When you're buying a home, you avoid paying any fees to estate agents because it's always the seller that has to cover the agent's commission. But with this comes one major downside – they may not have your best interests at heart.

Your agent could be more focused on what the seller wants because it's them that's paying their fee. Generally, two agents will work together to close a deal, so it's also likely they'll share information about you with them – and the seller – in order to get the deal over the line.
