The RV life isn't just for globetrotters. It turns out celebrities also love to splash out when it comes to tour buses and trailers.

Whether it's a luxury space to recuperate on the set of a blockbuster movie or a plush home for a road trip into the wilderness, these VIP RVs are seriously impressive.

Lauded American actor and star of some of our favourite 80s movies Tom Hanks is used to the Hollywood high life. But he happily traded his mansion for a home on the road while filming hits from 1993's Sleepless in Seattle to 2017's The Circle.

While on set, Tom Hanks would kick back and enjoy some downtime in his custom Airstream trailer. 

The two-time Oscar winner snapped up his home on wheels in 1993. The 1992 Model 34 Limited Excella Travel trailer was bought by the actor as an empty shell and he completely customised its interior. 

The Airstream was a home-away-from-home for the actor, who also spent time entertaining friends, colleagues and cast members in the 35-foot-long (10.6m) trailer.

While the Airstream isn't the most luxurious of trailers, Hanks had become tired of staying in generic trailers on movie sets and wanted a portable place he could call his own.

"I got it in the days when movies moved slower," the actor told Bonhams, who handled the sale of the vehicle in 2021. "I had spent too much time in regular trailers with ugly décor and horribly uncomfortable furniture, so I decided to buy a brand-new Airstream shell, with an interior made to my own request."

The trailer boasts a small kitchen, a dining area, a bathroom and a bedroom with everything you'd need on the set of a movie.

The lucky new owner received all of these items included with their purchase. That's all accessories including plates, glasses, several espresso makers, some kitchen equipment and the teakwood chairs and table.

Finally ready to part ways with his house on wheels, Hanks put the Airstream up for auction with Bonhams in August 2021.

The auction house estimated it would go for between $150,000 (£112k) and $250,000 (£186k). It eventually sold without reserve for $235,200 (£175k) including premiums. 

It won't surprise Jason Momoa fans that the Justice League actor loves the open road and campervan life.

With multiple photoshoots and interviews revealing his love of the great outdoors and travelling by RV, the Aquaman star often posts photos of his outdoorsy lifestyle to Instagram.

Following his split from his wife Lisa Bonet in January 2022, Momoa was photographed living in a luxury motorhome, which doubtless suits the adventurous father of two.

Worth a reported $25 million (£19m) according to website Celebrity Net Worth, the Game of Thrones heartthrob reportedly moved out of his $3.5 million (£2.6m) marital home, into a top-of-range EarthRoamer truck.

Photographed parked on a friend’s lawn, the luxury RV is worth $802,000 (£601k), and was custom-made for Momoa, with a king-size bed, a bike rack and an infrared camera.

The stylish home on wheels is definitely fit for a VIP with its slick leather upholstery and edgy industrial-style finishes.

Listings show the four-wheel drive also comes complete with a wall-mounted Nespresso machine and handsome sable brown alder cabinetry surrounding the dual burner cooktop.

The more in-depth spec sheet lists practical accessories such as a mounted flashlight, hoses and an axe. Oh yes, axe-throwing is one of the star's many manly hobbies.

The Dune star is said to have stayed in the EarthRoamer while working on location on the latest instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise with Vin Diesel, rather than in hotels, appreciating the closeness to nature it affords. 

There's even room for his beloved motorcycle which, the star revealed in summer 2024, has been a hit with his new girlfriend Adria Arjona. "My lady likes to ride," he said as reported in British newspaper the Daily Mail.

Worth a not-so-modest $70 million (£52m), Connecticut-born singer/songwriter John Mayer is another celebrity fan of the EarthRoamer brand.

The star, whose hits include 'Gravity' and 'Stop This Train', likes to keep things luxe when he hits the road, and this fortified RV has all the creature comforts he could ask for.

First debuting his EarthRoamer truck camper on Instagram back in 2014, the singer captioned the post ‘who knows where I’ll end up next’, while praising the Colorado-based EarthRoamer staff.

It's not clear whether the star uses the RV for touring or his own adventures.

Choosing the now-discontinued EarthRoamer XV-LTS, the musician’s model is based on Ford’s F-550 chassis and was, as Mayer writes in an Instagram caption, "completely hand-built in Colorado by extremely talented and innovative men and women".

Spanning just over 29 feet (8.8m), the camper weighs approximately seven tons (2,000 lb), and can handle most terrains, thanks to a Power Stroke V8 engine.

With prices starting at around $490,000 (£367k), the EarthRoamer LTS came with environmentally responsible solar and battery power, alongside handcrafted elements and custom finishes.

With a main cabin space seating two to six people, an induction cooker, as well as a spice rack and espresso maker, it's a truck built "for a luxury overland experience", the makers say.

We’re sure he made good use of the over-cab bunk, which EarthRoamer suggest makes a great lounge area for "reading, watching TV or listening to music".

Although the four-wheel drive turbo-diesel vehicle is described as a luxury RV, the Grammy award-winner posted a New Year message declaring that "discipline means discomfort", and wishing his fans "an uncomfortable year, all," not long after purchasing his off-road camper. It's all a state of mind!

Actor and singer Jamie Foxx may have a $10.5 million (£8m) home in California, but he too splashed out on a seriously luxurious RV. He purchased his huge motorhome for hosting his online talk show, Off Script which he launched in 2018.

The souped-up RV is where Foxx used to sit down with his celebrity guests to discuss their cinematic influences and the movies they loved best. Interviewees included the likes of Vince Vaughn and Denzel Washington. 

From the outside, this mobile TV studio looks like an armoured truck, albeit a gold-plated one!

The vast motorhome certainly isn't short on space, with plenty of room for host Foxx, his guests and of course a film crew. In fact, the trailer uses a hydraulic roof design to raise the unit's height when it isn't traveling along the highway.

Bringing the studio to his guests allowed Foxx to interview massive stars in between their busy filming schedules with ease.

The décor has been kept fairly minimal, with wooden flooring throughout, concrete-effect walls, gold fixtures and even a record player. 

Pictured being set up for one of his celebrity interviews, another stand-out feature of the luxury motorhome is an upright piano. Should any of his guests, or indeed Jamie himself, fancy striking up a tune, the studio is ready. 

The expansive mirror opposite the window makes the place look super light and airy. Prices start at $1.8 million (£1.3m) for an Anderson custom, according to tech review website slashgear.com, so this mobile mansion is for the lucky few who can afford it.

Jamie, who no longer hosts the show, used to sit alongside his guests on this luxurious blue velvet sofa. The Oscar-winning actor no longer hosts Off-Script but presents the game show Beat Shazam with his daughter Corinne. 

The star suffered a mystery illness in 2023 which took him to the brink of death and out of the public eye for around eight months. "I saw the tunnel. I didn't see the light," he said at the Critics Choice Association awards ceremony in December 2023 as reported by Hello! Magazine.

Award-winning actor and producer Leonardo DiCaprio has starred in over 70 movies, from The Wolf of Wall Street and Django Unchained to 90s classic, Titanic.

It's not surprising then that he likes to relax and unwind in style when he's on set working on his latest blockbuster. But instead of a classic holiday home, Leo chose one of wheels...

During the filming of his movie Inception in 2009, Leonardo DiCaprio spent his time between takes in this state-of-the-art trailer from King Kong Production Vehicles.

With an opulent gold-effect exterior, the 53-foot (16m) mobile home is really a mobile mansion. The RV features extendable sides that nearly double the width from eight-and-a-half feet (2.5m) to almost 16 feet (4.9m).

With a total interior floor plan of 720 square feet (67sqm), the design of the motorhome was based on a luxury cruise ship.

Designer David Rovsek, who owns King Kong Production Vehicles, was inspired by the yachts of the rich and famous, picking out features such as the cherrywood cabinetry, dropped ceiling and oval overhead mirror. All home essentials for the mega-rich. 

The interior isn't short of amenities either, with two fireplaces, five TVs, a five-star master bedroom and a $50,000 (£38k) shower finished with glitzy glass mosaic tiles. 

The luxury pad, which is worth in excess of $1.5 million (£1.1m), was also used by Brad Pitt while filming Moneyball and Ben Affleck, when he was Batman in Zack Snyder's 2016 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. 

The motorhome rivals most opulent luxury hotels. There's even a plush carpet that slides across to extend the floor plan even further.

A big consideration for A-listers like Leo is that security is taken care of. That's why there's a camera system linked to the TVs, which allows the occupant to see exactly who's at the door before answering. 

After this he must have felt right at home hanging out in the trailer featured in his movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

When she's not in one of her opulent homes, pop legend Mariah Carey spends her time on tour in her huge motorhome that's been nicknamed the "skyscraper on wheels".

Not one to go without her creature comforts, it's packed with every luxury amenity the superstar could wish for while on the road.

Built by Anderson Mobile Estates, the 18-wheel RV can extend out to provide nearly 1,200 square feet (111sqm) of living space for Mariah and her entourage, once parked.

The lower floor of the motorhome features a luxurious living space with a custom-designed 15-foot sofa (4.5m) and a 65-inch (165cm) television.

Further down the hall, the dedicated makeup area comes complete with a chair and vanity unit. A second television is hidden behind the mirror on the floor, so the superstar can watch her favourite shows while she's getting glammed up.

Ingeniously, the ceiling of the motorhome can be raised to create some extra headspace on the upper floor.

This second-storey club space is the ultimate party house, featuring TVs at both ends, neon lighting and a dance floor. It provides the perfect space for the star to raise the roof after a show.

For quieter evenings, the expansive trailer also features a full gourmet kitchen crafted from wood, marble and granite. It has a mini-fridge, a convection oven, a stove and a top-of-the-range Kangen water filter.

The star might well need space for reflection following the tragic loss of her mother and sister on the same day on 24 August 2024. "I feel blessed I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed," she told People Magazine.

British TV and music producer Simon Cowell certainly doesn't slum it on business trips.

When he's not at home with his family, the media mogul runs his empire from an extravagant RV. Like Mariah and many other celebs, Cowell's home on wheels is designed by Anderson Mobile Estates.

Featuring a dazzling silver exterior and no shortage of living space, it's a bit more impressive than your average motorhome.

British newspaper the Daily Mail revealed in October 2023 that the King Richard star and wife Jada Pinkett-Smith had been separated for seven years but had no plans to divorce. According to British newspaper the Daily Mail , the Hollywood star often uses an RV to travel around the country with her children, and her extensive wardrobe, because it’s hassle-free and a secure way to get around without being bothered.

The songstress routinely uses trailers in her work and, as you would expect, she insists on the best of the best just as she does in her homes.

As the superstar searches for a new base in LA after filing for divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2024, she might well appreciate the freedom that the trailer lifestyle provides.

In fact, her ex may even have had the same idea as he was reported by British newspaper the Daily Mail to have an Airstream parked outside his Brentwood home in the summer!

Perhaps Ben Affleck was inspired by fellow actor Matthew McConaughey, who has a custom Airstream RV. However, the Oscar-winning actor has no mod-cons in his 2004 Airstream International CCD 28, which is affectionately named ‘Canoe’ and regularly takes him across America.

The Dazed and Confused actor, who is married to Camila Alves, with whom he has three children, likes nothing better than to bed down for the night in his ‘silver bullet’ vintage Airstream because he feels close to nature.

Inside, the tiny mobile home has a sitting area, a table that can be used for dining or working, a streamlined kitchen, a small bathroom and a snug bedroom.

“It’s got a great window right above your pillow, so when you wake up in the morning, you’re looking right at the ocean or wherever your backyard is that day,” McConaughey told Architectural Digest when he gave a tour of the 28-foot-long (8.5m) vehicle in 2008.

Thanks to the star's regular updates on Instagram, it's clear that the vehicle hasn't changed much since then.

In December 2022 he showed off his cooking skills outside his van. Once a resident at the world's most exclusive trailer park known as Paradise Cove, McConaughey is now living in Texas, though he's never far from his home on wheels.
