Incredible 'Peter Pan' homes of the billionaires who never grew-up
The big kid homes of the world's billionaires
Their properties are some of the most valuable on the planet, and these fun-loving billionaires – who have made their fortunes through technology, minerals, energy and more – are used to having every whim catered for. With railway tracks, trampolines and unbelievable tech, these homes have features that only an unthinkable amount of money can buy. The most recent house to catch our eye is the Disney mansion owned by the Bacardi heiress, which somehow manages to be both sophisticated and any kid's dream come true. Facundo Bacardí Massó
Hilda Maria Bacardi – the great-great-granddaughter of Facundo Bacardí Massó, who founded the Bacardi liquor company in 1862 – certainly has no qualms about splashing out her millions. The heiress recently made headlines for listing a Mediterranean-inspired mansion located on the grounds of Orlando’s Disney World property, in a private community known as Golden Oaks. While its exterior may appear elegantly unremarkable, this magnificent mansion is full of surprises.
Bacardi heiress's Disney dream house
Ms. Bacardi first purchased the sprawling 9,254-square-foot home back in 2018 for just under $7 million (£5.6m). Now, just five years later, she’s already looking to part with the property for a whopping $19 million (£15.3m). To help justify the price, it should be acknowledged that the purchase comes with plenty of perks – country club access, early Disney movie screenings, all the amenities of the Four Seasons hotel chain with which it’s affiliated, and a few bonus features…
Bacardi heiress's Disney dream house
The Bacardi heiress’s home is a ‘Peter Pan’ property in the truest sense. While much of the glamorous seven-bed, ten-bath house is elegant and opulently appointed, a few special rooms are a Disney dream come true. For example, this home movie theatre lets residents step through a set of spaceship doors and right into the Millennium Falcon, enjoying a home movie experience in the company of a frozen Han Solo and a terrifyingly life-sized Darth Vader.
Bacardi heiress's Disney dream house
Meanwhile, kids old and young will enjoy the special themed bedrooms upstairs. This Frozen-inspired bedroom features a canopied bed fit for an ice queen, wall-to-wall murals depicting a snowy forest landscape, an elaborate frosted fir window treatment, and a complete cast of the film’s beloved characters. The frosty theme even flows into the adjoining ensuite!
Bacardi heiress's Disney dream house
Prepare to dive under the sea with this next bedroom. The elaborately decorated space looks more like a Disney ride than a place to lay your head, but we’re not complaining. Custom murals and sculpture work create the under-sea environment of Nemo and his friends in this Finding Nemo-inspired space, while a loft area creates the illusion of a dock perched above the waves. Just watch out for the enormous head of Bruce the shark poking through the wall!

Jordana Reuben Yechiel
While her name may not initially ring any bells of recognition, Jordana Reuben Yechiel is an important member of the second-wealthiest family in the UK. With a combined net worth of $6.7 billion (£5.4bn), according to Forbes, her father and uncle are partners in real estate development and investment, with business interests around the globe.
Jordana Reuben Yechiel's Beverly Hills mega-mansion
Jordana herself has a bit of a reputation for being a discount-hunting billionaire shopper, and managed to snag this Beverly Hills home for $29.4 million (£23.6) – less than half of the initial asking price of $58.9 million (£47.3m). That being said, Yechiel’s final bid was still one of the largest sums ever paid for a house in the so-called Beverly Hills Flats neighbourhood pocket, and it’s not hard to see why.
Jordana Reuben Yechiel's Beverly Hills mega-mansion
The double-wide lot boasts a ‘European-inspired’ mansion spanning a jaw-dropping 26,800 square feet, every inch of which is packed with marble staircases, distressed oak Versailles parquet floors, opulent furnishings, and 11 antique marble fireplaces imported from France, Italy and England. With eight bedrooms and 15 bathrooms, the home certainly offers plenty of room for hosting.
Jordana Reuben Yechiel's Beverly Hills mega-mansion
With plenty of homages to old-world glamour, the mansion’s interiors boast a collection of intricate stonework, antique French crystal chandeliers, leaded-glass windows and skylights, bay windows, carved wood panelling, and custom millwork. In addition to the standard amenities, the house also offers an enormous movie theatre, a double-height library, billiards room, and a very special bonus feature out back…
Jordana Reuben Yechiel's Beverly Hills mega-mansion
Forget the glittering pool, rolling lawns, 16-car garage, tennis courts, and two guest houses – we’re obsessed with the fact that the property’s grounds also include, for unexplained reasons, a model train set which gently meanders its way around the estate. The custom, one-of-a-kind model train brings a real sense of whimsy to what is otherwise an overwhelmingly grandiose property parcel.

Mukesh Ambani
Mukesh Ambani is the managing director of Reliance Industries Limited, India’s most valuable company by its market value. Said to be worth around $85 billion (£68bn) by Forbes, the richest man in India also owns the world’s second-most expensive residential property. The home, known as Antilia, is second only to Buckingham Palace for real estate value and is reputed to have cost between $1 billion (£802.7m) and $2 billion (£1.6bn).

The colossal 27-storey mansion has long been shrouded in controversy since it lies not too far from the city's largest slum. While the exterior features endless sheets of glass, the interior is draped in high-end materials, such as crystal, marble and mother-of-pearl. It is reported that 600 staff members work around the clock at the Ambani family home, manning the hair salon, ice-cream parlour and a six-floor garage capable of storing 168 cars.

Inside the controversial home there are more surprises in store. The family have their own mega Hindu temple for worship and holding big family celebrations. All of the family weddings are also held here at huge expense: the most recent nuptials saw the home decorated with over 5,000 fresh orchids.

Antilia has the ultimate luxury for a Mumbai residence, where temperatures can reach 41°C: a winter room that reportedly sheds man-made snowflakes whenever the Ambanis feel like having a snowball fight. With such over-the-top features, it's no wonder that the property has attracted mass criticism for its ostentatiousness in a country with such widespread poverty.

The luxury home also has its own ballroom, said to be modelled exactly on this one at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in New York City. We can't say we're surprised.

Kim Kardashian
In April 2021, Forbes officially declared American socialite Kim Kardashian a billionaire, now said to be worth $1.2 billion (£960m) in 2022, two years after her little sister, Kylie Jenner, achieved billionaire status. As well as gracing our TV screens and the covers of glossy magazines, Kim has become an entrepreneur, using her wealth and social status to launch two successful brands: KKW Beauty and Skims. So, let's take a look at where Kim lives and how she's spent her fortune...
Kim Kardashian's Hidden Hills mega-mansion, California, USA
Kim and her ex-husband Kanye West purchased this mega-mansion for $20 million (£16.1m) in 2014, spending an additional $20 million (£16.1m) on a dramatic revamp to meet Kanye's love of minimalist design. After the extensive renovations, the family finally moved out of Kris Jenner's home, which was conveniently located across the street, and into their newly updated property in December 2017.

Thanks to her love of social media, Kim has provided us with plenty of chances to nosy inside her home. Described by Kanye as a 'futuristic monastery', the former couple worked with Belgian architect Axel Vervoordt on the home's design. The master bedroom includes a seating area and an ensuite bathroom, where Kim poses in this mirror selfie. Offering a sleek grey bath and open shower, the bathroom also boasts two unique double sinks with no basins, a feature that instantly went viral.

Set on over three acres of land, the overhauled estate features incredible vineyards, mature trees and expansive lawns. According to Realtor, Kim is said to own all the land that the house sits on, while Kanye owns the structure itself. Valued at around $60 million (£48.2m), Kanye claimed the ranches in the divorce settlement, while Kim bought her husband out of the Hidden Hills estate for $23 million (£18.5m) according to US Weekly.

Not to be outdone by their Hidden Hills manse, Kim’s children would have been delighted with her decision to build so-called ‘Lil Hidden Hills’ in the backyard – a Never Never Land-esque toy town complete with streetlights, ATM, Starbucks, West Diner, a mini grocery store, a fire station, a KKW Beauty boutique, and an ice cream castle. North certainly seems to enjoy playing barista in the town’s mini Starbucks, featuring on mum’s TikTok sporting a blonde wig, and playing tour guide around the property’s tiny village.

Kim apparently built ‘Lil Hidden Hills’ back in March of 2021, and has added to it since then. But how would the Kardashian-West mini-mes get around? Probably quite easily, thanks to their billionaire mum who invested in this fleet of child’s size luxury cars worth thousands of dollars – including a Lamborghini and two Mercedes.

Donald Trump
As the former US president doesn’t allow us to forget, Donald Trump was a successful businessman prior to his political career. From hotels and hospitality to golf courses and steaks, the ex-Celebrity Apprentice star’s business acumen is thought to be worth $2.5 billion (£2bn). This makes him the first, and only, billionaire president, and wealthier than all previous presidents combined.

A venture he firmly stamped his name on is Trump Tower – a 58-storey skyscraper that sits on New York’s famous Fifth Avenue. Valued at $371 million (£298m) excluding Trump's triplex by Forbes, it houses uber-luxe residential complexes as well as retail spaces, and of course, Trump's personal residence in the penthouse.

Prior to moving into the White House in 2017, Trump, his wife Melania and their son Barron lived in the gaudy top-floor apartment, pictured here when Trump hosted the Japanese prime minister. Recently, however, the triplex has been the subject of an ongoing civil investigation. New York Attorney General, Letitia James alleged that Trump submitted inflated valuations of a number of his properties including his Trump Tower triplex, claiming it was three times its actual size. The civil investigation which, according to the BBC, was opened in 2019, aims to prove the government's claims that Trump inflated the value of his assets to banks when seeking loans.

Donald Trump likes to champion himself as a man of the people, but it’s fair to say his building is far from ordinary. Gold is his go-to colour of choice and it appears throughout the building. From the lettering that spells his name on the front of the building, to the private elevator he takes to the top floor, everything in this tower shines like the crown jewels.

Despite owning a golden penthouse within his very own Manhattan-based Trump Tower, since 2019 the ex-president and businessman spends most of his days in Palm Beach. Having snapped up this Mar-a-Lago beach mansion in 1985, Trump has seen the property soar in value since its original price of $8 million (£6.4m). After leaving the White House in 2021, the ex-POTUS, his wife Melania and son Barron live in the luxury owner’s suite while the rest of the estate functions as an uber-exclusive members' club.

Since purchasing the palatial abode, Trump set to work bringing the total room count from 118 to 126 and investing in a 20,000 square foot Louis XIV-style ballroom. Seen here, the ballroom is rumoured to have been adorned with $7 million (£5.6m) worth of gold leaf in the early 1920s, reportedly using up America's entire supply.

Oprah Winfrey
Our next billionaire is a passionate skier as well as the talk show host extraordinaire we all know and love. Worth a whopping $2.5 billion (£2bn) Oprah Winfrey can afford to purchase multiple properties wherever she likes. Let’s take a look inside her anything-but-modest, state-of-the-art ski chalet with surprising features…

Having splurged $10.8 million (£8.7m) on a staggering 60 acres of land in Telluride in Colorado in 2014, the American TV star wasted little time snapping up this five-bedroom, six-and-a-half-bathroom contemporary ski chalet in 2015. Tech entrepreneur Bob Wall sold Winfrey the chalet fully furnished for $14 million (£11.2m), including a billiards table and a movie projection screen.

Stretched across 8,700 square feet, this is not some average little ski chalet. Pictured is the spectacular double-height, wood-panelled living room complete with state-of-the-art Smart technology that helps keep the billionaire TV star warm, cosy and well-protected by high-tech security systems. If the evening calls for a glass of wine, she’s in luck, as the surprising property comes with a 56-foot cellar, which can store up to 1,600 bottles and has been designed to resemble an old mine.

What’s more, our favourite host can enjoy a post-slope soak in a $70,000 (£56.2k) bathtub and stroll along her $150,000 (£120.4k) glass walkway to the bedroom with its colour-changing fibre-optic lights. Oprah can also take advantage of the chalet's private funicular railway back to the mountains come morning, which is rumoured to have cost $240,000 (£192.7k).

Steve Wynn
Billionaire casino tycoon, real estate developer and art collector Steve Wynn is thought to be worth a cool $3.2 billion (£2.3bn), according to Forbes. He made his fortune overseeing the construction of iconic hotels in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, and played a pivotal role in the expansion of the Las Vegas Strip in the 1990s. In 2000, Wynn sold his company, Mirage Resorts, to MGM Grand, sealing his fate as one of the world's richest men.
Steve Wynn's Beverly Hills Estate, California, USA
So, unsurprisingly, Wynn's private home is anything but ordinary. Located on a stunning hillside plot in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, this mega-mansion has belonged to Wynn since 2015. The billionaire bolthole hit the market in 2021 for $110 million (£88.3m), but after failing to find a buyer, the price was inexplicably hiked up to $125 million (£100.3m), making the prominent estate one of California's most expensive house listings to date.
Steve Wynn's Beverly Hills Estate, California, USA
Wynn reportedly bought the property from Guess Jeans co-founder Maurice Marciano for a little under $48 million (£38.5m) and expanded the home dramatically over the years. In fact, the casino mogul added about 8,000 square feet to the colossal compound, while transforming the living spaces into contemporary works of art.
Steve Wynn's Beverly Hills Estate, California, USA
The house occupies three floors and now encompasses 27,150 square feet, including 11 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms. The home's eclectic interior design was undertaken by Roger Thomas, vibrant furnishings and high-end architectural elements delivering dramatic living areas with five-star hotel vibes. The property's lavish extras include a bar, movie theatre, gym and elevator...

Not to mention a wine room, to store prized bottles of vino! The property sits on almost three acres of land, with a guesthouse, a swimming pool and a tennis court. Terraces surround the back of the house, offering priceless views over Downtown Los Angeles. Additionally, the estate offers three staff suites and two apartments for the owner's security team.

Oh, and did we mention the house also comes with its own art gallery, complete with original Andy Warhol pop art? It seems Wynn still owns the billionaire paradise, since it was removed from the market sometime in mid-2021 after failing to secure a buyer.

Lev Leviev
Lev Leviev made his billion-dollar fortune getting into business with one of the most valuable minerals on earth. Nicknamed the 'King of Diamonds’, the Israeli billionaire, his wife and nine children unsurprisingly reside in a home fit for royalty.

You won't believe it, but this awe-inspiring manor lies relatively close to central London. If you thought London house prices were already too expensive, Highgate’s super-exclusive Compton Avenue is a true millionaires-only zone. In fact, Leviev’s £35 million ($43.6m) mansion – known as The Palladio Residence – is one of the most expensive homes in Britain.

Built like a fortress, this pad is ultra-secure and overflowing with lavish extras. But the billionaire bling doesn't stop there! The house also has its own hair salon, complete with a treatment room for all your styling needs. In addition, there's this huge spa-like indoor pool in the basement that's hiding a very cool secret...

Bill Gates
What’s a man who’s worth an unfathomable $110.1 billion (£88.4bn) to do with all that cash? Bill Gates, centibillionaire and the co-founder of the mammoth Microsoft Corporation, is widely known for his philanthropic efforts, but he also spent a fortune – an estimated $127 million (£101.9m) – on a 66,000 square feet mega-mansion in Medina, Washington that he shared with now ex-wife, Melinda.

Sheltered by woodlands, the property benefits from complete privacy in the middle of the wilderness. Although he’s yet to give the public a glimpse inside his high-tech home, Gates has revealed it has a number of special amenities fit for billionaires only. The details of the waterfront compound have been kept so private that a tour of the property was purchased for $35,000 (£28.1k) at a charity auction in 2009, according to TechCrunch.

A lot of millionaires and billionaires have private pools in their homes, right? But do their pools have an underwater music system, or allow you to swim underneath a glass wall and surface at a secluded outdoor terrace? Probably not! And you won’t believe what else he’s packed into the house…
Bill Gates' Xanadu 2.0, Washington, USA
That’s right, Gates and his former wife Melinda let their fun-loving sides loose when designing the magnificent mega-mansion and installed a trampoline suite where you can bounce wall-to-wall. How else would a billionaire let off steam? Reporedly, despite all its assets Melinda was not a huge fan of the ostentatious manse, reportedly telling The New York Times in 2019, "I’m actually really looking forward to the day that Bill and I live in a 1,500-square foot house.”

Gates' home also has a lavish library with a 16th-century Leonardo da Vinci manuscript known as the Codex Leicester, which he bought for $30.8 million (£24.7m) at auction in 1994. In addition to these outlandish treasures, there’s also a private beach with imported Caribbean sand, while Gates' beloved 40-year-old maple tree is monitored by a computer to administer water automatically if it gets too dry.

Scott McNealy
Worth a neat $1 billion (£802.7m), American businessman and former CEO of Sun Microsystems Scott McNealy put his home on the market in 2018, offering us a fascinating insight into how he spends his hard-earned cash. The residence was listed for just shy of $100 million (£80.3m), making it one of the most expensive homes in American history. Yet after wavering on the market for over a year the price was reduced to $53.8 million (£43.2m), which is a bargain when you think about it.

Situated in sought-after Silicon Valley, the sprawling house is jam-packed full of spectacular features that tick a number of boxes when it comes to childhood fantasies…

These include a 7,300 square foot multipurpose sports arena that can be used as a tennis court, hockey pitch or ice rink, depending on what sport you feel like playing. After a game, you can unwind in the spa, complete with steam rooms, saunas and massage tables for a thorough pampering.

The Palo Alto mega-mansion is also equipped with a specially designated poker room. Wouldn’t you like to test McNealy’s hand and have a crack at winning some of his millions? Elsewhere, you'll find a hidden panic room, a disco and a wine cellar.

If you prefer the big screen to playing cards then McNealy's plush movie theatre should do the trick. There's also a full gym, pool and a 110-yard golf practice area with two putting greens.

There's no denying this pad is one of the most luxurious in the world. What big kid wouldn't want to hang out with their buddies in this den? Space is no issue at this huge estate (it's got room to park 20 cars!), so this playroom has everything to pass the time including a ping pong table and a basketball arcade game. Despite a radical revamp in 2019 as reported by the Daily Mail, according to the listing, the property was finally removed from the market in December 2021.

Jeff Bezos
Jeff Bezos became a centibillionaire in 2017, according to Tatler, when his net worth surpassed the $100 billion (£80.3bn) mark. Then, in 2020, the American entrepreneur and Amazon founder became the first person in the world to accumulate a wealth of $200 billion (£160.5bn), according to Forbes. But what does Bezos's home look like?

Bezos doesn’t have just one home – he has a whole collection, including this Spanish-style Beverly Hills mansion, which he bought for almost $25 million (£20.1m) in 2007. Then, in 2016, Bezos purchased the biggest house in Washington DC for $23 million (£18.5m) and immediately undertook a $12 million (£9.6m) renovation project, creating an estate in the heart of the American capital. The property, an old textile museum, comprises the two buildings in the image; floorplans published by The Washingtonian reveal it has a solarium, whiskey room and a 1,500 square foot ballroom.
Jeff Bezos’ Corn Ranch, Texas, USA
Every billionaire worth his salt is interested in space travel – after all, what’s left for them to conquer here on earth? Bezos went one step further and bought Corn Ranch in Van Horn, Texas, as a base for his space tourism enterprise, Blue Origin. In 2015, the team, based at the huge 165,000-acre property, successfully landed the first rocket safely back on terra firma after launching it into space.

In homage to the happy times he spent on his grandparents' Texan ranch, billionaire Bezos created his own rustic slice of the good life for his family, too, on the extremely private Figure 2 Ranch. But, in typical fashion, he is using it as the site for another futuristic project, building a $42 million (£33.7m) clock prototype in the surrounding Sierra Diablo Mountains that will keep perfect time for 10,000 years.

The amazing home features aren't just indoors, either: the property also has a captivating man-made waterfall trickling into a private lake, in sight of the Colorado mountain ranges. Mark Zuckerberg
Our final billionaire, with a net worth of $76bn (£61bn) is privacy-loving social media spearhead, Mark Zuckerberg. Shrouded in secrecy, it’s unlikely we’ll ever discover the entirety of his property portfolio, but reports show the Facebook CEO maintains property in the Noe Valley, San Francisco and a 700-plus acre mega-estate on the Hawaiian island of Kauai alongside his main residence reported to be a $43 million (£34.5m), five-parcel compound in billionaire favourite Palo Alto. But what about his rumoured Lake Tahoe compound?
