Contemporary and visually impactful, this coastal crib in County Clare is truly one-of-a-kind. The modern bungalow can be found within easy reach of the seaside town of Lahinch in western Ireland and actually has a celebrity owner. The property belongs to Spanish professional golfer, Jon Rahm, who won the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in 2019.

The brilliant bungalow was designed for four people and boasts two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a free-flowing, open-plan layout with a living room, dining zone and kitchen. Every single wall benefits from large expanses of glass, while generous ceilings allow for airy and inviting interior spaces.

From the great minds at Chris Jenkins Design comes this vision in white known as the Port Douglas House. Situated, appropriately enough, in Port Douglas, Australia, the sleek modern pad boasts a clean, boxy silhouette, with a noticeable dearth of windows resulting in an almost unbroken white façade. How do they incorporate light into the home? Step inside to find out.

The house’s interiors are nearly as uninterruptedly white as its exteriors, with white walls, white ceilings and seamless white cabinetry in the open-plan kitchen, living and dining area.

This open floor plan features furnishings in a neutral colour palette, further accentuating the pallor of the space, which is lit from a wall of sliding glass doors looking out over the back of the property.

In addition to the numerous doors, a collection of strategically placed skylights and three-quarter-enclosed upper balcony also help the space feel bright and airy, in spite of the lack of front-facing windows.

A floating central staircase lit by a two-storey window shaft leads to the second floor, which houses a library, a bedroom with an ensuite, two covered terraces and the semi-enclosed sun porch.

Outside, the home offers and glittering pool, plenty of deck space and another covered terrace with a dining area. Through both its indoor and outdoor spaces, the home remains meticulously white in its primary colour palette, producing a very mid-century, almost space age-inspired effect.
