The drive, optimism and wit of the Kardashian/Jenner 'momager' have helped raise her financial worth to an estimated $170 million (£131.6m). And Jenner’s property-flipping talents are clearly on par with her family PR skills, she owns so many homes, she "forgot" one entirely. She currently lives in California in a $20 million (£15.5m) Hidden Hills mega-mansion 'kompound' next to daughter, Khloé. But does she hail from the San Fernando Valley region? Amd where did Kris Jenner grow up?

Kris was born in San Diego, California, on November 5, 1955, to Mary 'MJ' Campbell—a children's clothing store owner—and engineer Robert "Bob" Houghton. When she was seven years old, M. J. and Bob divorced, and Kris and her younger sister, Karen Casey, were raised by their mother, who often appears on the Kardashian reality shows. She later married businessman Harry Shannon, who helped raise the two girls.

In the 1960s, the family briefly moved to Oxnard, California. But just three months after moving, Shannon's business partner allegedly left with all the company's money. Kris and the family ended up moving back to San Diego, where she attended Clairemont High School, learning to surf and cheerleading (a skill she has brought to her career), before graduating in 1973.

While the multimillionaire businesswoman may now regularly take private jets, in 1976 she worked for American Airlines as a flight attendant. In one episode of the new Hulu series The Kardashians, Jenner says: “I went to flight attendant school, and then they assigned me to New York."

In the same episode, Kris tells daughter Khloé that she wants to make a trip to Upper Manhattan to view the old apartment she lived in opposite Carnegie Hall while she was working for American Airlines. “Robert [Kardashian] and OJ met me at the airport," she says. "Because they had just flown in from Montreal, where they had watched [Caitlyn] Jenner win the Gold Medal. Because OJ was doing the commentary.”

The former flight attendant had a fateful meeting with producer Ryan Seacrest in 2007 to pursue a reality television show based on her family, taking inspiration from The Osbournes own TV series. Keeping Up With The Kardashians was picked up by the E! cable network, debuting on October 14 2007, with Jenner acting as the executive producer. On air for 20 seasons, it was one of the longest-running reality TV shows in the US, before ending in 2021. A new Kardashians show began airing on Hulu in April 2022.

In July 1978 Jenner married lawyer Robert Kardashian, who would later become a household name for his legal representation of OJ Simpson when the former football star was accused of murdering his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. Kris told  Diane von Furstenberg, presenter of the podcast InCharge, that she met Robert when she was 18 years old, saying: “We dated for four years, got married at 22.”

After getting pregnant on their honeymoon, the couple had three daughters and one son together: Kourtney (1979), Kim (1980), Khloé (1984) and Rob (1987). But where did the blooming Kardashian family live?

Together they owned this rather luxe open-plan abode in Beverly Hills, which they purchased for $383,500 (£297k) in 1979. Built in 1951, the family mansion sprawled over 3,922 feet, and was located just moments from Rodeo Drive, in the coveted 90210 area.

The Kardashians would have been able to make a fine family home here, what with the property's four bedrooms and four bathrooms. In 2019, Kim Kardashian rented out her childhood home for Kris’ 64th birthday party, even remaking the table settings and home décor from the original fabric and wallpaper print.

Rob and Kris divorced in March 1991, but remained close friends until his death from oesophageal cancer in 2003. According to Realtor, they sold the Beverly Hills family home in 1994 for $1.5 million (£1.2m), making an impressive profit.

Just one month after her divorce from Rob Kardashian, Kris married decathlon athlete Bruce Jenner. She flexed her managerial skills and set to work negotiating his endorsement deals, creating an impressive array of highly profitable opportunities for her husband throughout most of the 1990s.

The power couple clearly did well together, and Kris and Bruce purchased this 8,763-square-foot house at 25254 Eldorado Meadow Drive in Hidden Hills for $1.45 million (£1.1m) in 1996. The English style manse is reportedly worth an estimated $7.75 million (£6m) today according to the Trulia listing.

Later that year Kris would give birth to daughter Kendall Jenner, with Kylie Jenner following two years later in 1997. The Jenner-Kardashian gang then became a family of 11, including Bruce's three sons from his previous marriage. The Jenners sold up the Eldorado Meadow Drive home in 2002 for $2.93 million (£2.3m). Where did the family move next?

In early 2004, the Jenners purchased this French-style manor in Calabasas after selling up the Hidden Hills abode. Built in 2000, the Calabasas manor last lhit the market again for $2.6 million (£2m), on the same day Caitlyn Jenner had her infamous debut on the cover of Vanity Fair, June 2015.

With shiny hardwood flooring and a sweeping staircase hallway complete with balcony, the manor has all the familiar features of a classic Kris Jenner abode. Set over a 0.7 acres and encompassing 4,629 square feet of living space, would it offer enough space for the ever-growing family?

According to Zillow, that seems unlikely, as the Cordova Court property was sold just two years later in 2006 for $2.4 million (£1.8m). Another profitable property flip for Kris – though she must miss that attractive trellis-lined pool, surely!

In 2006, Kris and her Olympian partner purchased this four-bedroom home in the Hidden Hills area of California for $2.85 million (£2.2m). A celebrity favourite, the area is known for its famed neighbours and gated community housing the likes of Drake, Miley Cyrus, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez, to name a few.

Built in 1964, the one-story home boasted walnut hardwood floors, open-beam ceilings and five marble bathrooms. Outside they’d have enjoyed the pool and spa with flagstone decking and covered veranda before they sold up again in 2009 for $3.39 million (£2.6m).

During their time at the Hidden Hills abode, Kris was in talks about producing a reality show starring the Kardashian/Jenner family. But it wouldn't be until the family moved yet again that viewers and fans would get familiar with their family home…

Our favourite matriarch collaborated with renowned designer Jeff Andrews to create the interiors we recognise today, with its bold decorative style. Neon signs dazzle against grey furnishings, while tactile, fluffy accessories can be found throughout.

After 23 years of marriage, Kris and Caitlyn Jenner announced their divorce in 2013. Caitlyn began opening up about her identity and transition from Bruce Jenner. According to TMZ, they divided up their assets and Kris kept the family home.

While Kris still owns the infamous reality show home, she decided to give it to her son, Rob. This news was revealed via his Instagram account, where he posted a festive transformation of the Calabasas abode in December 2019. Here we see his daughter, Dream enjoying a birthday greeting like no other, in true, extravagant Kardashian style.

In August 2014, Kris met business executive and talent manager Corey Gamble at fashion designer Riccardo Tisci's 40th birthday party in Ibiza. Corey seems a toyboy, at 25 years her junior, but it’s certainly no temporary affair as the pair are still going strong almost ten years later.

Between 2015 and 2017, Kris and daughter Kim purchased three condos between them in the exclusive Calabasas community, Avanti. Kris reportedly paid $1.5 million (£1.1m) and just shy of $1.7 million (£1.3m) for two separate residences, while Kim paid $1.6 million (£1.2m) for her personal unit.

With European cabinets, Kohler fixtures and Wolf appliances, the complex also boasts a club room, fitness centre, swimming pool and sun deck, for those all-important sunbathing selfies.

A classic Kris Jenner monochrome interior can be seen in the bedroom here, with an adjoining terrace showcasing green Calabasas views. In December 2019, just a few years after purchasing and one month after daughter Kim listed her condo for $3.5 million (£2.7m), Kris decided to put her Avanti penthouse condo on the market at $2.5 million (£1.9m), according to Architectural Digest. It is, however, no longer for sale.

But the property mogul didn’t stop there. With her eyes on yet more Hidden Hills real estate, Kris snapped up an impressive six-bed, eight-bathroom property just across the street from Kim’s Hidden Hills house for just under $10 million (£7.7m) in 2017.

A stunning double-height entranceway leads through to the walnut floored living room and chef’s kitchen, complete with marble countertops illuminated via large hanging pendant lights. The zero-edge pool, barbecue area and fire pit beckon from beyond glass doors…

Situated so close to the family mansion Kim once shared with her former husband, Kanye West, babysitting must have been rather convenient here. With an open-plan layout, a screening room and pocket doors that open up from the living room to the patio, we’re sure hosting their signature family gatherings was a breeze.

Although we’d never want to leave this ultra luxe, freestanding bathtub with stunning views, just three years later Kris performed yet another property flip and sold the house for $15 million (£11.6m) in an off-market deal. Impressive!

Branching out from her favourite Calabasas zip code, Kris bought up a modern and minimalist mansion in La Quinta (still in California, of course). She paid $12 million (£9.3m) for the seven-bedroom residence in August 2018. Plenty of rooms for (almost) the whole family to stay.

Classic Kardashian-esque white leather sofas and ever-stretching dining tables can be found within, lit via the plethora of recessed spot lighting, which is ideal for family get-togethers and photoshoots.

A grand total of four fireplaces (plus these oversized, gas-powered fire tables pictured) can be found throughout the Jenner abode, creating not just warmth but a sense of drama we know the media mogul enjoys.

We imagine Kris and Corey might actually prefer a little alone time here, relaxing far away from the paparazzi and family dramas. A 100-foot infinity pool sits within almost one acre of land, offering glorious views out across those famous Californian hills she seems to love so much.

In October 2020, Kris decided to keep it in the family and purchased the house next door to daughter Khloé's new property in the Ashley Ridge neighbourhood of Hidden Hills. Footage via X17 showed a Kardashian "kompound" in the works, which Kris planned to serve as a home for both herself and daughter Khloé, with the project said to be worth $37 million (£28.6m) in total, with Kris's larger property set to have cost $20 million (£15.5m). The land originally belonged to construction magnate Ron Tutor, and included a home that spanned 20,000 square feet.

That home was once leased to none other than Britney Spears, before being sold in 2012 for $7 million (£5.4m) to a local developer who razed the house according to the New York Post. Kris was ready to stamp her legendary sense of style across her new abode but unfortunately, construction was paused in June 2021 as a contractor disappeared with the mother-daughter duo’s money and deeds to the properties...

After an alleged lawsuit against the contractor, Kris and Khloé returned to their renovations and Kris was finally able to unveil her brand new 10,000 square-foot abode to friends and the crew of The Kardashians in November 2021. Kris invited her friend, world-famous TV cook Martha Stewart, to visit the property. Stewart posted a photo of the multimillion-dollar entrance, to the delight of her Instagram followers... but there was still a wait to see what Kris had done to the interiors...

A stylish kitchen in neutral tones is the order of the day for Kris it would seem. Warm and welcoming, Kris' style seems a world away from her daughters in this room, but there's plenty of luxury elsewhere in the home. Plus, not everyone has a personal chef, which Jenner may have hired to bake those goodies we spy on the sleek black countertops.

A sumptuous bar and sitting room complete with old Hollywood glamour on a contemporary slant via Art Deco-esque light pendants and dark choco-late painted ceilings and walls is far more 'Kardashian'. The housewarming and unveiling of the new home coincided with Kris' 66th birthday that November, invitees including her family and close friends Ellen DeGeneres and Faye Resnick.

No home is complete without the “dish room”. Yes. this is a walk-in closet displaying all Kris Jenner's fine china on illuminated shelving, including six sets from Hermés, one Gucci Herbarium set in green, a fleet of made-to-order Royal Copenhagen Flora Danica porcelain pieces and even a custom set with the Kardashian-Jenners’ photos on them. The Flora Danica set alone could sell for over $50,000 (£38.7k).

As Season 2 of The Kardashians kicked off we caught a glimpse of Kris's comfortable bedroom when she was recovering from hip surgery . Prior to the operation, she confided she was scared, saying: “It reminds me of somebody older than I feel on the inside and somebody who is going to have challenges for the rest of her life.”

Another behind-the-scenes look at the home happened later in season 2 of The Kardashians, when Kris hosted a lion-themed baby shower for Khloé’s son with her ex, Tristan Thompson, who was born via surrogate in July 2022. Balloon arches were festooned around the property entrance, and during the event, sister Kim Kardashian gave an emotional toast to Khloé: "I'm just really happy for you," she said. "You have no idea how much love this baby's going to bring you... And there's no one that deserves happiness like you do."

To gain a better understanding of the size of the side-by-side properties, some new aerial images have been released in The Daily Mail, which display the expansive homes and their surrounding grounds. This image is from Virtual Globetrotter, when the compound was still under construction, but gives us an idea of their prominence in the Hidden Hills neighbourhood.

Kris Jenner owns some beautiful houses – so many she forgot one! In the first season of The Kardashians she admitted to having forgotten about one of the condos she owned in Beverly Hills. Taking a trip there with her daughter Khloé, she said she had only used it to wrap presents in and called it “Santa’s workshop”. “I can’t wait to be wealthy enough I forget I have properties somewhere,” remarked Khloé in a mock British accent. That sure would be nice. 

The businesswoman is a virtuoso when it comes to property deals, but her main preoccupation is undoubtedly her family. She seems to be at her happiest sharing news about her offspring, not least when she celebrated Kourtney and Travis’ news that they have a baby on the way. “I love you so much!!” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.
