The Apprentice house: inside the £12m luxury mansion

Inbetween the bickering, bartering and blaming, Alan Sugar's outspoken contestants get to relax and unwind in the lap of luxury...

Lord Sugar’s steely scowl is back on our screens once again as another batch of candidates battle it out to win a £250,000 investment from the business mogul in BBC1’s The Apprentice.

But while they’re desperately trying to avoid the dreaded firing, the 16 hopefuls get to live in an ultra-luxurious Notting Hill mansion.

The stunning eight-bedroom home in West London costs just over £28,000 a month to rent and Zoopla estimates its current value is £12.8 million. So what can they expect from a property with that kind of price tag?

Bespoke designer home

Accommodation in the double-fronted Victorian villa is spread over five floors and offers its new residents seven bedrooms and four bathrooms! With three large receptions rooms, the contestants won’t be short of places to put their feet up after a long day of pointing the finger.

The striking period property has given a bold makeover by award-winning interior designer Nicky Haslam in recent years, whose previous clients include Ringo Starr, Mick Jagger and Rod Stewart. Nicky has kept the Victorian charm of the property and styled the home with bright and quirky interiors.

We love the dark paint and huge windows on offer in this reception room, which work perfectly with the rich red rug and luxurious fur throws.

Down the corridor in the second reception room there’s a more colourful, eclectic vibe with bold splashes of colour that contrast with the grand chandelier and period coving.

Elsewhere is a beautifully appointed eat-in kitchen with a contemporary white and grey palette and a sociable island for contestants to… err... network around.

We especially love the dining room, with its detailed wall mural, polished wooden floor and boardroom-style dining table. Hmm, we wonder if anyone will forget they’ve left the office and start dishing out orders over dinner?

We’d be very interested to see which of the bright young candidates managed to sweet talk the others into getting the jaw-dropping master bedroom.

The impressive space commands the entire first floor and includes a huge ensuite bathroom, his-and-hers dressing rooms arranged in a horseshoe layout and even has access to a private terrace that overlooks the south-facing garden.

A further six bedrooms are found on the second and third floors, where the others will live in close quarters with their competitors. With tensions running high, we’re sure the living arrangements will only add to the strained business relationships between the residents…

But it’s the location that’s the true hero of this home. Situated on the pretty, tree-lined Bassett Road in Notting Hill, the property is within easy access of Ladbroke Grove tube station and conveniently close to Portobello Road.

This should make life easier for the candidates, who can be called upon at any hour of the day or night to fulfill Lord Sugar’s next business task.

Prime London real estate

Average house prices in Notting Hill at the moment are £1,636,273 according to Zoopla – up 24% in the last five years.

The Notting Hill home is available to rent through agent Domus Nova and creates the perfect swish backdrop for all the drama to unfold against.

As always, the show is hosted by the big boss, Alan Sugar, who’s accompanied by sidekicks Karren Brady and Claude Littner in his search for an apprentice.

This year's line up includes a contestant who claims to be a freestyle rapper, another who likens herself to Willy Wonker and a third who says he was his school's conker champion.

You’ve got your work cut out, Alan.
