The Swedish store and one of the UK’s most respected designers have teamed up to create the ultimate space-saving sofa system

Ever bought a settee and realised it’s swallowing up space that could be put to better use? Had to chuck out or sell favourite furniture in a home move because it doesn’t fit in your new pad? IKEA and high-end interior designer Tom Dixon have teamed up to create a nifty new range of customisable furniture that could make those money and time wasting scenarios a thing of the past. DELAKTIG is set to be released in February and the collection includes sofas, chairs and a chaise lounge that can be easily adapted and extended to suit your space.

To these basic pieces you can add armrests, side tables, lamps and additional cushions to create new looks. It’s perfect for anyone using their living space as an office, renting out a property or aware they may be up or downsizing in the future.

And while floor lights from Tom Dixon’s own-brand range could set you back up to £3,465 the one from IKEA is a credit-card friendly £70. Prices for a two-seater sofa cost from £450.

The range won’t be stopping with just these inital pieces either. In an usual step for IKEA - who usually work with just the one designer - they’ve asked 75 design students around the globe to devise additional components that will slot into the DELAKTIG system.

But if you can't wait until February, here’s three other high street and designer collabs we love…

Matthew Williamson, John Rocha, Abigail Ahern, Jasper Conran and Betty Jackson – there’s no doubt the department store has some of the best partnerships on the high street. But for spring/summer 2018 you can't beat Julien's airy grey and gold updates.
