style.
The bathrooms are modern and uncluttered with teak shower floors and double sinks. Sitting just off the master bedroom, which looks out over the central courtyard, this space would have been the perfect sanctuary after a busy day.
As well as a high-end apartment, residents of Westlight get access to a whole host of plush amenities including a private clubroom, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and a 24-hour concierge desk, to name but a few.
Upstairs, the building's expansive rooftop is home to a terrace with a grill area, as well as a luxurious swimming pool surrounded by wooden decking that offers breathtaking views of the glittering skyline. Just look at that sunset – it's the perfect backdrop for city living!
