Kicking serious butt on the big screen, Hollywood's top action stars have pulled in untold millions at the box office, so it stands to reason that their properties would be just as awesome as their top-grossing films. Many boast heart-pumping features like bulletproof windows, state-of-the-art gyms and tricked-out home cinemas, though some are surprisingly restrained. Beloved by kids and adults alike, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has navigated a remarkable journey from pro wrestler to the highest-paid actor in Hollywood. In July it was reported the superstar is set to make history for his role in the upcoming movie Red One, earning a staggering $50 million (£39m) to play Commander Callum Drift. The extraordinary sum, combined with earnings from the Fast & Furious and Jumanji franchises, will boost Johnson's already stellar net worth, which is estimated to fall somewhere between $270 million (£209m) and $800 million (£618m). Wherever it falls on that extraordinary scale, this is one action star with more than enough cash to splash on an amazing property portfolio – and for him to make a "milestone" seven-figure donation to a relief fund supporting those affected by the Hollywood strikes. What a guy!

The muscle-man's main home is this sprawling Beverly Hills estate, which he reportedly paid $27.8 million (£21.6m) for in 2021. The six-bedroom, 12-bathroom house sits on 3.67 acres and is one of the largest in the exclusive LA neighbourhood of Beverly Park. Covering more than 17,500 square feet, the home has been described as a "complete resort" thanks to its incredible amenities – although we'd expect nothing less for a star whose films have raked in over $5 billion (£3.9bn) dollars worldwide.

Naturally enough for one of Hollywood's legendary leading men, The Rock has a plush home movie theatre that is bound to be a firm favourite of his three daughters, Jasmine, Tiana and Simone, who's already a pro wrestler at the age of 20. We're guessing his girls love to kick back with their dad and watch Moana or one of the many other movies he's appeared in.

As well as an indoor pool for rare rainy days, there's also a tennis court to keep the whole family entertained, as well as an outdoor pool with spa, music room with recording studio, elevator and – of course – a large gym where the star can maintain that famous physique. And with his very own baseball diamond tucked within the grounds, we wonder if The Rock invites any of his famous neighbours – who include Adele, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, Rod Stewart, Denzel Washington and Samuel L. Jackson – over for a game?

The Rock has put his mega-earnings to good use, picking up numerous homes across America, including a farm in Virginia, where he raises bass and a variety of other fish, and, allegedly, as many as ten homes in Florida. The entrepreneur, who owns a major share in Teremana Tequila, the fastest-growing tequila brand of all time, bought this impressive Mediterranean-style villa from former Miami Dolphin player Vernon Carey in 2012.

Dropping $3.4 million (£2.6m) on the pad, it has all the trappings of a star home, including a chef's kitchen, lavishly appointed bedrooms, an oak panelled office and a home cinema, although we suspect this luxe but slightly dated living area was updated after Johnson purchased the property. While all of that is impressive, this home's most awesome feature is The Rock's 'iron paradise'...

Hands-down the baddest home gym on the planet, the cavernous fitness centre is loaded with every piece of workout equipment imaginable, from a top-of-the-range Star Trac functional trainer, which is rarely seen outside of a commercial gym, to numerous Hammer Strength, cardio and other machines, 150-pounds dumbbells, Iron Grip plates and more. There's even a stylish kitchen in the space. Despite all this, The Rock reportedly waved goodbye to the home in 2019, earning a nice little profit at $4.5 million (£3.5m). 

The Rock has another permanent gym located in a barn on his Virginia farm, which he calls the Country Iron Paradise. And when the action star is on location, he brings along the travelling Iron Paradise, a tented temporary gym loaded with the same sort of kit he has in his permanent facilities, which must cost a fortune to transport and weights up to 40,000 pounds.

As well as the Virginian farm, the megastar snapped up a similar, beautiful equestrian estate in Georgia in October 2019 for just over $9 million (£7m). Built in 2005, the French provincial-style mansion sits at the heart of 46 acres of rolling pasture, which includes a 12-stall horse barn with attached riding arena, a 150-year-old farmhouse, a lake and a saltwater pool with a cabana. Inside, the eight-bedroom home has a panelled library, wine cellar, full-finished basement and a number of stone fireplaces. We can't figure out why he let it go, but he listed it just one year later, making a loss at $7.5 million (£5.8m).

Of course, with a busy filming schedule that takes him all over the world, Johnson often rents a home while he's away on location. In 2018, while filming Fast And Furious spin-off movie Hobbs And Shaw, the action hero leased this $21,000 (£16.4k) a month Palladian style country home in Surrey, England. The eight-bedroom home was previously rented by former Hollywood power-couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and boasts two swimming pools, a cinema and a gym.

In September 2020, Johnson rented Mariah Carey's Atlanta mansion, which she bought for $5.7 million (£4.4m) in 2021. Mariah sold the property in June 2023 and it's just as well because we doubt The Rock would have been invited back any time soon after he ripped the electric security gate from its hinges with his bare hands. After a power outage prevented him from leaving to join the cast and crew waiting for him on set, the actor decided to skip the 45-minute wait for a technician and handled it himself. "I did what I had to do," he wrote on Instagram. When the techs finally turned up to fix the gate, they were said to be “in disbelief and equally scared". We're not surprised!

An actor and musical star since the 1990s, Australian-born Hugh Jackman is best known for his breakthrough role as Wolverine in the X-Men franchise. Worth a mega $180 million (£140m), the triple-threat performer has invested some serious dough into his property portfolio, not least his latest New York City-based penthouse...

In early August 2022, Realtor reported that Jackman laid down an eye-watering $21.1 million (£16.4m) on this luxury condo on 100 Eleventh Avenue, located in Chelsea's famed gallery district and in close proximity to the Meatpacking District, Whitney Museum, and new Little Island, according to the listing.

Located in the famous Jean Nouvel-designed building, Jackman’s penthouse hosts 4,675 square feet of living space where he can stretch out and flex his performative muscles. The star will enjoy the ‘music room’, with a grand piano already set up next to incredible floor-to-ceiling windows, perfect for a sing-song with a view. The three-bedroom abode boasts expansive vistas of the NYC skyline, stretching across the Hudson River to the Empire State Building.

Even more idyllic at sunset, Jackman's new West Chelsea designer pad boasts an enviable stainless steel eat-in chef's kitchen, complete with a glass breakfast bar and spacious dining area for cuisine with a view. With three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms, the listing mentions a library or fourth bedroom depending on whether the X-Men star fancies curling up with a good book or an extra guest.

Outside, over 3,700 square feet of space awaits, including a large loggia and separate terrace. Upstairs, the roof terrace is divided into multiple dining and lounging areas and has its own outdoor kitchen. Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness listed their longtime deluxe triplex in the West Village neighbourhood for $38.9 million (£32.4m) in June 2022, though it has since been taken off the market. The Hollywood duo purchased the boutique condo in 2008 for $21 million (£16.3m), according to Mansion Global, which is located across the eighth, ninth and 10th floors of the Meier South Tower, and is said to be the only individual apartment to have been designed by the building’s architect, Richard Meier.

Sandra Bullock has starred in her fair share of action movies, such as Speed and Gravity. But along with her big-screen success, this Hollywood hero also has a penchant for property. Worth a whopping $250 million (£196m), the Blockbuster star ploughed some of her considerable earnings into a real estate investment amid the enviable enclaves of Beverly Hills in February 2021.

Splashing $2.7 million (£2.1m) on this Beverly Hills bungalow in March 2021, Bullock had profits in mind, reportedly purchasing the property to lease out as opposed to live in. Built in 1946, the three-bedroom abode spans 2,800 square feet of living space inside, though the interiors perhaps needed some updating before Sandy could list the property for rent…

Clashing patterns, faux animal rugs and black chandeliers dominate the living spaces, while dark stained wooden floors compete for attention. According to the New York Post, this is the Blockbuster star’s 17th home, in a property portfolio reported to be worth an eye-watering $13.7 million (£10.7m).

Dark wood floors also stretch out into the main suite, where they are met by a neutral colour scheme for a calmer atmosphere. A luxurious marble bathroom sits adjacent to the primary bedroom, while a home cinema and library can be found elsewhere on the property.

A wall of French windows in the living room open out onto the idyllic backyard space, complete with a custom-cut pool with a waterfall. The garden is surrounded by tall, mature trees for added privacy. While it’s unknown what the Bowmont Drive bungalow will go for, similar properties in the area reach up to $42,000 (£32.8k) a month, according to the New York Post. A savvy purchase for this action star. 

From being crowned the world’s second highest-paid model in 2004 by Forbes, to becoming a science fiction and action movie star, Ukrainian-born, American-based Milla Jovovich was crowned "queen of the kick-butt" by music channel VH1 in 2006. Alongside her many starring roles, Jovovich owns multiple properties with director husband, Paul W Anderson, including their longtime Los Angeles residence, which hit the market for $14 million (£10.9m) in April 2022.

The Mediterranean-style estate spans almost 11,000 square feet, with a guesthouse and long gated driveway that leads to the main mansion. Nestled behind Italian cypresses atop a knoll, far away from the Beverly Hills paparazzi, the Tuscan-style abode is adorned with elaborate stonework and manicured vines.

Inside, ceilings stretch two stories high towards dark wood beams, with an extravagant, lengthy fireplace offering an imposing focal point in the reception area, alongside a welcoming grand piano in the far corner. Multiple sets of arched French doors and a pair of skylights pour natural light into the space, illuminating the expanse of stone flooring.

The master suite boasts a fireplace and sitting area, plus sliding doors that open directly onto a stone terrace beyond. More dark-framed arch windows and French doors can be found in the plush, marble bathroom, with a built-in soaking tub. The suite also includes a handsome, dark wooden wardrobe and vanity unit. Elsewhere on the property, the pair would also have enjoyed a mahogany wood library and a fully sound-proofed home cinema.

Bruce Willis made big bucks from the Die Hard action movies, not to mention pictures like Armageddon, Striking Distance and The Last Boy Scout, but landed his biggest payday from non-action film The Sixth Sense, scoring $100 million (£78m), the most an actor has earned from a single movie. His flicks have grossed nearly $5.3 billion (£4.1bn), while the star's fortune is estimated at $250 million (£196m). The hugely talented star sadly stepped away from his acting career after being diagnosed with dementia, so let's take a look at where he'll be spending his well-earned retirement...

Over the course of his long career, Willis has owned various high-end homes in Malibu, Los Angeles, New York and elsewhere. The latest addition to his prized property portfolio is this trad-modern new build in Brentwood, which he bought together with his model wife Emma Heming Willis in 2019 for $9.8 million (£7.7m).

Spanning a total of 13,048 square feet, the seven-bedroom, 12-bathroom beauty was staged for sale with elegant neutral furnishings, but Willis and his wife have since livened it up with pops of bright colour, adding vibrantly hued Missoni Home cushions to the living room sofa and vivid artworks to the walls, though the overall vibe remains fairly minimal.

As well as nicely sized living and family rooms, there's a marble-clad eat-in kitchen, dining room and wine store on the ground floor, while the bedrooms upstairs include a master suite with huge dual showroom walk-in closets. The highlight though is the lower level, which contains a dinky indoor pool, sauna and steam room, and a movie theatre with comfy seating and a retro popcorn maker.

The lower level also houses the gym, which is decked out with the latest equipment and fitness gadgetry, including an interactive smart workout mirror. Emma is shown here toning up in the space. With Willis taking a step back from his busy acting career, we'd bet her fitness-fanatic husband will be putting in even more weight-training time, alongside some rest and relaxation.

Canadian actress Tatiana Maslany is likely maintaining her muscles as she's starring as She-Hulk in the series She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. The latest Marvel VIP first rose to fame playing numerous characters in the science fiction thriller series Orphan Black, winning a Primetime Emmy Award and two Critics' Choice Awards amongst other accolades. Maslany is now said to be worth $5 million (£3.9m). 

Built in 1948, this ranch-style abode resides in San Fernando Valley, LA, nestled within the equestrian-friendly Shadow Hills community. Maslany purchased the home for $2.1 million (£1.6m) in June 2022 and put up a fight in the "fierce bidding war", according to Dirt, paying more than $700,000 (£586k) over the initial $1.4 million (£1.1m) asking price.

Once inside the 1,860-square-foot abode, you'll be greeted by charming wood-panelled ceilings and white painted walls that sing against vintage light fixtures, while black-trim windows in the main living space provide idyllic views out across the secluded grassy garden and veranda.

The Emmy-winner’s galley-style kitchen boasts butcher block worktops and a wealth of jade cabinetry with rich, golden handles. Elsewhere, four bedrooms await in separate wings of the Californian home, including a wood-panelled guest bedroom that boasts direct access to a stunning black-tiled bathroom.

Stretching out over a quarter of an acre, the woodsy grounds play host to a pool and sundeck with a wet bar, a brick terrace for impromptu BBQs and even a cactus garden with a secluded lounge area, providing impressive views of Verdugo Mountain. A welcome escape from gruelling filming schedules, we're sure.

Arnie, of course, needs no introduction. The Austrian-born pro bodybuilder-turned-action movie star-turned-politician was box-office platinum back in the day, and his long list of films – from the Terminator movies to Total Recall and True Lies – have made in excess of $4 billion (£3.2bn). Needless to say, Schwarzenegger has amassed a formidable fortune, pegged at some $400 million (£311m).

While the veteran A-lister has a commercial real estate portfolio worth over a reported $100 million (£77.7m) and has owned an array of abodes around the world, his primary residence is this seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom Mediterranean-style manse in LA's affluent Brentwood suburb, which is also home to LeBron James, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, Gwyneth Paltrow and a myriad of other big-name celebrities.

Schwarzenegger bagged the 14,500-square-foot property together with his now ex-wife Maria Shriver in 2002 for close to $11.9 million (£9.2m) according to SFGATE, and Arnie got to keep the manse following their divorce. The former governor of California is pictured here posing with his Winston Churchill statue in the living room, which also features a mean-looking model of a tank. Arnie is actually a trained tank driver and owns a full-sized version, too. 

Moving on, the office has more than its fair share of tough-guy features. Schwarzenegger is shown here with his daughter Christina, surrounded by mementos he's collected over the years, including a scarily life-like foam alligator prop from the movie Eraser, a swish snooker table and trophies from his bodybuilding days.

The megastar's pro lifting career is now a distant memory, but he still pumps iron as often as he can, as you can see from this photo snapped in the home gym area, which interestingly includes a chess set. Other standout features of the sprawling villa include a gourmet kitchen, vast pool and hot tub, tennis courts, alfresco terraces and acres of gardens, where his pet donkey and miniature horse can frolic to their hearts' content.

Natalie Portman began her illustrious acting career at just 11 years old, when she and fellow child-star Britney Spears were understudies on Broadway in 1992. Since then, Portman has taken centre stage in many Hollywood classics, from Leon to Black Swan and the Star Wars prequel trilogy. She rejoined the Marvel universe in summer 2022 with Thor 4, and is now reportedly worth an impressive $90 million (£70m).

Portman’s chic, contemporary abode proudly resides on the Montecito foothills across 10.4 acres, looking out over expansive ocean views from dramatic glass walls. The Santa Barbara estate was designed by Barton Meyers in 2008 and snapped up by Portman and husband Benjamin Millepied in 2017 for $6.5 million (£5.1m).

Comprised of steel, glass and concrete, this homage to midcentury modern features 1960s-style furnishings, Danish leather lounge chairs and curved wooden coffee tables. The oversized circular lampshades that hang against the ocean backdrop appear to be a nod to the 1960s TV series The Prisoner and its iconic floating white balloons. On the other side of a small dividing wall sits the kitchen, creating a free-flowing living area.

For a cosier feel, the reading room frames its roaring fireplace with two alcoves filled with books, finished with a sumptuous tapestry rug and more leather armchairs. But the Californian climes filter in through the expansive floor-to-ceiling window, through which palm trees and large Montecito rocks can be spied.

Outside the 4,000-square-foot home, you’ll find plentiful palm and eucalyptus trees shading a broad concrete patio, grassy lawn and a rectangular pool, as well as this designer metal fireplace. Although the estate was never listed on the market, records show Portman sold this particular Montecito home in February 2021 to a cash buyer for $8 million (£6.2m), making a fairly tidy profit. 

Israeli star Gal Gadot started out as a model, going on to be crowned Miss Israel 2004, and served two years in the army in her home country before she made the move into action films, landing a role in 2009's Fast & Furious. She hit the big time in 2016 starring as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and has since played the character in three additional movies. Her flicks have grossed over $4 billion (£3.1bn), with her net worth estimated at $30 million (£23.3m).

Gadot spends much of her time with her property developer husband Yaron Varsano and their two kids at the family home in Tel Aviv, but that hasn't stopped the actress from building an enviable real estate portfolio Stateside. She got the ball rolling in 2017 with the purchase of a $5.6 million (£4.4m) manse in the Hollywood Hills, and followed it up at the start of 2021 by buying this Malibu beachfront condo.

The Wonder Woman star splurged $5 million (£3.9m) on the two-bedroom, three-bathroom property, which was bought from Thai philanthropist and Miss Universe 1988 Bui Simon, who bagged it in 1994 for just $850,000 (£661k). The contemporary pad is located in one of Malibu's most prime locations within an exclusive gated complex, hence the hefty price tag.

The spacious open-concept living area features a cosy fireplace, as does the master bedroom, and the entire condo is tastefully neutral in decoration, meaning Gadot was able to put her personal mark on it with ease. Unfortunately, there's no room for a gym, so the action star has to work out elsewhere when she's staying at the property.

The condo's star attraction is the roomy balcony that looks out over the beach and Pacific Ocean, making it the perfect place to relax and marvel at the view. But all this does come at a cost. In addition to the $5 million (£3.9m) she paid for the retreat, Gadot is having to hand over $1,240 (£964) a month in homeowners association fees.

Like his most famous role Rocky, Sly Stallone struggled in his early career but eventually rose from underdog to become one of the leading action movie actors of the 80s and 90s, starring in the Rambo films, Cobra, Demolition Man and more. He later enjoyed a resurgence in the 2010s, with The Expendables movies and other box office hits. All in all, his flicks have made almost $4 billion (£3.1bn) and the star's fortune is pegged at $400 million (£311m).

The Hollywood stalwart owns several spectacular homes, including a $35 million (£27.2m) compound in Florida's Palm Beach. But the crown jewel of his real estate portfolio was this magnificent Mediterranean-style mansion in Beverly Hills, which sits on 3.5 acres of beautifully manicured grounds within the glitzy gated enclave of North Beverly Park.

Custom-built by the actor and director in 1994, the dreamy estate rocks a total of eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, and a plethora of exquisitely decorated rooms besides, including formal living and dining rooms, a family room, a stunning kitchen with a gorgeous seating area and an imposing master suite with dual baths, as well as a sauna and steam room. And that's not even the half of it.

Aside from the resort-style pool, the property also features a cigar room, sumptuously upholstered home cinema, stunning bespoke bar and an office that the star has decked out with Rocky memorabilia. There's also a two-storey guesthouse on the estate designed by "King of the Megamansion" architect Richard Landry.

Naturally, there's also an exceedingly well-equipped gym in the property. After deciding to move permanently to Palm Beach, Sly put the estate up for sale in January 2021 with an asking price of $110 million (£85m), making the property one of the most expensive in America, but he had a hard time shifting it. In May 2021, he dropped the price to $85 million (£66m) and shaved off a further $5 million (£3.9m) in October. In early 2022, the property was reportedly snapped up by British songstress Adele for $58 million (£45m).

Having honed his action movie chops as a seventh-dan black belt in aikido, Steven Seagal shot to stardom during the early 90s in high-octane classics like Under Siege and Executive Decision. All in all, his flicks have grossed more than $722 million (£561m). But though the martial art pro's current net worth of $14 million (£10.9m) isn't too shabby at all, his fortune has declined big-time since his acting heyday.

Seagal has held the deeds to some super-impressive real estate over the years, including a ranch in Montana and a Brentwood compound that was snapped up by Reece Witherspoon. But the most jaw-dropping home of them all has got to be his fortress-like mansion in the rugged Sonoran Desert on the outskirts of Scottsdale. 

Sitting on 12 acres within the gated community of Carefree Ranch Homesteads, the remote five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom estate was bought by the action star in 2010 for $3.5 million (£2.7m). Incredibly, the 8,973-square-foot property's floor-to-ceiling glass windows are totally bulletproof, and the extra-thick stone walls are no doubt impenetrable to gunfire too.

In fact, Seagal has a penchant for all things bulletproof and is even said to own a bulletproof kimono. As well as boasting an expansive open-plan great room, the main house features a swish atrium, family and games rooms, slick chef's kitchen, a master suite and bathroom with a cool lava-effect wall and, as you'd expect, a plush screening room. There's also a separate guesthouse on the estate.

The top draw, though, is most definitely the terrace, which wows with an outdoor kitchen, infinity pool and breathtaking desert vistas. After several failed attempts, Seagal eventually offloaded the property in July 2021 for just under $3.6 million (£2.8m), $155,000 (£120k) above the list price, but only $50,000 (£38.8k) more than he paid for the estate back in 2011.

Angelina Jolie has been described as the first bona fide female action star. Unlike stars Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hamilton, who had only one defining action role, Jolie has killed it in the Tomb Raider movies, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Wanted, Salt, Eternals and more. The A-lister's films have grossed more than $3.6 billion (£2.8bn) and she is said to be worth $120 million (£93.3m).

The action heroine has been wrangling over her shared property portfolio with ex-husband Brad Pitt since 2016, but has made one major purchase since the split: the storied Cecil B DeMille compound in LA's leafy Los Feliz neighbourhood. In 2017, Jolie paid a reported $24.5 million (£19.1m) for the beguiling six-bedroom, 10-bathroom estate, which comprises a 7,500-square-foot main house, pool house and guesthouse totalling 3,500-square-feet and 2.1 acres of grounds.

Brimming with classic Hollywood glamour, the principal Italianate Revival manse was built in 1913 and bought by the renowned director not long after. It was extensively upgraded in the early 2000s, and great care was taken to preserve the original features, as you can see from this shot of the beautifully preserved living room.

With its shaker cabinets and vintage stove, the kitchen has been equally well-preserved, as have the other rooms in the main property. These range from a mahogany-panelled dining room, family room, study and traditional library to a master bedroom that delights with an ornate fireplace and a private terrace.

The pool house contains a fully equipped gym – exactly what Jolie needs to prep for her next action movie role – that has the feel of a bygone age, despite the modern equipment. Described as Old Hollywood in style, the pool itself is overlooked by a pretty teahouse, while the idyllic gardens are planted with rose bushes and mature trees.

Starring as Marvel’s Thor since 2011, Chris Hemsworth is no stranger to the world of action heroes. The Australian actor began his career playing Kim Hyde in TV soap Home And Away, before branching out into Hollywood roles. Appearing in Forbes' World's Highest-Paid Actors list in 2014, 2015 and 2018, the Hemsworth brother is worth a reported $130 million (£101m).

Alongside his famous brothers, Liam and Luke, Chris owned this modern Malibu retreat that they purchased together in 2015 for just under $3.5 million (£2.7m). Surrounded by lush landscapes and dramatic mountainous views, the Santa Monica abode was sold by the brothers in 2021 for a little over $4.2 million (£3.3m).

We’re sure the celebrity siblings enjoyed many a delicious breakfast or raucous A-list party in the open-plan chef’s kitchen and dining area, which offers exquisite views across the Pacific Ocean. More alfresco entertaining space awaits via the large adjoining deck, accessible through floor-to-ceiling sliders.

Another view of the kitchen area showcases the restaurant-grade Viking, Wolfe and Sub-Zero appliances, quartz countertops and a 750-bottle refrigerated wine cellar. An avid martial arts enthusiast from the get-go, Jason Statham was a member of Britain's diving team and pursued a modelling career before he got into acting, bagging his big break in Guy Ritchie's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. A move to Hollywood followed, and the star's subsequent movies, which include the Fast & Furious film series, have made almost $1.4 billion (£1.1bn). His net worth is pegged at $90 million (£70m).

After a long stint in Tinseltown, the action hero has headed home with his model/actress fiancée Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and their son Jack, swapping their two mid-century Californian pads for a Victorian townhouse in London's posh Chelsea district, where Statham supports the local football team. The pair's priciest US property, this hip Malibu escape, sold in 2020 for $18.5 million (£14.4m).

Having bought the five-bedroom, five-bathroom place in 2009 for $10.6 million (£8.3m), the star made a very tidy profit. A fan of less-is-more Danish-inspired mid-century design, Statham showcased the property together with his impeccable good taste in Architectural Digest back in 2019, and the magazine has featured his revamped Hollywood Hills home to boot, which has also been offloaded.

Statham completely remodelled “the really tired old surfing house”, effectively rebuilding the ramshackle property from the bottom up, while retaining its distinct original features. Unlike many stars, who hire interior designers to kit out their homes, Statham took charge of the refurb and decoration himself.

All the furnishings and lighting were sourced from LA's Denmark 50 store, which specialises in mid-century Danish classics, and the artworks were carefully curated by the A-lister. The end result is serene and relaxingly low-key Scandi perfection. Statham decided against installing a gym in the property, opting instead to work out and prep for roles at stunt performing training facility 87Eleven. 

Tom Cruise's enduring and illustrious acting career has seen him take top billing in a wide variety of movies, including a ton of action films, from Top Gun and War of the Worlds to the Misson: Impossible flicks. His body of work has grossed nearly $10.3 billion (£8bn), more than any other star in our round-up, and Cruise is the richest too, with an estimated fortune of $600 million (£467m). 

The Hollywood leading man has built up a substantial real estate portfolio over the years, from palatial homes in LA, including a Scientologist retreat, to an English manor and Florida penthouse. But the most majestic property he's ever owned has got to be this epic ranch in the mountains of Telluride in Colorado.

The action hero bought the awe-inspiring 320-acre plot in the early 90s and spent several years constructing a star-worthy estate, which was the setting of his famous 2008 interview with Oprah Winfrey, and where he captured the very first images of his daughter Suri. The main 10,000-square-foot residence is expertly crafted from bleached cedar timbers and native stone.

The interiors are wonderfully cosy with church-like vaulted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling fireplaces and large windows that provide unforgettable alpine views. There are four bedrooms and six bathrooms in the property, along with a media room, fitness centre, spa, den, homely chef's kitchen and wet bar. 

There's also a separate three-bedroom lodge on the estate, where Cruise would have hosted his VIP guests over the years. Despite his obvious fondness for the place, the star put it on the market in March 2021 for $39.5 million (£30.8m) and in no time at all the estate had sold at the full asking price, which is a testament to its all-round awesomeness.

Shaking off her early-career English rose persona, Kate Beckinsale made a beeline for Hollywood in the early 2000s and established herself as one its most successful action movie actresses, appearing in the Underworld movies, Van Helsing, Contraband and the Total Recall remake. To date, the star's pictures have grossed almost $1.6 billion (£1.3bn) and her net worth amounts to $25 million (£20m).

Beckinsale put her long-time Brentwood home on the market in August 2021 for just under $4 million (£3.1m). It sold within weeks, and no wonder. The four-bedroom, five-bathroom New England-style pad, which spans 3,603 square feet, is an absolute delight. The actress bought the property in 2006 for $3.6 million (£2.8m), which makes the $4 million (£3.1m) it went for quite the bargain, hence the quick sale.

Hidden away on a ridge above Mandeville Canyon, the adorable property is as secluded as they come. The airy interiors, which are modern yet warm and calming, are elegantly decorated with pristine white walls and hardwood flooring, and several rooms feature stone fireplaces for added snugness.

The open-concept living and kitchen area segues beautifully into the dining room, as well as the other spaces on the ground floor, which include a family room plus a combined library and study. Moving upstairs, the master bedroom is connected to a marble bathroom with both rooms benefitting from a two-sided fireplace.

The home's piece-de-resistance, though, is the charming spa, which is located in a Victorian-style cottage accessed by a private bridge that extends over the picture-perfect backyard. Despite the property's seclusion, Beckinsale reportedly encountered a stalker in her home on 25 April 2020, which may have been behind her decision to sell it. She's now living in an ultra-contemporary and presumably more secure mansion in the Hollywood Hills.

Legendary action movie star Jackie Chan is famed for his martial arts and gift for comic slapstick, which have served him well throughout his glittering film career of over six decades. The Hong Kong-born actor's movies have made nearly $2.7 billion (£2.1bn), while his net worth is estimated at $400 million (£313m).

Chan has owned properties in Hong Kong, mainland China, Australia, Thailand and the US. Out of all the real estate he's held the deeds to, the most magnificent is this super-fancy gated French-style mansion in Beverly Hills, which he bought for $3 million (£2.3m) in 1998 and sold on for $6.3 million (£4.9m) in 2006, according to the LA Times.

The 7,638-square-foot manse is like a mini Versailles, though it was built not that long ago – in the 1980s, in fact. The showy property, which has six bedrooms and five-and-a-half-bathrooms, consists of a wealth of high-ceiling formal rooms graced with high-end touches aplenty, including elaborate white marble fireplaces and gilded Louis XIV-style wall panels.

There's also a gourmet kitchen, which – like several other rooms in the trophy home, including the master bedroom – features a rotunda nook, plus a wood-panelled family room with a step-down bar and temperature-controlled wine room, which is probably packed with fine vintage French wine and champagne.

The property's meticulously landscaped grounds are just as regal. Encompassing around three-quarters of an acre, they contain a circular motor court with a fountain, a flagstone patio and an outdoor dining area with a built-in barbecue, along with a large pool complete with a waterfall feature.

Nicolas Cage lit up the silver screen at the height of his career, nailing lead roles in numerous action movies such as Con Air and Face/Off, as well as films in other genres. In total, his pictures have pulled in almost $4.8 billion (£3.8bn), but while the star is said to have made at least $200 million (£167m) all in all, his much-publicised out-of-control spending has whittled his fortune down to an estimated $25 million (£19.6m).

In 2009, the spendthrift actor had fallen on hard times having allegedly splurged on 15 luxury homes, including the haunted mansion of infamous serial killer Madame LaLaurie in New Orleans, which he lost to foreclosure that year, and this Tudor-style manor in Bel Air that the star bought in 1998 for $6.5 million (£5m).

The former home of Dean Martin and Tom Jones, the 11,817-square-foot property, which features six bedrooms and nine bathrooms, was given a no-holds-barred makeover by Cage, who sank ridiculous amounts of money into the property. In the end, he owed a staggering $18 million (£14.1m) on the home, as reported in the LA Times.

The bizarre overhaul, which a local realtor described as “frat house bordello”, resulted in rooms painted in garish hues, sconces modelled from a cast of Cage's arm, a bright red dragon sculpture, an electric train that inexplicably chugged around the breakfast room and walls plastered with hundreds of framed comic book covers.

Other OTT additions included an Olympic-sized pool, 35-seat movie theatre and professional projection room and a capacious wine cellar. As you've probably guessed, Cage was forced to sell up and when the property finally came up for auction in 2010, it sold for $10.5 million (£8.2m), a fraction of the $35 million (£27.4m) guide price, with prospective buyers potentially put off by the whacky décor.

Daniel Craig has attained icon status thanks to his raw and brooding take on James Bond after assuming the role of 007 in 2006 and starring as the British secret agent in five blockbuster movies. Craig has also played action roles in other films including Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. In total, the actor's flicks have grossed almost $3.8 billion (£3bn), and his net worth is approximately $160 million (£125m).

Paragons of British reserve, Craig and his actress wife Rachel Weisz don't have social media and aren't ones to show off their homes to the press, so details about their properties are sketchy, but the couple reportedly own this handsome brownstone on the aptly named Strong Place in Brookyn's Cobble Hill, which they are said to have acquired in 2018 for just under $6.8 million (£5.3m).

Previously, the couple are thought to have owned an $11.5 million (£9m) penthouse in New York's SoHo, along with a Victorian terraced house in London's leafy Queen's Park, which is home to Thandie Newton, Rita Ora, Dua Lipa and writer Zadie Smith. Interestingly, the pair purchased the fixer-upper from novelist Martin Amis and his wife Isabel Fonseca.

While it does look like it needed a lot of work in these photos, the 6,000-square-foot property, which is arranged over five floors and has six bedrooms and four full bathrooms, was completely renovated in 2011, with everything from a lift and new heating and AC systems added, while a replacement roof was constructed and repair work undertaken following a fire in 2016, which damaged the top storey.

As the original listing states, the property provided the famous couple with a blank slate to revamp it to their liking. As well as the high-ceiling reception rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms, the house came with a kitchen loaded with top-end Liebherr, Gaggenau and Viking appliances, fine cabinetry and marble countertops, plus this bijou backyard, which has heaps of potential.
