In September 2020, this oceanfront estate landed on the real estate market for $100 million (£75m). Owned by Irish actor, Pierce Brosnan, the Thai-inspired pad is one of the most expensive celebrity homes and boasts 13,000 square feet of lush interior space with amenities that are worthy of a five-star resort. Despite this, it was reported that Brosnan was struggling to sell the property, and it is now no longer on the market.

Built in 2010, after the James Bond actor snapped up two lots of land to turn into his longtime home, the mansion sits behind carved teak entrance gates. Finished off with the finest materials, the sophisticated resort-style property boasts panoramic ocean views from almost every room.

Listed for $104 million (£79m) in 2021, it’s got 10 bedrooms and some jaw-dropping amenities you won’t find in many London homes…

Once on the market for a reported $101 million (£76.5m), the home was also offered through a 'try before you buy scheme' and was up for rent at $62,500 (£47k) a week for interested buyers. 

Inside, the home has five reception rooms, which all come with soaring 14-foot ceilings, coving and floor-to-ceiling windows. Designed by Sir James Pennethorne, who was also the architect for Buckingham Palace's ballroom, the building was built between 1859 and 1861. Once on the market for $150 million (£113m), this home was eventually sold to Tom Gores, the owner of the basketball team, the Detroit Pistons, in 2016 in a complex $100 million (£76m) deal in which multiple properties changed hands. In October 2019, two penthouses in the exclusive One Sydney Harbour project reportedly sold for a record-breaking AUS $140 million. That's around USD $105 million (£80m). The most expensive home ever sold in Australia, the mystery buyer purchased the top three floors of the building in Barangaroo South, Sydney.

Set to be completed in 2023, the finished home will be more than 17,000 square feet in size, with the new owner using the top two floors as a private residence, while the lower floor will be a separate guest space.

It's now back on sale by the owner for a whopping $180 million.
