With her Summer Carnival 2023 tour now in full force, P!nk fever is off the chart. One of the world’s most successful artists, the pop-punk singer has sold some 60 million albums, 75 million singles and has accumulated a small fortune, which has allowed the mother of two to pick up a property or two along the way. But where is the 'Family Portrait' singer looking to emigrate now? Let’s have a closer look….
Seen here enjoying the Sydney sun ‘down under’ back in 2009 with husband Carey, it seems the 'Cover Me In Sunshine' singer has long been a fan of Australia. She's also incredibly popular there as an artist and her Australian leg of The Truth About Love tour was the biggest-selling tour for a female artist in the country’s history in 2013. A semi-permanent move to Australia has been suggested while she performs for her adoring fans there in 2024 as part of her ongoing Summer Carnival tour. But is it really just a temporary relocation?
P!nk has reportedly been dreaming of moving to Australia for a while now, letting slip that she was "looking into" possible citizenship earlier in the year. As reported by The Daily Mail, the 'Trustfall' singer spoke about making the leap down under on an episode of Australian 60 Minutes in February, disclosing: "Last year I was thinking about applying for citizenship, I am not even joking."
According to US Weekly: “Pink is seriously considering moving her family to Australia." A source close to the singer revealed Australia is her "favorite place in the world", explaining: “It’s a country where she feels very comfortable and loves that it’s so peaceful." Much like their vineyard home, the source says Pink and Carey "would love to live in the countryside away from the city so that their kids can still have plenty of space to ride their dirt bikes and play". The country is clearly close to her heart, back in January P!nk donated $500,000 (£389k) to the wildfire relief fund stating: "Australia is my second home, so that was a no brainer. I’m a Californian and fires are terrifying, and you got to do the right thing." But where did it all begin for the star?
Born Alecia Beth Moore, P!nk has come a long way since her first single 'There You Go' was released in 2000. From humble beginnings in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, the ‘What About Us’ singer – now worth $200 million (£152m) – splashed out on lavish homes in LA and Malibu on her way to the top, but spends most of her time these days at the sprawling estate and vineyard in Santa Barbara she shares with her family.
Born in 1979, P!nk had a stormy childhood. Her parents – James, an insurance salesman and Vietnam veteran, and Judy, an emergency room nurse – divorced before she was ten. P!nk initially lived with her mother, but maintained a close relationship with her father, who she described as her “favourite person in the world”. She posted this photo on Instagram in August 2021, following his death from prostate cancer.
The star admitted she had a tumultuous relationship with her mother Judy, who worked full-time as an ER nurse, studying in the evenings. “We raised ourselves mostly,” she said in an interview on Australian TV show The Project. After a rebellious stage as a teenager, when she dabbled in drugs and ran away from home, she reconciled with her mother. P!nk commented on Instagram: “She is relentless with her love".
Although her first ambition was to become a gymnast – a passion that she displayed later on in her acrobatic arena shows – P!nk was writing her own songs and singing during her time at Lenape Middle School and Central Bucks High School West, where she joined her first band. The teenage rebel started dyeing her hair, getting tattoos and piercings, skipping school, and eventually dropped out so she could sing in clubs in Philadelphia.
After stints in a punk band and in R&B girl trio Choice, when she adopted her colourful nickname – she had pink hair at the time – she signed a solo contract with LaFace Records in 1999. Hungry for her chance to pursue her dream, she moved to Atlanta at 16 years old. She reflected on her Instagram: "When I got grown, I moved as far away from my family as I could while still being in the same country. And now, I wish I lived next door." It didn't take long to for things to start heating up; her début single ‘There You Go’ hit the top ten in 2000 and she won Female New Artist of the Year at the Billboard Music Awards later that year. She was on her way!
P!nk had already hit it big by the time she bought her first LA mansion in Sherman Oaks in 2002 for $2 million (£1.5m). At just 23 years old, her second album M!ssundaztood featured some of her best-known hits, including ‘Get the Party Started’, and sold more than eight million copies worldwide. In 2001, she collaborated with Lil’ Kim, Christina Aguilera and Mya for a cover of ‘Lady Marmalade’ for the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.
The 4,435-square-foot, Spanish-style villa has four bedrooms and five bathrooms and sits on 30,000 square feet of land, featuring lawns, mature trees, an infinity pool and an outdoor pavilion perfect for alfresco get-togethers. The gated property proved an ideal retreat from the pressures of fame. A year after the purchase, P!nk's third album, Try This, was nominated for two Grammys at the 2003 iteration of the awards.
Built in 1946, the house is full of character with its hand-hewn double-entry doors, two-storey entrance hall and terrazzo tiled flooring. Records show she bought the property in 2002 with her father James. Later, having not lived in it for a while, she put it on the market in 2011 for $4 million (£3m), before selling it in 2014 for $3.5 million (£2.7m).
Classic in design, the gourmet kitchen offers a state-of-the-art culinary set-up with top-of-the-range accessories and appliances. P!nk revealed herself to be something of a keen chef on her Instagram when she posted a video of herself making ravioli from scratch in her kitchen in Santa Barbara. We wonder if she was quite so adventurous a cook when she lived here?
In keeping with her newfound fame, she would have appreciated the property’s dressing room, complete with sleek fitted cupboards and drawers. The star is well known for her individual style, from her wild, pink-haired punk vibe in her early days to the sophisticated blonde megastar look we see today. There’s room for it all in this walk-in wardrobe!
No celebrity mansion would be complete without its own hot tub, but this grotto-like spa, tucked behind a waterfall and alongside the swimming pool, is in a league of its own. Its whimsical style makes it a stand-out feature in the stunning property and clearly caught the imagination of the three-time Grammy-winning singer.
P!nk met her husband, motocross racer Carey Hart, at the Summer X Games in Philadelphia in 2001. They split for a brief period in 2003, but she proposed to him at one of his races in 2005, holding a sign reading “Will you marry me?” according to Brides. The couple married the following year in a laid-back beach ceremony in Costa Rica but split again in 2008. In the interim, she recorded her Funhouse album, before the couple reconciled in February 2010.
With their first child on the way, P!nk and her husband bought this tropical paradise home in Malibu in December 2010 just ahead of the birth of Willow Sage Hart in June 2011. The couple, who had previously been renting, shelled out nearly $12 million (£9.2m) for the 6,800 square-foot property, which has five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
The home boasts a luxury 25-yard lap pool, along with a five-car garage and a two-storey guesthouse, which must have come in handy when the grandparents came to stay to help out with the new baby. The Balinese-style pool cabana and lush tropical landscaping – including a forest-like canopy of trees and a vegetable garden – provide a sense of privacy and serenity.
Located in the Point Dume gated community estate in Malibu, the house is set on 1.2 acres of land and was built in 2005 by a local lawyer, who sold the property to the singer. The living room, with its full-length sliding glass doors and views through the trees to the ocean beyond, features a stone-walled fireplace and vaulted ceilings. It looks like an incredibly peaceful space.
Inspired by Bali in both décor and design, the upstairs floor features a terracotta seated Buddha and a bespoke amber glass chandelier, both contributing to the overall atmosphere of peace and tranquility. While the property is not oceanfront, residents have direct access to Little Dume Beach, a small cove that is Malibu’s closest thing to a private beach.
You would be forgiven for imagining you have woken up in the middle of the jungle looking at this leafy view through the window of the master bedroom. Intricately carved teak furniture and Indonesian-style ceiling fans emphasise the island style, while the adjoining bathroom (not visible) continues the Balinese theme, with a freestanding wooden bath and large windows.
After enjoying the house – and this shady terrace – for three years, the ‘Just Give Me a Reason’ singer sold the house for $12.5 million (£9.5m) to French investment banker Matthieu Pigasse in 2016. The property was most recently snapped up by Google co-founder Sergey Brin for $13.5 million (£10.3m) in June 2022, according to Dirt. He joins other tech heavyweights in the area including WhatsApp co-founder Jan Koum and Steve Jobs’ widow, Laurene Powell Jobs.
Home is where the heart is when it comes to P!nk’s stunning ranch and vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley in Santa Barbara, which she bought for $12 million (£9.2m) in 2013. The singer regularly shares snapshots of her happy family life at the Californian estate, including this one, which includes the couple’s son Jameson, who was born on Boxing Day 2016.
The relatively modest house that came with the estate is a world away from the family’s opulent mansion in Malibu. “It looks like Dr. Seuss threw up,” the singer told The Independent, referencing the vibrantly painted walls and furniture of the house, where the singer and her family have given free rein to their creativity.
The 2,500-square-foot house includes several living spaces and this brightly painted homely kitchen, which often features on the singer’s Instagram. She posted images of herself and her daughter Willow getting down to some serious baking during the Covid lockdown. In this post, Willow is making Brazilian Cheese Bread in fake glasses. “She’s basically me but cooler,” P!nk wrote.
The entire house is a playground for the couple’s two children, with walls painted pink and curtains of every hue – some even handmade from vibrant sari material. Three-year-old Jameson has his own toddler-sized piano for jamming sessions with his mum and is practising his yoga positions in this adorable Instagram post.
P!nk bought the existing estate near the western edge of the Happy Canyon wine region in 2013 – the same year she released her hit album The Truth About Love and was voted Woman of the Year by Billboard – and set about enhancing the property, planting seven more acres of vines and purchasing an adjacent estate. “We’ve put a lot of heart and soul into this place,” she told The Santa Barbara Independent.
It was the expanse and beauty of its 200 acres of land – including 18 acres of vineyard – that sealed the deal for the family, however. P!nk had long since harboured a dream to create her own wine, and the couple wanted a quieter way of life away from the spotlight, where their children could grow up and make memories immersed in the countryside.
By the time her second child Jameson was born on Boxing Day 2016, P!nk was well on her way to releasing her first wines from her Two Wolves estate. And when she’s not getting her hands dirty out in the fields, she is making the most of the other amenities on site, including a 12-stall barn for the horses, a private lake, swimming pool and Jacuzzi. She also relishes in time spent with her family when she can.
P!nk gave fans insight into her family’s homely ritual while on her Beautiful Trauma World Tour in 2019, posting a photo explaining that “at least twice a week on tour, we shut the door to the outside world and have family dinner” adding sarcastically, “as you can see it makes Jameson feel deep, deep joy.” The cosy routine received backlash, with people pointing out it was no longer private as she had posted the photo online and raising the question of whether children should be shown on social media. Not one to back down, P!nk retaliated in the comments, reminding people to not engage with 'trolls'.
The singer is clearly eager to divest herself of the usual celebrity trappings since she embraced her new life on the land. The star snapped up this stunning villa in Malibu in June 2021, only to sell it just three months later. P!nk paid $13.7 million (£10.4m) for the 4,320-square-foot home, but listed it for just under $15 million (£11.4m), earning herself a healthy profit.
P!nk isn't the only celebrity to have owned the five-bedroom, four-bathroom property, either. Barry Manilow is also said to have lived here before selling up in 2012. The beachfront home was actually built in 1976, but thanks to a total renovation it's now a chic and sophisticated pad fit for a VIP.
Despite the quick turnaround, P!nk gained plenty of bang for her buck, since the lavish celebrity home comes complete with spacious living areas kitted out with floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a guesthouse, a Jacuzzi, a formal dining room, a contemporary kitchen with bruised gold fixtures and a wraparound balcony with ocean views.
Every room benefits from incredible panoramic views, including the master bathroom, which boasts a window-side tub. It’s in stark contrast to her earthy life down in Santa Barbara, however, which certainly seems to agree with the star. Since her move there, she has released a duet with her daughter Willow, called 'Cover Me in Sunshine', and released a documentary, P!nk: All I Know So Far, in early 2021.
P!nk shows no sign of slowing down since she became a mother and wine producer. She became the youngest recipient to date of the Icon Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards after receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019. Bringing her husband and family with her to receive the accolade, the starry-eyed unit are seen here enjoying the limelight and showcasing their incredible bond.
With her tour well underway, P!nk has been keeping the family close. They're with her as she heads across America and daughter Willow has even joined her on stage. So, it makes perfect sense that the whole band will move with her to Australia... we can't wait to see the home (or homes) they share.
