Bringing in billions at the box office, these Hollywood icons are paid handsomely for their kick-ass stunts, money they clearly plough into their amazing abodes. Chris Pratt has enjoyed an action-packed career with starring roles in celebrated franchises such as Jurassic Park, and, perhaps most famously, Guardians of the Galaxy, in which he plays the interplanetary policeman, Star-Lord. Released in May 2023, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 raked in around $844 million (£678m) globally, a whopping sum that will have resulted in a tidy profit for the star, which he may well be looking to invest into a new property. Chris Pratt's bank balance is currently said to stand at around $100 million (£80m), according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Change is certainly on the cards for the actor. News recently broke that Pratt and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, have listed their Pacific Palisades mega-mansion for $32 million (£25.7m), following a painstaking renovation. The couple initially purchased the hillside home in 2018 for $15.6 million (£12.5m), but opted to remodel the 1995 build from the ground up, resulting in a dramatic rebuild. The finished product is now a stunning six-bedroom, 12-bathroom mansion spread across 12,900 square feet.

Robert Pattinson rose to fame after landing roles in two of the most popular movie franchises of all time, Harry Potter and Twilight. Then, following in the footsteps of Michael Keaton and Christian Bale, Pattinson was cast as one of the greatest superheroes of all time, Batman. The 2022 The Batman movie reportedly grossed more than $770 million (£618m) worldwide, while Pattinson himself is said to have a net worth of $100 million (£80m). Starting with a fairly modest home, Pattinson went on to upgrade his residence significantly.

Pattinson’s most recent upgrade is this stunning Spanish Colonial Revival-style home, sequestered away in a private, gated LA neighbourhood. Pattinson and long-time partner, model and singer Suki Waterhouse, splashed out $5.3 million (£4.3m) for the property. The home's previous A-list owners include Gossip Girl creator Stephanie Savage and Grammy-winning musician Beck and his then-wife, actress Marissa Ribisi.

Shielded from the street by a tall opaque hedge, the characterful home is built into a steeply sloped backyard, with the main living areas located on the upper storey. The main living area boasts hardwood floors, vaulted exposed beam ceilings and a large brick fireplace. Maguire's three main movies reportedly grossed almost $2.5 billion (£2bn) and the actor is now thought to be worth $75 million (£60m). With his wealth, Maguire has bought and sold numerous amazing homes, including a pretty spectacular compound in West Hollywood...

Maguire reportedly spent almost $3.4 million (£2.7m) on the place in 2017, pushing up the price to $4.2 million (£3.4m) when he decided to wave goodbye in the summer of 2020. Over the years, the actor has gained himself a reputation as a celebrity real estate mogul, making a killing from buying homes, renovating them, and selling them on for big bucks. But since Maguire held onto the place for almost three years, it's likely he did actually reside here.

The ultra-modern glass and concrete home stretches 3,250 square feet and was originally designed by acclaimed architect Clive Wilkinson, best known for his work at Googleplex, the California headquarters of Google. In fact, Wilkinson lived in the property for many years, proving he was clearly very happy with his creation. While the exterior is boxy and sleek, the interior is light and free-flowing, with warm wood accents, white paintwork and entire walls of glass.

The home boasts a sprawling lounge with a minimalist fireplace, a dining zone and a contemporary kitchen with a double-height ceiling. The kitchen is decked out with wooden cabinets, top-of-the-line appliances and a huge butcher block-topped island. Meanwhile, a bespoke staircase leads upstairs, where a mezzanine living space can be found, along with the home's three stylish bedrooms.

Since her first appearance as former KGB agent Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow, in 2010's Iron Man 2, Scarlett Johansson has transitioned from an acclaimed dramatic actor to one of the world's best-loved superheroes. A key player in the phenomenally successful Avengers movie franchise, she landed her very own origin story spin-off with 2021's Black Widow. Forbes named her the world's highest-paid female actor in 2018 and 2019, and today she's thought to be worth $165 million (£132.4m).

The star celebrated her success by snapping up this romantic, ivy-clad mansion in the exclusive Palisades hamlet of Rockland County, New York (formerly known as Sneden's Landing). She put down a cool $4 million (£3.3m) for the pad, which sits on a secluded lot overlooking the waters of the Hudson River, making it the perfect getaway spot for the actress and her family.

Known as Ivy House, the historic home was designed in 1953 by architect and local resident Eric Gugler, who most notably expanded the West Wing of the White House in Washington, DC. The characterful property measures 4,000 square feet and benefits from light-filled living areas that blend traditional design with modern touches. There's an inviting entrance hall, numerous reception rooms, two dining spaces, a small den with a fireplace and a traditional-style kitchen.

There are also four bedrooms and four bathrooms, some of which open up to the home's romantic wrought-iron balconies. Of course, pretty much every room benefits from gorgeous views. The house is bursting with history, too. It sits on the original site of American landscape painter Robert Knox Sneden's house and was previously owned by British-born actor Brenda Forbes. According to the listing, Forbes was good friends with Katharine Hepburn, who frequented Ivy House every Thanksgiving.

Though the pad only comes with less than an acre of land, it packs in plenty of enviable features. As well as rolling, tree-shaded lawns, there are serene courtyard gardens, pretty red brick terraces, a tennis court, two four-car garages, a swimming pool and a cabana. In the summer of 2021, Scarlett and her husband Colin Jost announced the arrival of their first child together, a baby boy they named Cosmo. They also revealed they'd moved into a new home. An actor and stage star since the 1990s, Australian-born Hugh Jackman landed his breakthrough role in 2000, playing Wolverine in the X-Men franchise. He even starred in three solo adventures, 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Wolverine in 2013 and Logan in 2017, and is due to return to the role in 2024's Deadpool 3. It's no surprise then that over the course of his career, he's accumulated a staggering $180 million (£144m) net worth. With his wealth, Jackman has bought an array of amazing homes, including an ultra-modern apartment in New York City.

After selling his ultra-expensive, 11,000-square-foot Manhattan condo for $38.9 million (£31.2m), Hugh Jackman bought another luxurious penthouse in the city. In early August 2022, he forked out $21.1 million (£16.9m) for the 4,675-square-foot pad, which means he downsized a little. Yet he didn't have to compromise on space or style, because his new digs are truly mind-blowing...

Located at the top of an eye-catching 57-unit building, the home has a clean, modernist aesthetic with a mostly white colour palette – a style favoured by the actor and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, if their previous apartment is anything to go by. The place is spread out across two floors and comes with a living room, dining room and kitchen. There's even a music room with a grand piano, so the star can practise his musical numbers.

The pad also boasts four bedrooms, each with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the New York skyline and Hudson River. In fact, from some of the rooms, Jackman can even see the Empire State Building. Former Miss Israel, Gal Gadot also served two years in the Israeli army before becoming a fictional action hero. She landed a role in 2009's Fast & Furious, which led to her hitting the big time by being cast as Wonder Woman in 2016, starring in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and gaining her own origin story in 2017. In 2020, Forbes ranked her the third highest-paid actress in the world, with earnings of $31.5 million (£25.3m). So she has plenty of cash to spare for spending on luxury homes...

Gadot spends much of her time in Tel Aviv with her property developer husband Yaron Varsano and their two children. But when she's filming in LA, the actress resides in this envy-inducing beach house in Malibu. She bought the place in 2020 for $5 million (£4m) from Thai philanthropist and Miss Universe 1988 Bui Simon, who bagged it in 1994 for a mere $850,000 (£682k), highlighting just how much real estate prices have soared in the last few decades.

The star's secret holiday home is positioned inside one of Malibu's most exclusive gated communities, making it perfect for a celebrity seeking privacy and luxury. The contemporary, open-plan home features 1,956 square feet of inside space, including two bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as a bright, open-plan living area with a kitchen, dining area and lounge.

Every room is stylish and modern, decked out with wheat-coloured hardwood floors, simple white walls and plenty of glass, allowing the stunning scenery outside to take centre stage. 

Yet the star of the show has to be the condo's huge exterior balcony. With enough space for a dining table and sun loungers, it's the perfect spot for taking in the surroundings. Yet such luxury doesn't come cheap. Gadot and Varsano are said to hand over $1,240 (£1k) a month in homeowners' association fees alone. The pair also own a residence in the Hollywood Hills, which they picked up in 2017 for $5.6 million (£4.5m).

Robert Downey Jr began acting in the 1970s, but things really began to take off for him in the decades that followed, though a tumultuous private life occasionally threatened to throw his career off-course. Then, in 2008, he was hired to portray Tony Stark in the blockbuster Iron Man franchise. He also appeared as Stark in The Incredible Hulk, several Avengers movies and even Spider-Man: Homecoming, accruing a $300 million (£241m) net worth along the way. The actor has put his wealth to good use though, by snapping up a seriously cool home...

Without a doubt, Robert Downey Jr. owns one of the most unusual celebrity homes ever. Though it looks like a functional windmill, the pad is actually a former playhouse that was converted into a beautiful and ultra-unique residence. It can be found in the sought-after town of East Hampton, New York, where the elite of Manhattan go for their summer vacations. Downey no doubt vacations here with his wife, Hollywood producer Susan Downey, and their three children, Exton, Avril and Indio.

The historic building dates back to 1885 and boasts plenty of beautiful original features, such as exposed ceiling beams, grand fireplaces and hardwood floors. The house spans over 8,500 square feet and comes complete with a spacious living room, a huge kitchen, seven bedrooms, six full bathrooms, an office and a library. 

The wonderful windmill was originally on the market for $11.9 million (£9.6m) before Downey snapped it up in 2017, investing both time and money into extensive renovations. This isn't the only slightly unusual home the actor owns, either. In 2021, he invited The Purist into his futuristic dome home in Malibu.

Iron Man's backyard is pretty enticing, too. It features a guest house, a studio, a three-car garage, a potting shed, a tennis court, formal gardens, a large swimming pool, outdoor living spaces (one with a cinema-style TV screen and a bar) and an alfresco dining zone for making the most of those long summer nights. Australian actor Chris Hemsworth started his career on TV shows and soaps, but quickly rose to A-list status after landing a role in the Star Trek movie in 2009. In 2011, he was cast as Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, whose role is to protect his homeland Asgard (and planet Earth, too). Hemsworth also showed up in numerous Avengers movies, as well as in Doctor Strange. Mostly thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor is now worth a cool $130 million (£104m).

In 2015, the actor teamed up with his famous brothers, Luke and Liam Hemsworth, to buy this spectacular Malibu retreat. The trio paid just under $3.5 million (£2.8m) for the place, which is surrounded by the dramatic Santa Monica Mountains. Perfect for hosting A-listers, the house benefits from light-filled living spaces and plenty of outdoor lounges, all with views across the Pacific Ocean. Let's take a look inside...

Despite being built in 1979, the home is ultra-modern inside. Light, bright and open-plan, the 4,612-square-foot residence has a large living area, with a dining zone and a chef’s kitchen, as well as four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Blending contemporary design with traditional architectural elements, the pad benefits from beamed ceilings, walls of glass and polished concrete floors.

Other highlights include the home’s 750-bottle, temperature-controlled wine cellar, state-of-the-art movie theatre and envy-inducing exterior decks. The master suite is a real beauty, too. It comes complete with dual walk-in closets and a luxurious bathroom, with a spa bath, steam shower and Calcutta gold marble fixtures.

The master bedroom also boasts a sauna, located in a tiny wooden hut just outside. The Hemsworth brothers decided to say goodbye to the beautiful home in 2021 and sold it for almost $4.3 million (£3.5m). According to Realtor, the trio "made a few improvements" during their four years of ownership, suggesting that the pad might have been bought as an investment property. Clearly their efforts paid off!

Jennifer Lawrence could well be the ultimate action hero. Rising to fame in the The Hunger Games series, the American actress has become one of the most successful stars of her generation. One of her first major roles was in X-Men: First Class, in which she played both shapeshifting former KGB agent Raven and her all-blue alter-ego, Mystique. Now an X-Men staple, Jennifer Lawrence is thought to be worth $160 million (£129m). 

In 2017, a year after starring in X-Men: Apocalypse, Lawrence dropped just over $9 million (£7.2m) on a stylish loft in New York City’s trendy Tribeca neighbourhood. Located just minutes from the Hudson River, the luxurious apartment lies inside a historic building that dates back to 1882. Yet there's nothing old-fashioned about the interior, which was converted into a condominium in 2016.

The apartment can be found behind a key-locked private elevator, which opens straight into a lovely entrance gallery that leads to a stunning, 35-foot living room. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms, including a majestic master suite, which features three west-facing windows that overlook a landscaped courtyard. In fact, everywhere you look you'll spot lovely design details, such as 10-foot ceilings, huge expanses of glass, sleek fireplaces, wide-plank white oak flooring, reclaimed wood beams and exposed structural columns. 

In late summer 2022, Lawrence decided to sell off the loft, just after giving birth to her first child with husband Cooke Maroney. The couple named their baby boy Cy, after American painter Cy Twombly. The pad eventually sold in January 2023 with Compass for just under an eye-watering $10 million (£8m).
