With residences in Los Angeles and his hometown of Ontario, Canada, Justin Bieber took his time to get onto the property ladder and has rented an incredible roster of high-end real estate since being discovered at just 13 years old. Today, married to Hailey Bieber, the star spends his time between Canada and Los Angeles in some truly palatial properties...

A world away from the celebrity lifestyle he leads today, Justin Bieber was born on 1 March 1994. He was raised in Stratford, a quaint city in southwest Ontario, by his single mother, Pattie Mallette. She gave birth to the star when she was 18 years old, and his early life was a humble one.

Growing up surrounded by his family, Bieber spent a lot of time staying at his grandparents' home. The three-bedroom, two-bathroom house was the backdrop for some of Bieber's first-ever YouTube videos. Fans got to see inside when it went on the market in 2014 for a reported $248,000 (£181k). Even the furnishings were included in the sale. 

Justin Bieber spent a large chunk of his childhood in this bedroom, which has the themed wallpaper and bedspread commemorating his favourite hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. His grandparents moved out of the house when he bought them another home which could offer them more privacy. 

Bieber quickly went from an unknown 12-year-old singing cover songs on his sofa to a budding superstar. After spotting him on YouTube, talent agent Scooter Braun secured Bieber an audition with Usher, who was impressed and helped Bieber to sign a record deal. Just months later in May 2009, his first single 'One Time' was released, followed by his first album at 16 years old in 2010, My World, which included his top hit 'Baby'. 

After his debut album went platinum, the young singer went on to release his second studio album Believe in 2012 which collected a whole host of top 10 hits. In 2015, the pop star had another smash with 'Where Are Ü Now'. Bieber's latest album, Changes was released in February 2020 and these global successes have helped him to amass a net worth of $285 million (£208m).

Bieber took his first steps onto the property ladder in 2012 when he was just 18 years old. He bought this elegant Calabasas mansion, paying $6.5 million (£4.7m). Located inside the city's exclusive gated community, The Oaks, the home was a perfect sanctuary for the rising star. 

Built in 2005, the custom Spanish property has over 9,000 square feet of interior space and boasts six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. With endless living spaces for work, rest and play, the property was certainly big enough for Bieber and his entourage. Featuring a sophisticated aesthetic with plenty of Mediterranean touches throughout, the home was far from a childish hangout space for the star. 

Thanks to rustic fireplaces, soaring high ceilings and extensive windows, every room in the house is a grand affair. A luxurious hallway sits alongside a library, a movie theatre with stadium seating, a wet bar, wine cellar, games room and lift, there's also a large outdoor swimming pool, sunbathing deck and alfresco dining patio outside. 

In 2014, Bieber sold the palatial pad to Khloé Kardashian for an estimated $7.2 million (£5.5m), who has since sold it on for $15 million (£11.3m). The original sale took place after Bieber had a very public row with his neighbour, after he was said to throw eggs at the property. 

In the summer of 2014 after selling his luxury mansion, Bieber took two apartments in a new building in swanky Beverly Hills. He rented a prestigious penthouse and the unit below, which was thought to be for his entourage. It wasn't long before the young star was causing a stir in his new neighbourhood. Not long after he moved in, reports surfaced that the police had been called on a number of occasions amid excessive noise, earning him the unofficial title of the 'worst neighbour ever'. 

The five-storey building was a perfect home for the young pop star but coming in at a reported $27,000 (£19.8k) a month for the two apartments, it certainly didn't come cheap. The penthouse features an open-plan kitchen, dining room and living room that leads out to a small private balcony.

Featuring three bedrooms, the master suite also has a big walk-in wardrobe as well as a sliding glass door that accesses the balcony, which would have been ideal for the 20-year-old and his frequent parties. 

Outside, there's a private rooftop deck complete with a spa, barbecue area and a cabana, all of which have breathtaking views out over Beverly Hills. However, it wasn't long before Bieber was searching for other properties on the rental market. 

Much to the relief of his neighbours, Bieber departed the Beverly Hills condos in favour for this party pad that was rumoured to have cost him $29,500 (£21.6k) a month. Named The Lake Hollywood House it boasts a private nightclub, a movie theatre, state of the art sound system and a recording studio. 

Bieber was still renting the two condos when he took on this gigantic pleasure palace. The house was purely used by the star to throw lavish parties – much to the dismay of his new neighbours. Spread over 16,000 square feet, the home is full of extravagant spaces including this living room which boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors that lead outside. 

With 10 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, there would have been plenty of space for him and his friends. This master suite with its pink strip lighting and ensuite bathroom – complete with an illuminated hot tub – sets the tone for the rest of the opulent home. 

Outside is just as impressive with a huge deck with an 80-foot-long pool and the unusual addition of a Hollywood sign. As if all that wasn't enough, there's also a fully-equipped gym, three sports bars and a high-speed lift. 

Just a few months later it seemed Bieber's head had been turned away from the party pad as he rented out this glass mansion in Beverly Hills. The home, which was last sold in 2014 for $10.5 million (£7.7m), is known as the Salad Spinner house and was rented out by Bieber for a reported $60,000 (£43.7m) a month. 

Designed by renowned architect Ed Niles, the home is smaller than Bieber's previous rental at 7,500 square feet. Almost completely transparent with circular walls of glass and steel beams, the home boasts huge living spaces such as this one with both ocean and city views. 

With six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms, the home centres on a circular outdoor courtyard that has views over the infinity pool. This sleek bedroom features a curved wall of windows, a cosy sitting area and, of course, panoramic views. 

Bieber only lived in the rented home for two months and was soon ready to move on. The transparency of the architectural marvel was said to cause privacy issues and Bieber even found fans trespassing on his property. Over the next two years, he spent his time drifting from rental to rental around the Los Angeles area, including a home in Toluca Lake in 2016. 

After moving around Los Angeles for the last few years, Bieber still wasn't ready to buy and settled on renting this sprawling mansion in what's known as billionaires' row in north London in 2016. Rented for $147,000 (£108k) a month, it was said that the singer wanted to split his time between London and Los Angeles. 

Built in 1910, the house sits in two-and-a-half acres of land and has 27,000 square feet of interior living space. With 15 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, the star would have plenty of room to live the life of luxury with two kitchens and several living and dining areas. 

The mansion is home to a whole host of amazing amenities including an indoor and outdoor pool, a private theatre and a wine cellar. We can't help but wonder how many parties Bieber had while living here!

Outside, the sprawling grounds are just as breathtaking with a full tennis court and a five-car garage, and let's not forget the manicured grounds, which would have been perfect for taking some time out from the London leg of his Purpose tour. 

After heading back to Los Angeles and just as he ended his last rekindle with former flame Selena Gomez in March 2018, Bieber started renting this magnificent home in West Hollywood. At 6,000 square feet, it was much smaller than his previous rentals in Beverly Hills but was still full of luxury touches. Sold in April 2020 for $9.6 million (£7m), the home was reported to set the star back around $55,000 (£40.3m) a month. 

The master suite offers the ultimate in privacy, with a whole floor to itself. An ensuite bathroom sits alongside a glossy walk-in wardrobe, while the main area has a mirrored wall and a small home office area. Outside a sparkling infinity pool sits alongside a lounge area, barbecue area and an outdoor gym. 

In the summer of 2018, as reports surfaced of his sudden engagement to Hailey Baldwin, he finally got onto the property ladder and put down a reported $5 million (£3.7m) on this lakefront home in Puslinch, Ontario. Said to be the couple's base in Canada, the estate is set over 101 acres of sprawling Canadian countryside. 

With four ensuite bedrooms and five bathrooms, this master suite sits in its very own wing, giving privacy to the newly engaged couple and with an ensuite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe, they'll never be short of space. The home also features a cinema, games room, gym and an observatory. 

Surrounded by green space in a rugged countryside location, the home is enveloped by an array of manicured gardens as well as equestrian facilities and even the jaw-dropping addition of a private racetrack. 

After confirming that they had married in a courthouse wedding in September 2018, Justin Bieber finally settled on this more modest home with now-wife Hailey Baldwin, daughter of actor Alec Baldwin. The couple bought the cosy home, which sits on a quiet street in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles, in November 2019 for $8.5 million (£6.2m). 

The beautiful home was built in 1932 but has undergone extensive renovations to make into the modern masterpiece it is today. Spread over 6,000 square feet the home features a split-level living space. The sleek kitchen is complete with white oak cabinets and a marble-topped island, while the sliding floor-to-ceiling doors in the living space fill the space with light and lead outside to the beautiful grounds. 

Featuring five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, the stunning master suite has soaring ceilings, a fireplace and a custom wardrobe. There are also two separate living spaces, a home office, theatre, wine cellar and even a bar. 

Offering ultimate privacy, the backyard features an infinity pool and a cosy cabana space with a fireplace and barbecue. The star had a go at selling his home through Instagram in October 2019, posting 13 photos of the mansion with the caption “I think I wanna sell my home in Beverly Hills who wants it?”. Failing to secure a buyer, he put it on the market in October 2020 and it has now sold for just under $8 million (£5.7m), at a loss of $545,000 (£387k). They even included all the furniture in the sale!

Just 18 months after buying their first marital home, Justin and Hailey shelled out $25.8 million (£18.9m) for this supersized house located high in the mountain above Beverly Hills. Located within the celebrity-filled, guard-gated community of Beverly Park, the home sits on two-and-a-half acres of land. 

Spread over 10,000 square feet, the interior boasts seven bedrooms and 10 bathrooms with a whole host of high-end amenities. The two-storey grand hallway leads through to the formal living room with a black fireplace, while a family room and designer kitchen also sit on the lower floor. 

Upstairs, the master suite has its very own sitting room and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open out to a patio with views of the surrounding mountains. The ensuite bathroom is just as glamorous and is equipped with a grand chandelier hanging over the bath. 

Elsewhere, there's a gym and a soundproof movie theatre while outside boasts a covered loggia, an outdoor fireplace, infinity-edged swimming pool and expansive lawns as well as a full-sized tennis court. From a modest start in Ontario, Canada to a sprawling mansion with his new wife all before the age of 27, we can't wait to see what Justin Bieber moves onto next!
