Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth
Miley Cyrus and Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth ended months of speculation when they married at the singer’s Nashville home over 2018 Christmas holidays. After meeting on the set of teen romance The Last Song, the couple first announced their engagement in 2012, but broke up a year later. They rekindled their romance in 2016, with Miley jetting to Australia to spend New Year with Liam’s family, including his brother Chris Hemsworth.

Keen to keep their nuptials low-key, the lovebirds invited family and close friends to the bash, which took place at Miley’s spacious ranch in Franklin, Tennessee. The Hannah Montana star bought the farmhouse-style property in 2017 for $5.8 million (£4.7m). Built in 2014, it’s the ultimate celebrity hideaway. Extremely secluded and surrounded by dense forest, it sits on a staggering 33 acres of land and is protected by a secure gate, which leads to a long sweeping driveway.

The interior is no less impressive, with the main living space boasting double-height vaulted ceilings and exposed timber beams. A floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace adds star quality to the expansive space, and there’s a swimming pool and three-car garage outside. Despite being the backdrop to her big day, the star sold the estate in August 2022 in a deal worth for $14.5 million (£11.7m). Not a bad profit for the 'Wrecking Ball' singer.

It wasn’t until nearly two months after their wedding, on Valentine’s Day 2019, that the star put everyone out of their misery and finally shared a few images and a clip of their big day, showing the newly-weds embracing in front of a festively decorated stone fireplace. The bride looked stunning in a Vivienne Westwood gown, holding an exquisite floral bouquet.

Seen here with her mother Tish and country singer father, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley insists she wanted a very relaxed wedding and initially wasn’t even planning to wear a wedding dress. “I was trying to wear leggings and a hoodie,” she told E! News. Miley had also chosen to take her husband’s name, making her Miley Hemsworth, although obviously not for professional purposes. Sadly, however, by August 2019 the couple had announced their separation, with their divorce finalised on January 28, 2020.

Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth
Legally Blonde star Reese Witherspoon and talent agent Jim Toth married in a low-key ceremony at the actress’ picture-perfect Californian Ojai ranch in March 2011. Toth, an agent with CAA (of whom Witherspoon is a client), started seeing the actor shortly after her split from Jake Gyllenhaal in 2009. She was previously married to Ryan Philippe, with whom she has two children, Ava and Deacon. She shares a son, Tennessee James, with Toth.

The Walk the Line actress bought the rustic retreat for $5.8 million (£4.9m) in 2008, eventually selling at a loss in 2013 for $5 million (£4.3m). Originally built in 1923 as stables for Edward Drummond Libbey, who made his fortune in glassware, the hacienda is one of the earliest works by architect Wallace Neff, best known for designing Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks’s mansion Pickfair.

Retaining its century-old fixtures, hardware and original stonework, including the stunning Talavera tiled staircase leading to the mezzanine in the living room, seen here, Witherspoon called on friend and designer Kristen Buckingham to give the four-bedroom traditional Spanish property a modern edge. “As soon as I drive through the gate, I relax,” the actor told Elle Décor.

Wearing a blush-hued Monique Lhuillier dress and with her children Ava and Deacon acting as maid-of-honour and ringbearer, Witherspoon and Toth exchanged their vows in front of 120 guests, including Matthew McConaughey, Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson, at the seven-acre ranch. Following the short ceremony, guests attended a country-chic celebration, created by celebrity event planner Yifat Oren.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck
J.Lo and Ben Affleck tied the knot in the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas in July 2022, 20 years after they became engaged the first time around. In the interim, the Good Will Hunting actor, who had previously dated Gwyneth Paltrow, had married actress Jennifer Garner, with whom he has three children. Meanwhile J.Lo had married three times, to waiter Ojani Noa, dancer Cris Judd and Latin superstar Marc Anthony, father of her twins.

After a romantic honeymoon in Paris, the newlyweds hosted a second, more formal wedding celebration for friends and family at Affleck’s spectacular estate on Georgia's Hampton Island. Considered one of the jewels along the coast of Georgia, the plantation-style home sits on 87 acres of land overlooking the North Newport River. It would be hard to imagine a more magnificent setting for the three-day extravaganza.

With its four-metre high ceilings and elegant original features, the historic home played host to a plethora of A-list guests, including Matt Damon, George Clooney and Jane Fonda. The “Big House”, as it is known, comprises a total of 6,000 square feet with a veranda overlooking the river, while there’s ample room for guests at the neighbouring “Summer Cottage” and “Oyster House”, which has an outdoor pool and can sleep more than 20.

Jennifer revealed on her Instagram that the home had been transformed for the wedding by her close friend, designer Rachel Ashwell, who did the original interiors at the property 20 years earlier, when Jennifer and Ben were first dating. The cosy lounge features white fabric sofas and a soft pink rug and was decked out with blush pink blooms, touches that are in keeping with Rachel's signature shabby chic style.

We can just imagine J.Lo on the morning of her big day, enjoying her breakfast in this pretty dining room with its painted floorboards, fabric-covered chairs and French antique chandelier. Affleck had planned to put the estate up for sale for $8.9 million (£7.2m) in the months preceding the marriage, but ultimately decided it would be the ideal spot for the lavish festivities.

Dressed all in white, the guests watched the couple as they made their way along a white walkway from the main house down to the river, where, according to reports, a big marquee had been erected. J.Lo released this intimate shot of her and Affleck, commenting, “Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient.”
Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma
Actor/singer Hilary Duff and musician Matthew Koma married in the garden of their family home in December 2019. The couple met in 2015, when Hilary was working on her album Breathe in. Breathe Out, but didn’t go public until 2017 at a red-carpet event. A year later they welcomed their first child, Banks, a sister to Hilary’s son Luca from her first marriage to National Hockey League player Mike Comrie.

The How I Met Your Father star and her husband-to-be didn’t have to look far to find the ideal venue for their winter wedding. Duff bought this 5,260-square-foot Georgian-style Beverley Hills house in 2010 for $3.85 million (£3.24m) when she was expecting her first child. With more than a third of an acre of landscaped gardens and total privacy, it was the obvious backdrop for the wedding of their dreams.

The interiors have changed quite a bit since Duff bought the property more than two decades ago. The Lizzie McGuire star has remodelled the property twice, exchanging the more classic décor seen here in the original living room for a more funky, modern vibe. Recently, she teamed up with designers Shannon Wollack and Brittany Zwickl at Studio Life/Style to create a vibrant family home she says she can finally call her own.

Hilary enlisted Oren Co—who count Drew Barrymore, Natalie Portman and Reese Witherspoon as former clients—to create the stunning ceremony at the couple's home in 2019, with the reception held in a marquee filled with flowers in their incredible backyard. "Our wedding isn't over-the-top 'wedding-y' – it's more understated and for me, that's more powerful," Hilary told Vogue at the time.

The stunning bride wore a gown by Jenny Packham, known for dressing the Princess of Wales, before changing into a jazzy gold two-piece outfit for the party. The happy couple, seen here next to an old school Wagoneer with wood panelling, then followed-up their exquisite ceremony with a honeymoon in South Africa, seeing in the New Year in style.

Julia Roberts and Danny Moder
Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts married cameraman Danny Moder in a secret ceremony at her ranch in New Mexico in July 2002, after they met on the set of The Mexican in 2000. Two decades and three children later, they are one of the most successful couples in Hollywood. The actress was previously engaged to Kiefer Sutherland, and married country singer Lyle Lovett in 1993, three weeks after they met. They split two years later.

The wedding was a big surprise for their 60 guests, who thought they were coming for a 4th of July party at the sprawling ranch, located near the community of Arroyo Seco. According to reports, the Erin Brockovich star bought the 32-acre property from former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in the nineties and it was said to be worth about $2.5 million in 2008.

The ranch, which has been her second home ever since, and features several guesthouses like this one, is clearly her favourite place in the world. “It's peaceful, and it's a relief. I always say you can't be in a bad mood here. I don't know if it's New Mexico or just the mountains, but you can't be silly in a negative way,” she told Oprah in 2003. The couple also have homes in Malibu and New York City.

The fiercely private actress kept photographers away from her midnight ceremony. But judging how gorgeous she looked in the 1999 movie Runaway Bride, seen here with Richard Gere and director Garry Marshall, she must have looked stunning in the pale pink cotton halter dress she was reported to have worn on the day. Celebrations were held in a white marquee and according to the BBC, guests were rumoured to have included Brad Pitt and George Clooney.

Mandy Moore and Taylor Goldsmith
This is Us star Mandy Moore married musician Taylor Goldsmith in their backyard in November 2018. The thoroughly modern couple met via Instagram in May 2015, when Mandy expressed her love for Goldsmith’s band, Dawes, while finalising her acrimonious divorce from singer/songwriter Ryan Adams. It was a while before they got together properly, but now they have two small children, Gus, born in February 2021, and Oscar, born in October 2022.

It’s no wonder that the couple decided to celebrate their wedding at the Pasadena home they bought in 2017 for a reported $2.56 million (£2.1m). It’s been a labour of love renovating the classic 1950s abode for the actress and singer, who fell in love with the grounds, the pool and the stunning views of the San Gabriel mountains and valley.

The terrazzo floors, blush curtains and generous furniture layout in the living room set the tone for the whole mid-century-modern vibe of the house. Admitting to Architectural Digest that she became addicted to the design process during the renovation, Moore declared: “This house signifies the next chapter of my life, as an adult, a woman, and a performer. I was able to pour all of who I am into making this place.”

Their wedding ceremony may have been low-key, but it was not lacking in style. Breaking with tradition, the bride wore a pink ruffled Rodarte gown, exchanging her vows with Taylor at sunset beneath an epic floral arch of gypsophila (also known as baby’s breath). We love the addition of antique rugs on the floor along the aisle. Very boho!
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi
With their property and design credentials, why wouldn't Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi marry at home? The couple tied the knot at their house in Beverly Hills, California in 2008 after getting together in 2004. It wasn’t until 2005, however, that Ally McBeal actor de Rossi finally felt able to speak openly about coming out, previously afraid that her sexuality would jeopardise her career.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi
Although they invited only 19 guests to their 2008 wedding, they had room for many more. DeGeneres shelled out nearly $29 million (£23.4m) for the ultra-private, 9,200-square-foot property in 2007 and went on to buy up the surrounding properties at a cost of around $50 million (£40.3m). Despite happy memories there, they sold it to the man behind Keeping up with the Kardashians, Ryan Seacrest, for $37 million (£29.9m) in 2012.

With its reclaimed wood floors and ceiling beams, seen here in the living room, the chat show host instantly fell in love with the house, so much so in fact that she bought it furnished. She still managed to inject the property with her own personality, however, by sourcing a treasure trove of eclectic pieces, including a Spanish colonial bench and her collection of African masks, which have been dotted throughout the house.

Surrounded by lavishly landscaped grounds, the property has a pond, infinity pool, spa and a state-of-the-art security system, the couple couldn’t have hoped for a more idyllic or private setting for their special day. “It’s where our hearts are,” De Rossi told People. The pair wore custom-made Zac Posen outfits and exchanged their vows during an intimate candlelit ceremony, followed by a sit-down dinner at a long table festooned with flowers.

The Emmy-winning star told Hello! she couldn't think of a better place to tie the knot than her luxurious home in Los Angeles. And no wonder. The spacious Bel Air mansion has nine bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, gardens, infinity pool and magnificent mountain views. Kathy bought the property in 2016 and sold it in late 2020 for $14 million (£11.3m), earning herself a $3.5 million (£2.8m) profit.

Kathy announced she and Randy planned to wed at home just after midnight on Twitter, surprising fans that the officiant at the intimate ceremony was none other than comedian Lily Tomlin. "What was supposed to be a shallow, tooted-and-booted one-night-stand, has grown and flourished to something far more meaningful,” said Tomlin. Kathy’s wedding gown was the same dress she wore on the couple’s first date in 2011. So romantic!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie held their intimate wedding ceremony on their French estate Château Miraval in August 2014. The couple had fallen in love on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith in 2004, when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Angelina Jolie had been married twice before, to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. Although Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016, the château remains at the heart of a bitter dispute between the two.

Nestled within 1,000 acres of vineyards and olive trees near Aix-en-Provence in the South of France, Château Miraval has a moat and several structures from the 17th century, including the Romanesque chapel where the couple were married. The pair first leased the property in 2008 for three years, before officially taking possession in 2012 with a purchase price of $60 million (£48.4m).

It is also home to a recording studio, used by the likes of Pink Floyd, Sting and Shirley Bassey.

The couple’s six children were said to have been central to the ultra-private ceremony, which was attended by just 20 friends and family. According to reports, the bride wore a Versace dress which had been embroidered with artwork by the couple’s children, while her eldest sons, Maddox and Pax, walked her down the aisle. “It was such a special day to share with our children and a very happy time for our family,” the couple said.

Guests at the event, who reportedly included Friends co-stars Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow, along with Ellen DeGeneres and Orlando Bloom, had been told they would be attending a birthday party for Justin, before being surprised by the intimate ceremony. There were no images of the bride’s dress, although it was rumoured to be a form-fitting sheath gown, similar to this one by Mark Zunino from famed New York store Kleinfeld Bridal.

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez
Ariana Grande made it official with real estate agent Dalton Gomez when the pair appeared in the music video for her and Justin Bieber’s song ‘Stuck With U’ in May 2020. According to People, the couple had started dating in the January but kept it quiet following the singer’s whirlwind romance with comedian Pete Davidson. The couple got to know each other during the pandemic and Gomez proposed in December 2020.

It’s hard to imagine a more magical setting than this Tudor-style house, nestled in a wood in Montecito, which Grande bought for $6.8 million (£5.5m) in May 2020. The singer purchased the home, known as Porter House, from TV chat show host and architecture buff Ellen DeGeneres around the same time she was getting to know Gomez. Not a bad place to isolate with the one you love.

Starting life as two 300-year-old English barns, the original structures were dismantled and shipped to California to be rebuilt into the 5,500 square-foot mansion we see today. You can thank Ellen DeGeneres for the interiors, however. The star worked her magic with a palette of milky white, deep grey and other earthy tones before Grande cleaned up in September 2022 by selling the property for a very healthy $9.1 million (£7.4m).

With fewer than 20 guests in attendance, the couple tied the knot on 15 May 2021 in the main hall of the historic home, which had been filled with candles and white flowers.
