Inside Paul Collingwood's country home
The English country home of three-time Ashes winner Paul Collingwood has gone on the market for a cool £1.15million. Take a look inside this dream of a home decked out with all the luxuries you might expect of an international sportsman. Let's take a look...
Set in stone
The stunning stone-built home is set within the quiet countryside of Hindley, Northumberland, in the north east of England, and its impressively maintained grounds extend to 3.6 acres. Offering five bedrooms and wonderfully flexible living, it’s no wonder the former English cricketer and Durham captain chose the sweetly named Summerside House for his family home.
Heart of the home
Clearly the social hub of the property, the fabulous open-plan kitchen, dining and living room is an architectural delight. The room features handsome roof trusses, an exposed brick wall above the four-oven AGA and gorgeous flooring throughout. We’re big fans of the circular kitchen island, too.
Cosy kitchen
Check out the full-height brick fireplace at the end of the room, that’s been thoughtfully fitted with a log-effect effect stove. A great way to keep this large space toasty in the evenings!
Raising the bar
This curved breakfast bar is an unusual addition and it works well to keep the kitchen a sociable space. Leather stools and black light fixtures toughen up the kitchen, and you can’t beat fresh flowers for finishing a room.
Spacious living
With plenty of space in this room, Paul has created a dining area and also a living room, using a corner sofa to create different zones. We can just imagine him cooking dinner for his family here and catching up on each other’s days.

Take a seat
Leading off from the kitchen is one of our favourite rooms – the orangery. Flooded with natural light and beautifully built, there’s plenty of space for a few sofas. From the looks of the telescope, Paul takes advantage of the skylight to indulge in a little astrology…
Fiery divide
The double lantern roof in this room is a real showstopper, plus a central two-way fireplace here manages to divide the room into ‘adult’ and ‘kid’ sections.
Lighten up
From the outside, the orangery looks especially inviting when it’s all lit up. Large doors open out onto a patio, which could be a fun place for children to play or for adults to entertain.
Make an entrance
A super spacious entrance hall welcomes you into the residence, where you can see instantly that this is a home of quality. Interesting features such as the artfully exposed stonework, wooden beams and heated floor tiles really set Paul’s home apart. There’s also a bespoke staircase, Wych Elm internal doors and plenty of storage.
Master of the house
Set on the ground floor of the property, this is no doubt Paul Collingwood’s bedroom. The astounding master suite is found just off the flagged hall and offers splendid views over the terrace and countryside beyond. Thanks to a huge skylight, you can lay in bed and count the stars.

Suite dreams
Not only is the bedroom of cavernous proportions but it’s served by an ensuite bathroom as well as a dressing room. There’s more than enough space to practise your cricket swing too…
Dress to impress
A step from the bedroom leads to the adjoining dressing room, an enormous space that’s well equipped with a handsome set of built-in wardrobes that look more than capable of housing your cricket whites. The matching seat in the middle of the room is sure to come in useful too.
Bathroom goals
From the dressing room you can access the sumptuous master bathroom, complete with walk-in shower, mood lighting and this eye-catching central bathtub. What better place to unwind after a long walk in the country?
Ample storage
Those with bursting wardrobes needn’t worry, as Summerside House provides more than enough space for all your clothes.
Kidding around
Here’s a children’s bedroom that’s sure to impress youngsters! The matching curtains and quilts look cute with Paul’s signature oak furniture. It looks like he’s trying to pass on his love of stargazing if those ceiling lights are anything to go by…

Another level
It’s not just Paul who gets his own suite, as the children’s bedrooms feature a ladder that leads from up to another room…
Play time
A split-level bedroom and playroom is certainly a great way to keep all the toys together!
Let me entertain you
Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the cricketer’s sophisticated pad is this magnificent bbq room. As a nod to all the cricket pro's battles with the Aussies over the years, the barbecue room is Australian style. With bi-fold windows on three sides, it’s the perfect place to relax or entertain whatever the unpredictable English weather is doing.
Beautiful inside and out
The Australian-style bbq space is every meat fanatic’s dream realised! Not only does its exterior look the part, but things are just as sweet inside where you’ll find a professional grill, stainless steel open fire, beer tap, range of units and work surfaces with a sink, handy wine rack, an inset Champagne cooler, a flat-screen TV and a sleek corner sofa.
Service, sir?
Down one side of this gorgeous garden room is a slick bar, where a row of leather bar stools are lined up for your guests to take their seats. We reckon it’s the sort of spot players might sit with a beer and discuss their bowling speeds. No? Just us?
Tee off
The retired cricketer is also a rather good golfer and since hanging up his cricket boots, he’s been determined to reduce his handicap. We reckon the instalment of this lavish six-hole putting green in his garden may have helped somewhat.

Good impressions
Much like its talented owner, we’d say this elegant stone home is a good all rounder! With plenty of space, flowing accommodation and undoubtedly good looks, we hardly think the property will be on the market for long. The sweeping gravelled driveway makes an excellent first impression.
Little extras
The well-kept grounds at Summerside House incorporate a whole host of sweeteners, such as tranquil water features, up-lighting, Control4 audio, security and lighting system as well as raised beds and interesting plantings in the formal gardens.
Run wild
Beyond the extensive formal grounds is a fenced paddock that slopes down the hill towards Stocksfield Burn. The grassed enclosure provides abundant grazing for a couple of horses. With all this on this doorstep, Summerside House is a tantalisingly tempting pile. If you’re interested, it’s on the market for £1,150,000 with Fine & Country.
