Where does Kim Kardashian live?
The social media influencer, entrepreneur and aspiring attorney has lived in a variety of homes around the Los Angeles area, including Bel Air and Beverly Hills. She currently splits her time with her four children between her Hidden Hills mansion, which she now owns entirely since she bought out ex-husband Kanye West, and a beautiful beach house in Malibu. But where did the most famous Kardashian grow up?

Before the split, the Kardashian family lived together in this Beverley Hills 90210 manse, a short hop from Rodeo Drive. According to Realtor, after tying the knot in 1978, newly married Kris and Rob splashed out the tiny sum of $383,500 (£301k) on the home a year later, eventually selling in 1994 for a huge $1.5 million (£1.2m).

Where did Kim Kardashian grow up?
In 1998, seven years after her mum Kris married Caitlyn Jenner, then known as Bruce, Kim graduated from Marymount High School in Bel Air, California, which she attended with future socialite friend, Paris Hilton. But it would be a few years before her career started to take off.

The start of Kim Kardashian's career
At just 20 years old, the soon-to-be reality star secretly wed music producer Damon Thomas. But when Kim’s dad passed away in 2003, her marriage broke down a year later. Around this time, she also became close with former high school friend, Paris Hilton and began working as the celebutante’s assistant where she got her first taste of the limelight. In a 2019 episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim acknowledged that Hilton 'literally gave me a career'.
Kim Kardashian’s reality show debut
But it wasn’t until 2007 when the reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians first aired on E! Entertainment that Kim gained her first taste of fame. The show followed the daily exploits of the Kardashian-Jenner family including stepfather Caitlyn Jenner and younger half-sisters Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner. 2006 was also the year that Kim, Kourtney and Khloé opened their first DASH store in Calabasas.

Just before she was first thrust into the limelight on KUWTK, Kim moved out into her first home in 2005. Although we don't know what the star paid for her new Beverly Grove pad, she sold up in 2010 for $885,000 (£695k) according to the listing.

While the décor has changed since the Kardashian lived here, it's easy to see how the young starlet lived. Spread across 1,720 square feet, the condo boasts three bedrooms, and a kitchen complete with Viking appliances. The space also features a breakfast bar ideal for making those huge Chinese chicken salads that she is so fond of.

Kim Kardashian’s business career
Kim soon became a successful entrepreneur, making her fortune through modelling, clothing collections including shapewear brand SKIMS and even a very successful app game, alongside her daily role as an influencer. Kim boasts more than 360 million followers on Instagram and is still one of the world's most popular reality stars to this day.
Kim Kardashian’s Beverly Hills villa
After slowly climbing up the celebrity ranks, Kim released her own perfume in 2009 and a year later bought her first mansion. This Tuscan gated resort villa was home to the star from 2010, when she bought it for $3.4 million (£2.7m), according to the listing. The five-bedroom, five-bathroom abode sweeps across nearly 3,800 square feet and boasts its a private pool, perfect for filming KUWTK scenes.

During her three-year stint at the home, the businesswoman married former NBA basketball player Kris Humphries in August 2011. Despite featuring in a special titled Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event, Kim filed for divorce just 72 days into the marriage as reported by US Weekly. The pair lived in the house together until their divorce, which was maybe why Kim decided to sell up in 2013 for $4 million (£3.1m), making a tidy profit.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
Shortly after her divorce from Kris Humphries, Kim started dating long-time friend Kanye West. After dating for two years, the pair married in May 2014. Unsurprisingly, their wedding was a high profile celebrity-filled affair, held at Fort di Belvedere in Florence, Italy following a seven-month engagement according to ABC News.

Before the wedding in 2014, the pair announced their first pregnancy in January 2013 during Kanye’s New Year's Eve performance in Atlantic City. Before North West was born in June 2013 the parents purchased this family-sized mansion within the guard-gated community of Bel Air Crest for a cool $9 million (£7m) according to the listing.

All 9,000 square-foot of the Bel Air mansion was renovated and redesigned to the duo’s style, featuring fresh white walls, stainless steel fixtures and clean lines throughout. A glass wall in the living area boasts covetable vistas over Los Angeles from the privacy of their gated community.

With seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, there was plenty of room for a growing family and on 5 December 2015, while the couple still lived in the home, Kim gave birth to their son, Saint West. Elsewhere, the sleek minimalist kitchen boasts a long, slim centre island and stainless steel appliances.

After transforming the abode to their minimalist taste, Kim and Kanye decided to sell the property. Making a tidy profit, the Bel Air mansion sold for $17.8 million (£14m) in 2017. In the summer of 2017 it was confirmed by People that Kim and Kanye had hired a surrogate to carry their third child, so it looked like the growing family were in the market for a new home!

In 2014, Kim and Kanye purchased this expansive estate in Hidden Hills for $20 million (£15.7m), set across three acres of land, boasting beautiful vineyards, mature trees and rolling lawns. According to People, Kris Jenner claimed the home was valued at around $60 million (£47.1m) after the couple completely reimagined it.

As documented in Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim and Kanye welcomed two more babies to their family via surrogate. Their second daughter, Chicago, was born on 15 January 2018 while their second son, Psalm was born on 10 May 2019. A full house!

Inside the palatial home, huge arching hallways and streams of white space make for a somewhat spiritual building. Speaking to Architectural Digest in February 2020, Kanye described the Hidden Hills mansion as a 'futuristic Belgian monastery’. Designed by the couple alongside Belgian architect Axel Vervoodt, they spent $20 million (£15.7m) on the extensive renovations.

During the renovations the couple and their children stayed across the road at Kris' home for three years, eventually moving out in 2017. The massive house boasts two kitchens, two pantries, several freezers and a huge walk-in refrigerator. Here we can see the family in one of two kitchens that boasts a vast, round wooden table.

Kim has maintained the monastic vibe of their Hidden Hills family home since she bought out her husband, following their separation. She has continued to put her stamp on the property and posted a selection of interior shots in late 2022, including this zen image of her bed perched on a marble plinth, entitled: “Things at home that make me happy.” Om!

Another shot shows an exquisite marble stool in Kim’s minimalist bathroom, which wouldn’t look out of place in a modern-day Roman spa! Behind is a detail from her ever-changing balcony, which has featured arrangements of lavender and grasses, as seen here, as well as the row of twinkling Christmas trees she commissioned over the festive season. Kim has also been known to use product placement from her own SKKN collection.
Kim's minimalist Calabasas condo
Three years after snapping up their colossal development project, Kim purchased this 2,260-square-foot condo for $1.6 million (£1.3m) in 2017, in the exclusive neighbourhood of Calabasas. Just two years later, the star listed the property for $3.5 million (£2.7m), but no buyer came forward. Fast-forward three years and in August 2022, she put the residence on the market again, and this time it sold for the asking price according to Realtor.com.

Featuring three bedrooms and four bathrooms, the property has undergone a serious makeover since Kim first purchased it. Ex-husband Kanye commissioned Belgian brutalist architect Vincent Van Duysen to overhaul the accommodation as a birthday present for his former wife in the seemingly happier days of their marriage.

The result is a minimalist, monastery-style aesthetic, with neutral tones, exposed plaster walls, and streamlined furnishings. Natural textures extend throughout the stark living spaces, from the European oak floors to the hemp carpet and linen upholstery. Stone, ivory, and cream hues define the pared-back celebrity pad. The property is remarkably similar in style to the pair's former marital home in Hidden Hills.

Notes of glitz and glamour creep into the stylish master bathroom, with its illuminated vanity and freestanding bathtub. The apartment featured on several episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, so it's clear that Kim spent time at the condo. Kim took sole ownership of the property following her high-profile divorce settlement with Kanye, so will be pleased it sold last fall.
Kim's second Calabasas pad still for sale
The star still has another pad in Calabasas to offload however. Kim bought this top-floor, three-bedroom luxury condo off-plan before it was completed in 2016 and it has been on and off the market ever since. It was re-listed in November 2022 for the original price of $2.7 million (£2.1m), according to Realtor.com and is yet to sell.

Although clearly not in the same league as her other Vincent Van Duysen-designed apartment in the same neighbourhood, it nonetheless has luxuriously high ceilings and a chef's state-of-the-art kitchen, as well as hardwood floors throughout. Kim and her mother Kris bought several investment properties in the development which have served them well.
Kim Kardashian’s neighbouring Hidden Hills ranch
Not content with just one Hidden Hills mansion, Kim and Kanye invested in a second neighbouring property in October 2019 for just under $3 million (£2.4m). Earlier in the same year, they had also purchased a second adjoining house in an off-market deal for $2.7 million (£2.1m), securing seven-and-a-half acres of land surrounding their primary Hidden Hills mansion.

Inside, the home offers vaulted, wooden ceilings in the expansive main living room, along with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a four-car garage. Encompassing 3,874 square feet in total, the ranch was a sizeable real estate investment for the former couple, and all for the sake of protecting their privacy.

No Kardashian property would be complete without its own pool and expertly landscaped backyard. Featuring a covered patio and built-in barbecue terrace for hungry celebrity guests, it's not known if the pair ever resided at the property. In the wake of their divorce, Kim reportedly took ownership of the house, and in September 2022 she placed it on the market for $5.3 million (£4.1m), which would earn her a significant return on her initial investment.

Across the road, you'll find the home's state-of-the-art equestrian facilities, which include a four-stall horse barn, a tack room, a feed room, and a corral area. Kim's eldest daughter, North West, is especially fond of horse riding and even had a Western-style seventh birthday party back in 2020.
Kim Kardashian’s Wyoming ranch with Kanye West
However exciting their Los Angeles life was together, the peaceful rolling hills of Wyoming beckoned, and in September 2019 the family bought their own ranch. Named Monster Lake Ranch, the homestead stretches out across 4,500 acres of idyllic mountainous countryside.

Kim Kardashian’s Wyoming ranch with Kanye West
Consisting of numerous lakeside cabins and outbuildings including a restaurant, saloon, ranch-style event venue, equestrian facilities and a shooting range, the property was certainly large enough for the family of six. Originally listed for $14 million (£11m), the exact price they paid is currently unknown. This ranch became Kanye's home, while the couple hunkered down in the media storm of their divorce announcement. Nevertheless, he listed the sprawling property in October 2021 for $11 million (£8.6m) with DBW Realty, before pulling it off the market in September 2022 in the wake of Kim's split from Pete Davidson, a move that raised some eyebrows.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye's second ranch
The duo’s property portfolio had a busy year in 2019. One month after purchasing the Hidden Hills second home, Kanye followed suit of a number of celebrities fleeing to the countryside and bought a second Wyoming ranch for $14.5 million (£11.4m). Bighorn Mountain Ranch is located approximately 50 miles from their first ranch, on over 6,700 acres of land. Complete with three camps that are dotted around the estate, it has 10 cabins available to the family.

One such camp is The Lodge at Bald Ridge, hosting its own log cabin with five bedrooms, four bathrooms and three additional smaller cabins which are ideal for guests or staff. It’s easy to see what attracted the family to ranch living, with plenty of outdoor activities on tap such as skiing, hiking and fishing. The wider Kardashian family enjoyed more time out of the spotlight after December 2020, when Kim Kardashian announced the end of KUWTK, but it wasn't long before the clan was back on our screens. A new show titled The Kardashians launched on streaming service Hulu in April 2022.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye split
News of Kim and Kanye's split came in 2021 after months of rumours and seven years of marriage. We now know that Kanye claimed the ranches in the divorce settlement, while Kim bought her husband out of the Hidden Hills estate for $23 million (£18m) according to US Weekly. The pair finally agreed a settlement over custody and child maintenance in November 2022, reports The Guardian, sharing joint custody of their children. Ye will pay Kardashian $200,000 (£157,000) a month in child support and they will split the cost of their children's security, schooling, and university fees. Neither will pay the other spousal support.
Kim's Hidden Hills 'buffer' home
Kim is still winning the who-can-own-the-most-of-Hidden-Hills race though, as she bought this understated, custom-built four-bed in the same neighbourhood. It sits between Kim’s other Hidden Hills property and the house Kanye snapped up—a very expensive 'buffer' between her and her ex, at $6.3 million (£5m). It was such an attractive buy, the reality star allegedly paid $800,000 (£628k) over the asking price, as reported by New York Post.
Kim's Hidden Hills 'buffer' home
Quite the time-warp, this is the first time this home has been on the market since it was built in 1975 and Kim can either embrace the formal style of the place or remodel it into a more modern home, in her signature understated style. The large dining room certainly has plenty of space for hosting the whole Kardashian-Jenner clan and looks out onto the greenery of the yard outside.
Kim's Hidden Hills 'buffer' home
The dining room leads to a family room with a fireplace and wet bar, and there's also an ensuite bedroom downstairs. A deep green-carpeted spiral staircase adorned with gold-coloured railings leads to the second-floor bedrooms. Yet, as the New York Post suggested, Kim likely purchased the property reportedly as a teardown—much like Kanye did.
Kim's Hidden Hills 'buffer' home
Before relations became strained between them, having a house between the couple’s respective homes would have fitted in nicely with Kim and Kanye’s plan to co-parent their four children, where the kids would have enjoyed plenty of play space. The pad stretches across 4,200 square feet of living space and sits on more than an acre of land, providing plenty of scope for Kim to expand her estate.
Kim's Hidden Hills 'buffer' home
However, ever the property flipper, according to Hello, Kim put the Hidden Hills fixer-upper back on the market in November 2022—less than six months after buying it. Priced at a nifty $7 million (£5.5m), she is hoping to make a profitable $700k (£550k) on her investment made just six months ago.
Kim's Malibu beach house
Perhaps the reason Kim decided to sell up her Hidden Hills buffer home so quickly was to snap up this beautiful seaside estate. Built in 1944, the Malibu beach house previously belonged to supermodel Cindy Crawford. According to Dirt, Crawford purchased the property for over $50 million (£39.2m) from biotech engineer, Walter de Logi’s wife after he died in 2014. Hidden from sight behind a huge gate and at the end of a long stretch of driveway, how much did our favourite aspiring lawyer and model pay for the pad?
Kim's Malibu beach house
Undergoing extensive renovations in the 1990s and more recently in 2016, Kim’s new four-bedroom Mediterranean-style villa was once a six-acre estate—before being split into two lots. Seen here via images from an old listing, Cindy Crawford sold the smaller of the two parcels to a retired hedge fund manager, Adam Weiss. After listing it in March 2022 at a little under $100 million (£78.6m), Weiss sold up to the Skims founder in September in an off-market deal for a much lower $70.4 million (£55.3m). The savvy entrepreneur strikes again!
Kim's Malibu beach house
Alongside a light and spacious gym, the 7,500-square-foot house hosts numerous roomy living areas illuminated via walls of glass throughout offering glittering views across Malibu beaches. Cindy Crawford still lives in her next-door parcel, where Kim will also be neighbours with Leo DiCaprio and Neil Diamond no less. The Malibu estate is reportedly the fourth priciest California home sale of 2022, lagging slightly behind Bel Air’s jaw-dropping The One mega-mansion, which sold at auction for a whopping $126 million (£99m).
Kim's Malibu beach house
Outside, Kim and her brood can enjoy a full-size tennis court framed by mature trees, a wraparound deck for alfresco dining and a pool area with cabana and fireplace. What’s more, a winding pathway leads down to a secluded beach—perfect for one of the world’s most famous women to fully relax by the sea.

Billion dollar family dynasty
Elsewhere, a recent Channel Four documentary, The Kardashians: Billion Dollar Dynasty, charts Kim's meteoric rise, who was catapulted to fame by an infamous tape and ended up on the Forbes billionaire list. The two-part show offers a new perspective on the famous clan, revealing the deals and stunts that helped them build a brand that has earned them a fortune.

Feeling flush
Amongst the fascinating things we discover in the documentary is that Kim was the face of a leading toilet paper brand back in 2010 when she pitched up for the opening of their luxury public restrooms in Times Square in New York. She was well paid of course, and was left feeling pretty flush by the experience, but these days she’s more likely to collaborate with the likes of Balmain and Balenciaga.

Flour power
The show revisits the events that have raised her profile on her road to fame, reports The Guardian, from her marriage to basketball pro Kris Humphries, often reported to be a publicity stunt, to the incident in 2012, when Kim was flour bombed by a mystery assailant at the launch of her new perfume, which is revealed to have been a set-up job by her team. All of which had the desired effect!

Spat with Kourtney
More recently, in season three of The Kardashians, Kim blasted sister Kourtney a "hater" for not supporting her in her collaboration with Dolce & Gabanna. Kourtney had accused Kim of copying her by partnering with the fashion duo just months after her May 2022 wedding, which the pair had designed all of the bridal party's outfits and even hosted. Kourtney said that the move to make money off the back of something so personal was "who she [Kim] is to her core". Ouch!
Kardashian mini-me
Kim Kardashian’s eldest child North seems to be taking to PR and social media with the same aplomb as her mother, to judge by her posts on TikTok where the nine-year-old gives fans a tour of her play village in the grounds of the family’s Hidden Hills mansion. The eldest child of Kim and Ye is seen in this post taking a turn as a barista at a mini Starbucks, while wearing a blonde wig.
Play village
Kim created the child-friendly town “Lil Hidden Hills” in March 2021, according to The Sun, and has added cool features including this 50s-style diner, with its red banquette seats and black and white tiled floor. North seemed to be in the dog house however, in season three of The Kardashians, when the family were toasting Kim's collaboration with Dolce & Gabanna. Kim appeared to be giving her daughter the stern eye when she was caught trying to take a sip of champagne from aunty Khloé.
Kim's Tadao Ando mansion in Palm Springs
Kim's latest home build project is much bigger and more expensive than a play town. Kim has commissioned Japanese architect Tadao Ando to design a vacation home on a piece of land in Palm Springs. She originally bought the undeveloped site in California's Madison Club in La Quinta for $6.3 million (£5m) in 2019 with then-husband Kanye. The land was awarded to Kim in her divorce settlement but it is facing a major obstacle after her building permit expired in June 2023, reports The Sun.

Sharing Ando's vision in recent Instagram posts, Kim reveals a 'spaceship'-style building with a central circular courtyard right in the centre of the futuristic home. The imposing structure, which will be built in Ando’s signature streamlined concrete, will reportedly feature multiple bedrooms and bathrooms and an outdoor elevator.

The star visited the Pritzker prize-winning architect in Japan in April 2023 and has said that she is “so deeply honoured... to have the opportunity to work with him and finally see this special project come to life." It was her ex-husband Kanye West who introduced Kim to the work of Ando, when they visited Japan in 2018, according to El Pais, and the proposed house has been dubbed the 'revenge mansion'.

Sharing a picture of Ando working on drawings for her new home, Kim wrote: “I visited his office in Japan so that we could make the finishing touches before we break ground.” Clearly excited by the project, the home is bound to boast spectacular views as the land it sits on grants views of the three surrounding mountain ranges: San Jacinto, Santa Rosa and the San Bernadino mountains.

What's next for Kim Kardashian?
Let’s just hope the building work is back on course soon. The mum of four is said to still spend much of her time in her main expansive Hidden Hills estate with the kids and ‘momager’ Kris Jenner close by. With her divorce from Ye now finalised and their assets divided, Kim is free to pursue her passion for buying and selling property. And building too it would appear. We can't wait to see what she does next…
