Less than a week after reports of a partial closure at Donald Trump's Florida home, the private members' club Mar-a-Lago, the former president has been hosting guests and making appearances at charity events. Click or scroll on to find out what happened…

Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate hosted a luxury car show just days after it hit the headlines for a reported 'Covid outbreak'. The Palm Event was held on Sunday 21 March, 2021 and cost $375 (£274) to attend, which included an all-you-can-eat buffet brunch, unlimited drinks plus valet parking and a commemorative poster. Local state lawmaker, Rep. Omari Hardy commented to People.com, that the club was "cavalier and careless about mask wearing". 

The club is often the location for charity fundraisers and has continued to open during the pandemic. There were only 500 tickets available to the mostly open-air event. Earlier this week, Mar-a-Lago said it was following "all appropriate response measures" in the wake of the purported outbreak, according to a staff email obtained by The Washington Post.

According to BBC News, Mar-a-Lago confirmed in a statement last weekend that both the Beach Club and à la carte dining room had closed following a number of cases of Covid-19, but did not specify how many people had tested positive. The Guardian reported that a source close to the club confirmed to Reuters that an undisclosed number of workers had been quarantined “out of an abundance of caution” and that “a section of the club” had also been closed for a short period of time.

In footage and photographs from the event, you can see that very few attendees are wearing masks or observing social distancing guidelines. The event was a fundraiser for Place of Hope, a faith-based charity for children and families in need. Former president Donald Trump turned up before his customary Sunday golf session as the show opened, much to the excitement of the guests.

He also met with Congressman Madison Cawthorn, Rep. of North Carolina, within the club's recognisable gold interior. Wearing his 'Make America Great Again' hat and golfing shoes, Trump gave Cawthorn his endorsement for the mid-term 2022 election.

Cawthorn posted this photo with the caption: "Proud to stand with a president who does not get knocked over by the wind. Had an incredible discussion planning our strategy for the 2022 election working on ways to keep our elections secure and ensure we have REAL patriots in congress. We need leadership before this border crisis and looming economic doom threaten our very nation. Thanks for trusting me Mr. President, we will make this country great!!"

A Twitter user caught Donald Trump's surprise appearance at a fundraiser for a dog rescue charity at Mar-a-Lago on March 12, 2021. Mar-a-Lago was also where he is thought to have been exposed to the virus more than a year ago when a senior Brazilian official tested positive after spending time at the club. The official in question even posed for a photo next to Trump and attended a family birthday party. Trump, Melania, Barron and multiple White House staff later tested positive for the virus.
