Loved for the glitz, glamour and gossip, Netflix's Selling Sunset is more than just a real estate show. Following the luxurious high ticket listings of The Oppenheim Group, a high-end Los Angeles-based real estate brokerage, the hit series blends prestigious properties with cat fights, VIP buyers, over-the-top parties and crazy commissions. With the recent release of season five, let's take a closer look at some of the show's most memorable (and expensive) homes...
Proudly sitting on its own promontory just above the Sunset Strip, this secluded residence was featured in series five of Selling Sunset and sold for just over $4.7 million (£3.8m) in September 2021. In fact, it was the newest member of The Oppenheim Group who managed to secure a buyer for the three-bedroom home in the Hollywood Hills.
Chelsea Lazkani, pictured here with colleague Heather Rae El Moussa, joined the reality realtor crew for season five, making a grand entrance with her designer clothes and dazzling selling skills. Originally from London, UK, Chelsea has certainly found her feet in the bright lights of LA, selling properties on and off camera since moving to the Golden State in 2015.
The Franklin Avenue property that Chelsea sold to bag a desk at the brokerage features swathes of glass that frame panoramic vistas across the city and the Hollywood Hills. A huge open-plan living area beckons you inside, with vaulted wood-beamed ceilings, a double-sided fireplace and a sleek, contemporary kitchen adorned with stainless steel.
The home offers a total of three bedrooms, including the plush owner's suite, which is accessed via a custom floating staircase. Alongside a luxurious spa-like bathroom complete with benches, a walk-in shower and access to a large deck area, the bedroom features more incredible floor-to-ceiling windows with views across the hillside.
This more traditional estate from season five can be found on North Maple Drive, another coveted Beverly Hills address for the Selling Sunset portfolio. With a whopping 6,000 square feet of living space and an acre of immaculate grounds, this characterful home had two agents in charge of its listing.
Selling for $10.6 million (£8.5m) in October 2021, Brett Oppenheim and Crishell Stauss co-listed the 90210 estate together. Season five was a big one for Crishell, who dated Brett's twin brother and co-president of the brokerage, Jason, for five months during filming. The couple broke up in December 2021 and the rocky aftermath was captured in the series' final episode.
Nevertheless, Brett and Crishell's co-listing was clearly a success and the home was beautifully staged. A chef's kitchen adorned with Calacatta gold marble greets you on arrival, leading to the stunning grand living area with its soaring wood-clad ceiling. There's a total of six opulent ensuite bedrooms, offering plenty of space for guests to stay in style.
Elsewhere, the luxurious master suite features exposed beams, an impressive walk-in closet and a bathroom with a freestanding bathtub. Meanwhile, this beautiful twin room offers a vaulted ceiling adorned with whimsical illustrations of swallows. The floor plan also includes a gym, home office, laundry room and garage, as well as Sonos and Lutron home automation systems.
This eye-watering mansion, constructed almost entirely of concrete, sits atop the coveted Hollywood Hills on Blue Jay Way in the Bird Streets. The three-storey estate boasts cascading walls of glass that provide incredible and highly Instagrammable views across the Pacific Ocean and Santa Monica Mountains. But which Selling Sunset star nearly took a tumble at the property?
Emma Hernan, who joined the brokerage in season four, was the realtor who toured this particular LA listing with colleague Crishell Stause on behalf of her client. Still on the market for just under $24 million (£19m), if she had secured the sale, she would have reportedly been in line for a rather impressive $719,000 (£571k) commission, which is possibly why she risked life and limb to balance on the edge of the property’s stunning zero-edge infinity pool to snap a photo for her client.
Inside the 11,500-square-foot mansion, prospective buyers will find bespoke finishes and chic design features, not least in the master suite, which spans half of the lower level. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out across the rooftop decks and outdoor dining areas, plus the sweeping 3,000-square-foot pool deck.
What’s more, the modern masterpiece boasts designer walk-in closets, an exceptional cook's kitchen designed by Italian brand Dada, plus this custom stainless steel wine cellar. Emma also took a tour of another hillside home in season five with its developer, Micah McDonald. Sparks flew between the two but only time (and new episodes) will tell if there's more than a business relationship in store for the pair...
With over 10,000 interior square feet of bespoke design, this modern six-bedroom home resides within an exclusive neighbourhood in Santa Monica. 1410 Georgina Avenue includes one particularly impressive feature: at the touch of a button, 25-foot motorised sliders open up the home's living spaces to the sprawling backyard for the ultimate in indoor-outdoor living.
Seen here at her leaving drinks event, well-loved realtor Maya Vander sold this contemporary residence just before she traded LA and The Oppenheim Group for pastures new in Miami. Originally on the market for just over $12.9 million (£10.3m), the house sold for $12.5 million (£10m) in October 2021 and Maya would have earned an impressive commission as her leaving present.
The double-height entryway includes a 30-foot wall of intricate walnut framework and a floating staircase that leads up to the top-floor owner’s suite. If you'd prefer to sidestep the staircase, there's also an elevator that connects each of the floors. Elsewhere in the house, there's a plush movie theatre, a gym and a 2,300-square-foot underground auto gallery with a rotating electric carousel.
Featuring a private terrace, the owner's suite boasts magnificent views across the Santa Monica mountains and the home's covetable infinity pool and barbecue area below. Let's hope Maya didn’t risk teetering on the edge of the pool like her colleague, Emma… The impressive property has since come back on the market for the inflated price of nearly $18 million (£14.4m).
Rewinding to season four, 2157 Mount Olympus Drive was by far one of the most iconic properties to have featured on Selling Sunset, although fans might not initially recognise it from the outside. Yet step through the front door and you'll remember a rather unfortunate marketing event that realtor Christine Quinn organised in order to offload the 4,100-square-foot mansion...
The home's stunning and contemporary interior was the scene of Christine's iconic 'Burgers and Botox' party. During episodes one and two of season three, Christine needed to find an innovative way to start a buzz around the $5.5 million (£4.4m) house. She joined forces with another realtor, who was a little dubious about the event, and invited wealthy house-hunters around for burgers and a free shot of Botox! It doesn't get much more LA than that...
The four-bedroom, four-bathroom property was built in 2016 and was designed with entertaining in mind. Sleek, minimalist and kitted out with high-end fixtures, the luxurious mansion benefits from open-plan living areas with 14-foot ceilings, LED lighting and smart home technology. Wall-to-wall sliding glass doors open up to the garden, while unique extras, such as an indoor firepit, infrared sauna and artistic staircase, help to make this a one-of-a-kind residence.
Outside, the house boasts 9,515 square feet of space, including a rooftop putting green, an infinity pool and a retractable 15-foot television. Not only that, but the billionaire backyard benefits from jaw-dropping views of Downtown Los Angeles, the ocean and Catalina Island. Despite Christine's novel way of attempting to pique some interest, the property failed to sell, so she missed out on the $164,850 (£132k) commission.
In season three, realtor Heather Rae El Moussa (then Young) teamed up with newbie Amanza Smith to attempt to revamp this stunning 1950s residence. Situated on a quiet cul-de-sac in lower Sunset Plaza, 8630 Fennell Place is known as The Bergman Residence. The 3,000-square-foot home was bare and lacked any personality when Heather and Amanza were given the challenge of selling it. As part of The Oppenheim Group's Concierge Service, the pair set about transforming the interior in order to make it more appealing to buyers.
Used to working alone – and claiming all the commission for themselves – the duo were initially dubious about working together. Especially given the fact that they had come to verbal blows earlier in the week. The task was made even more challenging when Jason Oppenheim informed them that the homeowner had just 105 days to sell the home, or they faced losing $93,000 (£73k). But, thanks to Amanza's previous role as a home stager, the transformation worked a treat.
In the space of a few days, Heather and Amanza revamped the interior by refurbishing the floors, hanging some vibrant art and staging the rooms with chic furnishings. The three-bedroom, four-bathroom house was then listed for $3.7 million (£3m) and sold in just 15 days for just under the asking price. Heather and Amanza then split the $105,000 (£84) commission. That's not a bad fee for two weeks' work, is it?
Described by The Oppenheim Group as the "quintessential post-and-beam contemporary", the single-storey home boasts a stunning chef's kitchen with white marble countertops, custom built-ins and oak flooring throughout, as well as motorised blinds and a water filtration system. There’s also a gorgeous backyard, complete with a large outdoor deck, a kitchen, spa, firepit and an all-weather Sonos sound system. The garage was even converted into a soundproofed music studio, making it perfect for a pop star.
Fans will remember that 11747 Laurelwood proved a tricky sell for Chrishell. The newly-built Studio City retreat featured on season two and three, and was hard to shift mainly due to its steeply sloping driveway and lack of car parking space. Situated on a secluded plot behind private gates, the ultra-secure home is entirely bespoke and benefits from high-end interior design and custom finishes throughout.
The warm and contemporary property offers city and mountain views, thanks to its oversized sliding doors. Soaring ceilings and an open floorplan allow for an easy flow between spaces, while hardwood floors, wall-to-wall pocket doors, and double-sided fireplaces give every room real wow factor. There are five bedrooms and seven bathrooms across the home's 6,361-square-foot interior.
The expansive chef’s kitchen is one of the finest spaces in Laurelwood. With walnut cabinets and a huge island with a wraparound breakfast bar, it's perfect for entertaining and everyday dining. Upstairs, you'll find a gorgeous master suite with a vaulted wood-beamed ceiling, a walk-in closet, an outdoor deck, and a spa-quality bathroom. There's also a bar, a home theatre, a games room and a five-car garage.
Almost every ground floor room leads onto the breathtaking 21,936-square-foot garden, where a swimming pool, basketball court, hot tub and outdoor lounge areas can be found. There's also an exterior deck and a kitchen for alfresco dining, as well as a fireplace and TV for cosy nights under the stars. Despite being on the market for longer than expected, Chrishell finally sold Laurelwood for $4.1 million (£3.3m), which gained her a $124,000 (£99k) commission.
Fans may remember 1975 Loma Vista Drive from the pilot episode of Selling Sunset. Located in the sought-after Trousdale Estates in Beverly Hills, the 5,193-square-foot property was our first chance to see Christine Quinn work her magic on her clients, during a glitzy twilight showing.
The contemporary single-storey masterpiece boasts a gorgeous open-plan living room, a dominant great room and a Miele-designed kitchen with Porcelanosa countertops and high-end appliances. This pad showcases the indoor-outdoor lifestyle perfectly, thanks to its 100 feet of automated Fleetwood sliding glass panels, which seamlessly connect the interior with the garden.
There are four bedrooms and five bathrooms, and the home's gorgeous master suite is adorned with a wall of stone and a dual-sided fireplace. Elegant and minimalist, the room boasts a gorgeous open ensuite with a soaking tub overlooking the garden. Sliding glass doors lead onto a chic private deck, making the space expansive and serene.
Sitting on almost half an acre of land, the house is just as stunning outside. Reminiscent of a five-star hotel, the garden is stylish and tranquil. Inspired by a Balinese resort it features a zero-edge infinity pool, a Koi pond and a kitchen. The lucky new owner can utilise the outdoor dining area for moonlit drinks or snuggle around the firepit on cooler evenings. Initially listed for $12.5 million (£10m), it sold for $10.9 million (£8.7m), giving Christine a bonus of almost $230,000 (£184k).
During 'The Red Engagement Party' episode of series two, The Oppenheim Group's newest recruit of the season, Amanza Smith, was given 1803 North Stanley Avenue as her first listing. Nestled above the coveted Sunset Strip, this traditional estate was built in 1941 but was recently exquisitely remodelled. Yet despite the home being beautiful, and offering a relatively low price tag of $2.5 million (£2m), Amanza had her work cut out for her!
The home's interior is cosy, stylish and spacious, with generous living rooms and ample natural light. Floor-to-ceiling French doors decorate the main lounge and lead out onto an extensive back garden. Boasting 2,476 square feet of inside space, the traditional home features plenty of original period details, including cool brick fireplaces, authentic bay windows and elegant hardwood floors.
There's a bright gourmet kitchen with white cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, herringbone tiles and a snug breakfast nook, as well as a family room that's perfect for entertaining. The house features three bathrooms and three bedrooms, which are all light, bright and inviting. Plus, thanks to prominent windows, there's a seamless flow between the indoor and outdoor living spaces.
The home's 8,938-square-foot garden is ultra-private and generously sized. There's a large swimming pool, plenty of greenery, and an exquisite multi-level terrace for dining or lounging alfresco. Despite struggling to drum up interest in the property, Amanza eventually sold North Stanley Avenue for just under $2.3 million (£1.8m) in season three.
Described by The Oppenheim Group as an "architectural tour-de-force", 8448 Harold Way sits above the Sunset Strip and offers the most spectacular views of Los Angeles and the ocean. Constructed in 1958, the property was completely remodelled in 2018 and is now a stunning home with plenty of quirky details that really set it apart.
Viewers may recall Maya's awkward viewing, when her client was a little more interested in acquiring a date than the property itself! Listed for just under $5.5 million (£4.4m), it finally sold for $5.1 million (£4m), giving Maya a tidy commission of $153,000 (£122k). Soaring vaulted ceilings and an open-plan layout allow for bright and spacious living areas, while floor-to-ceiling glass doors create a seamless indoor-outdoor transition.
The 3,708-square-foot home boasts three bedrooms and four bathrooms. The expansive master suite is definitely one of the home's most appealing spaces. With a towering ceiling and classic timber panelling, the room also comes with a roaring fireplace, two private balconies, a large walk-in closet, and a generous bathroom with a tub and sitting area – the ultimate space for unwinding.
The home's cantilevered 9,141-square-foot deck boasts plenty of space for entertaining and relaxing. The luxe terrace appears to hang over the city itself, enabling any occupant to enjoy spectacular views over the city lights of Downtown Los Angeles. Complete with a lounge area and a stunning swimming pool, this is the only place we would want to be.
According to Jason Oppenheim, 408 Hillside Avenue is the biggest house to ever be built in the Hollywood Hills. The incredible abode is positioned on a prominent hilltop plot overlooking LA and stands proud at 8,408 square feet. As the largest house The Oppenheim Group has ever represented, the pad came with a hefty price tag. Listed for $40 million (£32m), the home gave one member of the team the chance to gain a $1.2 million (£960k) bonus. With this listing, the competition was on!
Designed by the renowned architects at Saota, the 20,000-square-foot estate boasts unmatched interior design, bespoke finishes throughout and lots of jaw-dropping luxurious features. There are five bedrooms and nine bathrooms, as well as a 15-car garage, four hot tubs and elevator access to each level. The master suite is truly enchanting and comes with frameless sliding doors and a private outdoor terrace, which offers uninterrupted landscape views.
The garden offers outside seating and dining areas, as well as a 175-foot linear pool. Again, Jason claims this to be the longest in the area! There's also a 16-foot outdoor television, which raises up to allow the lucky occupier to watch their favourite shows from the comfort of the master bedroom above. Elsewhere, you'll find a home theatre, a wine cellar and a spa with multiple saunas! It's no real surprise that this pad quickly sold for $35 million (£28m), before it was even completed.
Featured on the first season of the show, the property was still under construction when the team took a tour. During the episode, Jason explained that the home's 4,000-square-foot rooftop deck offers 360-degree panorama and is the largest deck of any home to ever be listed in the Hollywood Hills. The property's developer also apparently forked out over $400,000 (£320k) to have the power lines removed from the surrounding area, in order to enhance the views.
Season three saw plenty of stunning homes, including 807 North Crescent Drive. Listed by The Oppenheim Group's co-founder, Brett, the Beverly Hills estate was built in 1982 but was meticulously renovated before being listed for sale for $18 million (£14.4m). Positioned on a stunning 30,000-square-foot plot, this property is a real classic.
Described by The Oppenheim Group as "one of the grandest properties to come to market in the Beverly Hills flats in many years", the house is positioned next door to the world-renowned Beverly Hills Hotel, a big celebrity hot spot. The grand 11,588-square-foot abode boasts a contemporary floor plan with high ceilings, parquet oak flooring and elegant finishes throughout.
There are six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, as well as a sleek kitchen with a full bar, custom cabinetry and Sub Zero and Wolf appliances. The oversized master suite comes with a wood-burning fireplace, while elsewhere you can find a dry sauna and a three-car attached garage.
Despite being thoroughly renovated, the property still maintains much of its period charm. Many of the rooms still feature timber panelling, elegant light fixtures and original windows. Some of the rooms also benefit from cathedral ceilings with exposed timber beams, marble fireplaces and decorative stained glass windows. Outside, you'll also find a swimming pool, a sprawling lawn and a tennis court. Really, what more could anyone need?
1021 North Beverly Drive featured on season two and three of Selling Sunset and at the time was the most expensive listing The Oppenheim Group had ever had. Davina Potratz was given the task of off-loading the 15,605-square-foot estate, which was developed by a Russian entrepreneur. Despite being warned not to do so, the owner refused to sell the house for anything less than $75 million (£60m)...
The house listed for sale in 2019 but is still on the market now, for the exact same price. So, should you have the funds, the palatial pad could be all yours. The brand new custom-built property boasts soaring ceilings, walls of glass and meticulous attention to detail. The stylish interior includes a dramatic entrance hall, a state-of-the-art chef’s kitchen, a movie theatre, gym and wine cellar.
In a bid to help Davina sell the home, Christine gave her then-fiance (now husband), Christian Richard, a guided tour, to see if any of his elite friends might be interested in sourcing a new home. The main house offers seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, as well as a lavish owner’s suite with his-and-hers walk-in closets and bathrooms. There's also a separate 2,690-square-foot guesthouse with two bedrooms and two bathrooms – the perfect spot for after-hours parties.
Thanks to floor-to-ceiling sliding doors, every space is light-filled and offers a seamless flow to the garden. The living rooms are perfect for entertaining, while the yard is ideal for resort-style relaxation. It comes with an outdoor kitchen and dining area, as well as one of Beverly Hill’s biggest swimming pools. Lush landscaping and a huge grassy yard also make the garden a quiet oasis in the heart of one of LA's most sought-after neighbourhoods.
