Raised in the spotlight and, in most cases, now enjoying their own careers, these young stars have a taste for the grand, the glamorous, and even the gaudy when it comes to setting up house. Paris Jackson is the middle child and only daughter of Michael Jackson. Her parents divorced a year after she was born, and Paris was raised entirely by her father at Neverland Ranch, Jackson's home and private amusement park in Santa Barbara, which he frequently used to host his numerous celebrity friends. After her father’s sudden death in 2009, Paris and her older brother were placed in the care of their grandmother, Katherine.

According to Dirt, Paris Jackson recently bought this gorgeous three-bed, two-bath Hollywood Hills retreat for $3.8 million (£3.2m). Jackson isn’t the first star to covet the property, a cosy cabin in a secluded, woody area. She purchased it from Maroon 5 keyboardist, Jesse Carmichael and it was previously owned by Canadian singer-songwriter k.d. lang. 1950s Hollywood heartthrob Rock Hudson was another previous owner.

Among the house’s most attractive features are its outdoor spaces, which include beautifully landscaped rockeries and gardens interspersed with meandering paths, a saltwater pool, spa and sauna. The property also includes a small art studio and a garage which has been converted into a music studio by one of its previous owners. The entire complex is enclosed by rustic stone walls and densely packed trees for maximum privacy.

The house’s interior is everything one might expect from a luxury log cabin, with polished hardwood floors, exposed beams and a two-way stone fireplace, warming both the family and the dining rooms. Hailey Bieber (née Baldwin) is the daughter of Stephen Baldwin, himself the youngest of the Baldwin brothers. In 2018, at the age of 21, she married Canadian pop star and teen heartthrob Justin Bieber.

Nestled in the coveted Beverly Park enclave of Beverly Hills, Hailey and Justin’s current home is an enormous French-style estate. The couple purchased the 11,145-square-foot property in 2020 for almost $26 million (£22m) to use as their main home. The house was built in 1988, and renovated to its current standard by a previous owner in 2019.

Step through the door to the ensuite bathroom and you’ll discover an enormous walk-in shower and soaking tub with a large crystal chandelier hanging over it. 

In addition to its grandiose interiors, the property’s cultivated surrounding 2.5 acres offer a range of high-end amenities. For outdoor exercise, the Biebers can use an infinity swimming pool and championship tennis court in the comfort of their backyard. One of the world’s best-selling artists of all time, Lionel Richie has received four Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, and the Kennedy Center Honors for his work as a singer-songwriter. In 2021, Nicole Richie and her husband, singer Joel Madden, purchased a $10.2 million (£8.6m) mansion located in the mountains above Beverly Hills, in a private, gated community known as 'The Summit'. The 6,165-square-foot, château-style house dates to 1987, but underwent a significant remodel in 2019 courtesy of SIMO design. The house then served as the residence of SIMO’s founders, husband and wife duo Sam Gnatovich and Alexi Rennalls, until its sale in September last year.

The new design seamlessly blends old-world elegance with sleek modern details. Wide-plank wooden floors contrast with dark statement Carrara marble throughout the house, while largely white walls help brighten the space. The house includes five bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as a state-of-the-art kitchen, a library/office and an open-plan living and dining area which opens out onto a spacious back patio.

The bedrooms are all located on the second floor, each with its own ensuite. The master bedroom includes its own seating area, a large fireplace and a private balcony, as well as a marble-hewn ensuite connecting to a large walk-in closet and dressing room. There is also a separate staff wing.

Just last month, Richie and her fiancée, Elliot Grainge, purchased this East Coast-style estate in Brentwood, Los Angeles for $26.9 million (£22.3m). The six-bed, nine-bath home offers 10,779 square feet set on just under an acre in one of LA’s priciest neighbourhoods. Screened by a combination of tall gates, dense hedges and leafy trees, the sumptuous house and grounds are a secluded retreat from the outside world.

The house’s first floor boasts a dining room, a library and an open-plan family room and kitchen equipped with marble countertops and SubZero and Wolf appliances. Also on the first floor, the formal living room has a wall of French doors leading out onto a covered patio with its own fireplace, seating area and view of the spectacular rolling lawns and manicured gardens.

Despite a somewhat inauspicious exterior, the property was renovated in 1975 by local architect Jeff Guga, and now boasts more than 3,000 square feet of open-plan, contemporary Southern California-style space, complete with blonde hardwood flooring and crisp white walls.

A large picture window overlooking a leafy backyard serves as the focal point for the combined living and dining area, while the space’s muted colour palette of caramel brown and eggshell compliments the walls and flooring. The 22-year-old starlet’s first ever real estate investment of her own is an ultra-modern, $3.1 million (£2.6m) seaside retreat in Malibu, not far from her parents’ 150-acre estate in Calabasas.
